So I'd like to say "Well" as in, "I played well" but it was more like "well ... wtf was that?!?!?!?"

Could not hit a tee shot even if you'd held a gun to my head, and then let myself get demoralized about that so had trouble making solid second .. and third .. shots...

Wasn't all horrible, though - had a nice up & down on the first hole (to save bogey), and then again on the next hole (another bogey). But after that things got even messier and even the wedges started arguing and fighting with me

The one consistent good thing was putting, happily enough -- two 1 putts on those first two holes with the up & downs, then several good 2 putts with tap-in seconds, one more 1 putt on a Par 3 (another up & down for another bogey), and had one 3 putt where I just totally misread the first putt and the ball broke _away_ from the hole and kept running running running further away .. but hit a good second with good speed but ball tracked straight instead of breaking slightly right to left... 

So 16 putts for 9 holes .. happy with that .. and we won't talk about the total gross score!

Yeah. Exactly.  You shot what you shot.  Snd to be fair it’s pretty close to my 16 handicap so no real issue.  Just is always nice to shoot a bit lower through isn’t it.  No matter our level.

... It just amazes me how selfish some people are. You had a HIO 3 years ago and with soooooo many golfers suffering without one, you just grab a 2nd one like a thief in the night?!? I would add I think it is much harder to make 2 birdies on the same hole because you have to make the putt, something you were evidently afraid to attempt with your avalanche of HIO's.

Sounds like sour grapes to me.  Just get it over with and make one!!  

BTW, my 3 aces seemed to come about 7 years apart... and I'm due!!

Lol!  I hear you. One of the guys in the group is a very good player 3-4 handicap and has been playing 35 years and has never had one.  He gave me a hard time about the first one.  
 

i thought the fact he had to witness yesterdays would be like salt in the wound . But he said he thinks that means he’s that much closer to his, since he was in the group. 

I did tell him when I had mine 3 years ago. One of the guys in the same group got one the following week.   So I’m saying there’s a chance!

You’ll get yours I’m sure. Those Forged Tec irons are so good..you’re bound too!

Stu. Just like I told one of the guys yesterday.  This is a crazy Effing gsme. Some really good players they have never had one.   And a 16 hack like me has two.   
 

At least I can sleep soundly knowing both mine were solid shots right at the flag. They they weren’t off a cart path and off a tree trunk and rolled in

Funny thing, the two ohter guys in the group, both hit it to about 6 feet and would have had closest to the pins, if not for this.  Both made birdie, so 3 of us played the hole in -4, pretty good!

I had two bad holes ruin what would have been my lowest round of the year, and technically throw in a third one, If Ihad just made bogey on each of those I would have shot an 82 which would hae tied my best ever, which was also the round with my first Hole in One.  Instead shot a somewhat disappointing 90 consideirn the way I hit it for 15 holes.

My late uncle started the game late in his life, played frequently when he retired and had 3 HIO's in his time.

I have been playing now over 50 years, off and on, more on than off though, and am still looking for my first. 

Quite the accomplishment, so enjoy it for all it's worth.

League night, a pretty pedestrian 43, 3 pars, 6 bogeys, hit some absolute bombs, but could make anything worth anything on the greens. Ah well, that's life. Learned I'm statistically the 2nd best player in this league on scoring average, so I now have a goal for the second half of the year. Also in a half season team best ball with handicap finished T8 at -2, but lost on the paid place for 8th on a card draw. 

Interesting to note... in that it's interesting, the two twosomes who played by themselves with not playing partners finished 1st and 2nd.

Played this morning at @MattF home course. Game's been off so I moved up to the whites today. Shot an 80, with 34 putts, 2 doubles, no birds. Started off par-par but holes 3-10 were a train wreck. I was only +2 for the rest of the round though so something started to click.

Played a little extra this week as my in-laws wanted to go out twice and I had some vacation time to burn:

• 41/38 -> 79
• 40
• 37/37 -> 74
• 38/39 -> 77

I have started to hit my irons really, really well as the practice I put in with changes from my last lesson is starting to pay off.

Got a very fortuitous bounce off a tree that kept a ball in bounds and led to a birdie during today's 77, but otherwise it was a very solid round. My touch was off on the greens and I had three three-putts for bogies that I wish I could remove, but no doubles at all.

I came to No. 18 yesterday at even par and ended up doubling it trying too hard for a birdie or par. Oh well!

Estimated handicap has dropped below six for the first time ever and my anti-cap is now down to 11.1. That's a huge improvement for me this year.

As @DiscipleofPenicksaid above, we got out early at Windmill this morning. Teed off about 7am. Reality came calling to me today with a 47/41 88. What a kick in the goolies! I found my limit and should have only played 3 times not 4 because I was running out of puff.

It surprised my fellow member because he knows my pedigree. LOL craziest one I ever saw was a qualifier for a Million Dollar one. A school had taken out the insurance policy and had one. One of the gym teachers had never hit a golf ball in his life. I think on the qualifier you could buy a small bucket for like $15 or so and you could hit all the buckets you purchased. The flag was at like 150 or so. About midway through his 2nd bucket he worm burned one up there with a Driver (smeesh) got him qualified. If I remember correctly you got 5 balls for the HIO for a Million. He topped 3 and hit the next two about 30 yards. I think he did get $500 for making the one in the qualifier. No one made the million. And no I could not participate because at the time I had been playing the minis and was assistant at that course

I participated in one of those about 20 years aog, they had a qualifer in the parking lot of a big mall, but had a fairly small green set up a 150 yard target and if you made one of your 5 shots you got in the finals.   I actually made 3 of the 5.   

 

The finals were held at a private club about two weeks later, they took us all out to the fairway of the 9th hole set at 165 yards and we all got one swing for 1 Million Dollars.   I missed the green by about 20 yards, I stayed and watched.  Al ltodl there were about 50 qualifiers.    Nobody came close, insurance money was safe.  I think we got a sleeve of balls a the qualifier for making it...ha

I took the  Motocaddy M7 for a spin around the course today. You can read about that in the test thread. So today turned out to be old Tom day. No mysterious duck hooks, no fat or thin iron shots. I didn't spend much time at the beach. Just one time I had to put my sand game into action. Long fairway finding drives, hitting greens in regulation. So just boring golf. Two bogies and two birdies to come out even par for the day. I would have liked a few more one putts but I'm not going to complain about even par especially after the last three rounds that had the mysterious duck hooks on a few holes.

I've had comments before from other golfers " It must be boring playing golf like that"  if only it was like that all the time!

Shot a 48 today. Funny thing, that was after starting with a 10 on 1. Followed up with two pars and 6 bogies to finish. In reality could have been even better. No range to hit before my round is what caused my poor start.

So yesterday in a goofing around round, (no score keeping, and trying weird stuff), I decided to fiddle with my fairway woods. I’ve been looking at 7 and 9  woods, as I had been thinking I needed a new 5 wood. I have a cobra f8 5/6 wood that has always been kind of a weird duck. I wanted it to be my 200 yd club,  up it’s been inconsistent and odd to my eye.

soooo, it has a very large assortment of available settings on it, so for fun I cranked it all the way to 20°, and then took my cobra sz 3 wood, and added 1.5° which brought it up to 16°.

it immediately made them both much easier to hit, and now the 20° f8 is like a 7 wood, and goes about 175, with a seriously high ball flight, and the 3 wood is now my 200 yd club.

at least for a week, till I decide to do something else weird. But I must admit, the old f8 that was close to being shelved has suddenly become much more interesting…, and same with the 3 wood…

also weird, I had quit taking my arthritis meds as they were messing with tummy, but the pain everywhere was getting stupid, so back into the good old celebrex, the miracle pill

Played a decent round on a fairly tough course today. Shot 96 today and I miss hit a few long irons but I absolutely crushed a few shots today. Had a run of 6s today again like I did my last round. Not too bad and we had fun today for my friends birthday

Birdied #18 to close the round with a 79.  I did have a double on one of the easier par 4s when I bladed a 9 iron over the green into the woods then hit the comeback shot a bit long and it rolled off the green and into the trap.  Lots of looks at birdie, just couldn't get the ball to fall until 18.

Today was one of those special days where most every part of my game was working pretty well... doesn't happen often.  For some reason I decided to take my Macgregor irons out for a spin, so my bag looked like Callaway Epic driver, 3W, Heavenwood, and 9W; Macgregor VIP V-Foil 1025M 4-PW; Callaway PM Grind 54º and 60º wedges and Ping Sigma G Doon putter.

Playing from our senior White tees, I hit 13/13 fairways and 11/18 greens (a record for me) and had 29 putts.  I birdied hole #1 and hole #13 and missed a few more that were makable.  Shot 2 over on the front nine and even par on the back nine for 74... which is one under my age.  Best round this year... but not as good as last year!!  Got to try harder!!

Great round @Kenny B! It sounds like your driving and irons were on fire. Not gonna lie, but I had to look up the irons and that's one good looking set. Now you just need to get out and try harder to get under par,  El Conquistador.
