How'd you play?

Biggest gamechanger for me with the wedges has been the grind. There's a lot of forgiveness baked into the Edel V grind that I didn't have with my Cobra MIMs. The leading edge relief and the trailing bounce really work well for my swing, especially off of the mushy and wet bluegrass fairways I spend most of my time on.

The moveable weight is a nice touch also, especially in the toe where it really excels around the greens. I can hit a nice high and soft pitch now that really wasn't part of my game before. My short game touch has left me over the past two weeks or so, but overall I'm pretty comfortable around the greens now.

I do miss the black finish of the MIMs, which was much nicer in the harsh morning light. But the Edels have definitely secured their spot in my bag.

Glad to hear...I haven't been as dedicated to the forum as much lately for some personal reasons but the Edel test was one I was looking forward to read.  I'll get into it soon.

Keep up the good play 🙂

Had a decent front nine, felt like I was striking the ball well but was getting lots of bad bounces and kicks. Still managed a 41. But my round fell off the rails on the back nine, started missing my lines and was still getting bad bounces and went on a run of bogeys and doubles.

Somehow though on the last few holes my driver started straightening out a bit from my usual cut, so I decided to take a very aggressive line on the last hole. Started directly over the houses on the left of the hole, with a baby fade to cut the corner. Normally I play this hole safe with an iron into the fairway, since a short drive is in the first pond, and too much fade finds the second pond, but I hit a near-perfect drive and managed to birdie the hole for the first time ever.

IMG_1E5547266BCF-1.jpeg.2718b753feddc9c49bfc9d3189243597.jpeg

Ended up with an 85, which is right on my course handicap. If I had managed to avoid my 6-hole blowup on the back nine (I was +9 on holes 11-16) I feel like breaking 80 was in the cards. Alas, it will have to wait until another day!

I hate bad bounces.  I get more of them than good bounces.  Why can't the ball just go where I aimed it?  🥴

Or as is more the case for me, if the ball is going a little bit right of where I aimed, why does it always bounce further right? Why doesn’t it bounce back to the middle?

I mean, you would think it would be 50/50, but that hasn’t been my experience 😬😜

Yeah, not for awhile; my doctor said to take amoxicillin before the dentist visit.  He thought I should take it before every visit... forever!. Cheap insurance.  However, my dentist said that after a year or so, it's not needed so I quit after 5 years.

Doc told me pretty much the same.  They are supplying me with the antibiotics B4 dentist visit.

Played 10 holes with LarryD today at his club. Respect of lightning chased us off the course.

I was 2 over for 10 holes, lots of really solid shots, 3 memorable 9 woods and a very nice birdie on 1.

I’m hitting it well right now. The course was in great shape.

Yup, every week. My home course is way harder than the numbers would lead you to believe. Anyone that comes in as a guest or even new members all say that the course is not rated properly.

1st time out in 1.5 months and it showed. Measly 89 with 5(!!) 3 putts. Can’t remember having more than 2 in a round before. Also topped my irons like 4 times. Good news is, I “still” shot 89 and drove it great. Only missed 3 fairways and 2 were on the edge. Distance was there too.

After the first one, my dentist prescribed them.  I think they cost $1.00 for a year's supply.  🤣  Only once did I forget to take them one hour before my appt.

Yes, absolutely.  I've read about the method used to establish course rating and slope but many surprise me.

Saturday nine. 47

had some great drives. Rest of the play was not so good. Glad I now have Shotscope to help guide my practice.

had two chances to get on par 5s in two over cooked a 4i on 8  then on 9, somehow pushed my 7i (I haven’t had a push with that club since I got the set).

lots of potential in my game once I piece it together

Played pretty well today... 76 and it was not one of my better driving days.  Shot EVEN par 37 on the front with two birdies and a +4 39 on the back nine.  Bogeys on 10, 11, and 12 was somewhat deflating, but started making pars again that included two sandy pars.

I played pretty good today. Today was the third day of the club championship so pin positions on some of the greens were testy ones. No birdies today but only one bogey on 15. See my rules thread question to understand. I wasn't playing in the championship, I was playing my normal solo 8 am first one off Sunday ritual.

I get to the course and there is a fivesome just about ready to tee off. One was on the range, two putting and two trying to hurry up the other three. Since they were not on the tee box, away I went. I saw them follow right in behind me. It never ceases to amaze me how slowly people can play. To give you a feel for how slow. I was teeing off on 18 (and I played the 17 holes before that!) and they were teeing off on 7.  I even had to wait a couple times for the greens mower and a guy moving pin positions. In two hours and 15 minutes they played 7 holes. They didn't even get to any par 5's yet. They were looking at a 6 hour round on an empty course.
