Popular Post DiscipleofPenick
41/37 this weekend at a muni near my house. Basically had 4 garbage holes to start and was only +4 the rest of the way. Cold morning and felt stiff teeing off in mid-40s, but got into the low 60s as the round progressed. Only 1 birdie, but no doubles. 1 3-putt and a few up and downs. Irons & chipping came alive on the back which really helped the round. Driver was not good, hitting my toe hook miss most of the day. And it was an odd day as all of us were struggling for distance off the tee, even with some rollout in the fairway. 240 was a big hit, not sure what that was as my irons were going their normal yardages. This was a short course with low slope - 6100/115 so while a 78 isn't bad, especially this early in the season, I always feel like I should be 4-5 shots better. Oh well, it was only my third round. Popular Post ejgaudette
Played 9 at small course near my in-laws on Saturday. Took it as a real practice round, hitting multiple balls, extra putts, so bunker shots here and there. The course is very tight and tree lined so lost a couple balls, found a couple. Hit the ball ok, still trying to find the consistency a bit as the year has started. Didn't keep score at all but it was a beautiful day and the green were in great shape, fast and slopey so it was fun to practice on those. edingc, MattF, JerryB and 7 others 10 Quote Epic Max LS 9° Ventus Blue 6X (2021 Official Review) | Epic Speed 18° Evenflow Riptide 70g 6.0 816 H1 21° Diamana S+ Blue 70 S | SMS 4-5/SMS Pro 6-PW Steelfiber i95 S (2023 Official Review) Glide 4.0 50°.12°S/54°.14°W/58°.6°T PING Z-Z115 Wedge Flex | SOFT 11S Super Stroke Mid-Slim 2.0 Hoofer Bag | Pro V1 | Right Handed | Tracked by V3

mikeanthony
Saw the below post on IG and noticed how Scottie’s right elbow was a good ways from his body. I always somewhat had the thought of keeping my right elbow closer and pinched into my body. Played 18 yesterday and shot 87 … FIR was 92%. Swung the driver with my right elbow flailing out wide and what a massive difference. I’ll admit that it led to over-tinkering with my iron swing while out on the course for a GIR of 22% … but for me, it’s a win. When the driver is in play (as opposed to 3W or hybrid) and it puts you in the fairway, the game is a lot more fun. RollingGreens
Got out this weekend, it was a bit better than last weekend. Driver and wedges were pretty good and the putter has been great. Still not hitting irons very well. Lots of snap hooks but from my playing partners and own deduction I am trying to really take a bigger swing and am chicken winging my elbow promoting the over the top motion. Still shot in the 100s even though I really started to put it together in the back 9. Really wish the range would open so I could get some work to hammer out my iron swing. Already started working on shortening up my swing and have noticed slight improvement Kenny B, edingc, sirchunksalot and 5 others 8 Quote Stealth 2 Plus 9deg Kai' li Red Stealth 2 13deg Aldilla Rogue Silver Stealth 2 15deg Aldilla Rogue Silver JPX 921 Hot Metal 4-PW Nippon Modus 120s SM8 54 and 58deg Dynamic Gold Wedge Flex Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Titleist ProV1 Hoofer Stand Bag Stewart Q Follow Electric Caddie 300 PRO Rangefinder Official Nippon Regio B+ Driver Shaft Review Official Stewart Q Follow Review

Popular Post vandyland
Played yesterday for the first time in 3 weeks. Made a 9 on the first hole (a handshake par 4 with no trouble) and realized on the second tee during my practice swing I had resorted to dragging the club WAAAY too inside. Made me realize why tour guys are always rehearsing that first few feet of their practice swing as a trigger. Anyway, made that correction and rattled off 13 straight pars and ended up shooting 77 (par 71) despite what was a horrible start. Good lesson in being resilient AND trusting that I can fix swing issues on the course when they pop up. ryan.mzzz, Shapotomous, Sluggo42 and 8 others 11 Quote STZ 230 9.5* PinHawk SLF 16* STZ 230 Hybrid 21.25* MALTBY TS1-IM 5-GW Equalizer II 54* Glide 4.0 (S) 58* L.A.B. Popular Post chisag
... Been in a rut lately. Physical problems I won't whine about here and probably just needed a break. Played 7 days in a row culminating in an 83 for me and a 96 for my pard visiting from Chicago for all of April and he rarely shots above the low 80's. I don't remember seeing him ever shank a shot and he shanked two in a row into houses off a par 3 tee box. I think we were as tired mentally as physically. Took 2 days off and had a much better day with birdies on all 4 of the par 5's just missing 2 eagle putts. I made it to 18 without a 5 on my scorecard and of course the minute I started to wonder "have I ever played 18 without a 5 on my scorecard?" I missed my first fairway finding a deep bunker and had to play out sideways. Hit a 6 iron to 10 feet and missed the putt for my first 5 of the day. I also bogied 2 of the par 3's so ended up 1 under for the round. I think it has been at least a month since I shot under par with a ton of mid 70's and a few upper 70's, so nice to be back on track. bens197, edingc, Sluggo42 and 10 others 13 Quote Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... JerryB
Played the back nine at River Heights today. It was an interesting round; every hole had a different issue, lol. I chunked my approach on hole ten a little... Hole eleven saw me top my seven iron tee shot. It skipped three times along the water before coming to a stop safely on the other side! On hole twelve I bladed three chips back and forth over the green. And so on and so forth. Just a bunch of weirdness. Greens were freshly mowed but the recent rains meant clumps of grass were everywhere. Here's how many greens looked: I had a putt on seventeen that looked on line until it hit a little clump of grass and turned hard right. I'm not good enough to get mad about these things, though. Shot a +14 50. Glad you asked, as I’ve kind of been just shooting to get more used to them. Shot a 75 today which included a double on 8, thanks to using a tee that was still sticking in the ground from someone else. Lesson learned! the irons (p770’s) are fantastic. They’re 7-15 yds longer, and I’ve been getting used to trusting them. The switch to the regular shafts (Ventus Red 6R) has also been great, and I’m finding that just taking a smooth swing is the key. The 5 and 6 irons in the (p790) are SO easy to hit. This combo set is kind of taking the sting out of getting older, as the extra distance, feel, and forgiveness, are making these things so pleasant to hit. Popular Post MattWillGolf
Got out for 9. Easily my best driving day. The putter let me down though which has been a strength of late. Two 3 putts. But went to use my Ping G410 Crossover. Set up and notice when I grip the club that head is pointed off line. The shaft shifted in the head. My shot of the day though was a wedge to 6 feet. With enough bite to only move a foot from my ball mark. Totally agree with this. It’s not that the Hogan Ptx Pro’s aren’t great stix, but let’s be clear, half that set are butter knife blades. One cannot deny the true joy of a well struck blade shot, but forgiveness isn’t one of their main selling points. the p770/p790’s still provide a wonderful feeling on a well struck shot, it’s just “different”. Oh, I forgot to add one last piece of the puzzle that I’m now 2 rounds into. I’ve switched my grip to an interlock, vs an overlay. some might say that that’s not that big of a deal, but let me tell you, it’s significantly different. it’s funny as I’m getting a new blister. The result of the switch, for me, has been a much higher degree of accuracy all across the board. It seems a bit easier to have a stronger grip, as that was one of my lessons, that is helpful. Can’t even describe the feeling of seeing the ball drop into the hole off the tee. 149 yd shot, downwind. Pin is on the front. I played a full PW with the slightest fade. Hit 5 ft to the left of the flag, checked up on the side hill and started falling to the right towards the hole. The anticipation was real as I didn’t know if it was tracking or not. I saw it roll into the flag stick, catch the lip of the cup, do a 180 around the flag before falling in. Congrats!
