Popular Post Syks7
41/42 for an 83 today in a Men's club tournament... Walking in 104 degree heat. One stroke off a win in gross and net for my flight. I can honestly say that I think this is the most focused round I have ever played. I was great off the tee 11/14 FIR. Reasonable on approach. only 6 GIR, but the misses were mostly just off for the others and 31 putts. I had a lot of reasonable birdie looks inside 15' but couldn't get one to drop. I ended with 10 pars, 6 bogeys, a double, and a triple. All six of the bogey cleanups were tap ins after burning the edge. Just like Will Zalatoris I'm a couple inches away from hitting pay dirt. The double was dumb dumb. I was just off the green on a par 3, got too cute and drop kicked my bump, left 12', burned the edge, the promptly lipped out the resulting two footer, before finally tapping in for the crowd pleasing double. The triple was the result of two bad swings. Off the tee I drop kicked a ball right into the hazard in front of the tee. Laying three I hit a very conservative 6 iron to 230 at the dog leg. I then pulled three wood swung for the fences and promptly sliced shot 4 into the trees. Hit a great 58 over and around some trees to 25' and two putted. Ugh. I'm proud of myself though I took it shot by shot, stayed focused, and matched my personal best for pars in a competition. Side note: I think hydration was really key to staying focused today. I brought 6 bottles of water and gatorade with the aim to drink one every hole (refilling one or more every hole). It almost worked too well. I thought I might wet my pants standing on the sixth green and had to hustle over to the bathrooms right after holing out. cnosil, GolfSpy_SHARK, JerryB and 11 others 12 2 Quote Driver 0311 Gen 5 -- Tensei CK Orange 60 Woods 0341 3W -- Tensei AV Raw Blue Hybrids 0317X 2&4 -- Tensei AV Raw Blue Irons ZX7 4/AW -- C-Taper Lite 110 Wedges T7 55º @55/7 -- TT DG Spinner Putter DF2.1 or Link.1 -- Accra Ball Zstar Diamond

Popular Post ole gray
I was not sure which thread to post this in but here goes my thoughts on my golfing scores/results thus far in 2022. Best year EVER for most rounds shot in the 70's. I've shot more sub 80 rounds this year than I have in the previous decade. With that said, it's August with a few months left to add even more. My goal is to shoot my age (71) and it bumps to 72 in November so I'll have another stroke to play with. My lowest round this year was a 74 with two doubles so I could have shot my age if only for those two holes. Oh well my eyes are on the prize and I'm going to nail that sucker before 2023 arrives. You gotta believe! How have I shot boocoo rounds below 80? *I've practiced a ton with my short game from 40 yards in and have gained a significant amount of skill in that area. ** I am now gaming equipment that I have 100 % confidence in and when you are comfortable with your sticks, good things can happen. *** I am driving the ball further and straighter than I have in MANY years. Ball in the fairway or close to it equals better scores. This year I have hit drives on certain holes that I only could have dreamt of in the past. I work out hard at my gym three days per week so strength is a big bonus but at my age flexibility trumps muscles. I'm ready for some cooler temps to keep me fresh for my shooting 71 . I walk 95% of my rounds so the heat this year has been rough. Less humidity will definitely help keep my focus up for the back nines. Let's get er done! Popular Post David Leighton Reid
A couple of weeks ago I played in our annual Club Championship Tournament. The format of the tournament was everyone (except the senior division) played the white tees on Saturday, with the top 12 golfers and ties playing in the Championship Flight on Sunday from the back tees. I told my wife on Saturday morning that my goal was to shoot good enough to get in the Championship Flight, even though I cannot compete with many of the better and younger players. Early round CC jitters settled down after 3 holes and I turned in a 75, which earned me a spot in the Championship flight playing against some talented high school, college, and low handicap golfers. Once again the CC jitters surfaced on Sunday and I was 3 over after 2 holes. After 11 holes I was 4 over par and we had a 1 hour rain delay. On resuming play, I did not adjust well to the wet conditions on the greens and bogeyed 6 of my remaining 7 holes. I finished with an 82, which placed me in 8th place for the tournament. At 63 years old, I was by far the oldest golfer in the Championship Flight. Popular Post TR1PTIK
Great round today after a shaky start. Played Grand Oaks in Grand Prairie, TX. I've never played there before, but it was an okay course. Not a place I'd regularly go to as it's a bit lush for my liking - ball sitting up in the fairways and slow greens - but decently fun and demanding in just the right ways. Started the round bogey, triple, double then slowly righted the ship to finish 43 (+7) on the front. My buddy clipped me by 1 stroke for the first time and made the mistake of saying something to me about it (all in jest). So, I played the back 9 in 40 (+5) to beat him for the round and shoot an 83 - all on a course I've never seen before! I've really seen a new level of consistency in my swing that will hopefully get me where I feel I should be - single digit handicap and shooting in the 70's more often. I 2-chipped on 5 holes on the front or else I might have been in the 70's today. Oh well... Popular Post CarlH
Today's format for our group was 3 best ball gross (max double bogey). My team (A, B, C, and D players) started out with my par and their 3 doubles followed by my par and their 3 doubles ... Not a good start for sure. Things didn't get all that much better for the rest of the round. I stumbled on the par 3s badly -- dropped 2 balls in the water on #4, dropped another on #7 (and I typically retire a golf ball due to wear rather than lose one) and then doubled another par 3 (just not because of water). I shot an 83 for the day (4 over my course handicap). My team mates came in with a 93, 95, and 95. We did not place (unless you count DFL as placing ). Popular Post RollingGreens
Played both days this weekend. 95 Saturday 86 today. The 95 was about as bad as it gets. The statement you are only as good as your misses holds true. My missed are awful, they cost me at least an extra shot on 9 holes today. It’s a mix of everything. Tee shots, irons, and short game. My putting has been good but I haven’t left myself close enough to really hole anything out. My bunker game is getting me out efficiently but I am too far away from the pin to capitalize. I’m trying to make adjustments in the fly and it’s killing me. Picking different clubs to try and pin hunt. The misses are amplified and the errors compounded. I put together a few holes at the end of the day with 4 straight pars, prior to that my confidence was minimal. Constantly not trusting my lines or the clubs I was pulling. Time to get some needed practice in this week to get the swagger back for next weekend! sirchunksalot, CarlH, MattF and 14 others 17 Quote Stealth 2 Plus 9deg Kai' li Red Stealth 2 13deg Aldilla Rogue Silver Stealth 2 15deg Aldilla Rogue Silver JPX 921 Hot Metal 4-PW Nippon Modus 120s SM8 54 and 58deg Dynamic Gold Wedge Flex Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Titleist ProV1 Hoofer Stand Bag Stewart Q Follow Electric Caddie 300 PRO Rangefinder Official Nippon Regio B+ Driver Shaft Review Official Stewart Q Follow Review

Popular Post fixyurdivot
I played Cottonwood Hills in Bozeman today with another single. We both checked in close to the same time hoping to hook up with a group and thought we had been paired with a twosome but they never showed up at the tee when we got called. We waited as long as we could and looked back as we made our way down #1 fairway in case they showed... nope... weird. I started off rather horrid with bogey's on the first 5 holes. I was spared two DB's by making lengthy putts. On #6 I hit a good tee shot and followed up with an ugly, ground hugging second shot that found its way onto the green. That 2 putt got me off the bogey train and I pared out the rest of the front for a 41. I kept that mojo going all the way to #15 which I bogied but then pared out the rest of the way for a 37. To be quite honest, it didn't feel like a 78 in that my aim seemed off most of the round - left, right, left, right. But I did make good contact and was never in trouble on any hole. I did make more than my average of longer putts and that was likely the key factor. I hadn't played in a couple of weeks and it felt good seeing balls fly... mostly as intended . sirchunksalot, JerryB, Kenny B and 11 others 14 Quote G410 Plus, 9 Degree Driver G400 SFT, 16 Degree 3w G400 SFT, 19 Degree 5w ZX5 Irons 4-AW Glide 2.0 56 Degree SW (removed from double secret probation ) ER5v Putter (Evnroll ER5v Official Review) AI-One Milled Seven T CH (Currently Under Product Test)
Popular Post sandpounder
Played as a single today. What an experience! I have been playing very well as of late. Shot a 78, which was a good round for me. But it is what happened that was unusual. Got paired with a nice older couple and another single. Everything was going fine but I could tell something was off with the other single. He was antisocial, not saying a word, and separating himself from the others in our group. At the 10th he hit into a greenside bunker. We were marking our balls & repairing ball marks when he yelled "hey I am not hitting until you all look at me". We got it, he was getting ready to play out. We watched. He skulled it straight across the green like a line drive. The ball bounced solidly off a tree trunk. He came out of the bunker screaming every profanity in the book. He threw his club 50 yards into the next fairway. He went to his bag and pulled out a couple more clubs and threw them as well. The whole time he was out of control. The woman in our group was scared. We all were silent as he rampaged on & on. It was a true fit of rage. He got in his cart and left. We were all relieved but shook up at the total loss of control we just observed. I have golfed for 25 years and never saw that kind of behavior before. Popular Post JerryB
After a week off due to increased OT at work, I finally got back on at the front nine of River Heights with Owen today. He'd played a couple times over the weekend while I managed to get a range session last night. We played bad enough that Owen stopped keeping score, lol. Owen had issues with shooting up and topping a number of shots and he managed to chunk his driver twice, to the point that he put it away for the back half of the round. My driver was poor but mostly serviceable but the rest of my woods and hybrids were bad. My irons were better than recently but still only about half good and half bad. Putting was actually a relative strength. I two putted just about every hole and most of the seconds were tap ins. Shot Scope says I shot 53 but I haven't had the chance to edit post round so I suspect it's a little higher. sirchunksalot, RollingGreens, GolfSpy_SHARK and 10 others 13 Quote Cobra Aerojet Max driver Cobra Aerojet Max 3 wood and 7 wood Cobra Aerojet 4/5/6 hybrids Cobra Aerojet 7-PW, GW Cobra Snakebite 52° and 58° wedges Cobra King Stingray 20 putter
Popular Post Kenny B
I didn't play all last week after I got home from Monte's clinic in Seattle on Monday. I spent time on the range working on my drills Monte gave me. I did play on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday my driver was AWOL... apparently trying to make a bigger backswing didn't sit well with it. Shot 85. Yesterday, my driver was almost back to normal, but it was my short irons that cost me... two approach shots in the water for two doubles, but still shot 80. Today... back to the driving range and more drills. As the temp was up to 92 at 11am, here's a pic of the silver umbrella brigade on the #10 tee... Popular Post bens197
Took dad out for 9 this afternoon. Opening birdie with a driver, 7 iron to 20 feet on the first. Made one additional bird, missed 2 inside 10 feet and shot 38 with a double. Fanned this one out to the right but ended up flying the trees, stuck a lob wedge to 8 feet for birdie number 2 for the day. Popular Post ncwoz
Another really solid league night, carded +4 with just pars and bogies. Was playing really really solid tee to green but the putter let me down a bit. That's usually the best part of my game, but tonight I lost almost 2 strokes there and gained everywhere else. I'm a little curious to get a range session in sometime soon just to do a little check in, but I've been really really happy with how my swing has held up even when I haven't been able to practice like I would prefer! cksurfdude, MDGolfHacker, Vegan_Golfer_PNW and 9 others 12 Quote Right Handed Driver: 9° Speedzone (HZRDUS Smoke Green 70g X-Stiff shaft) 2 Hybrid: 18° Exotics EXS Pro (Evenflow Black 6.5) (2020 MGS Official Review here) 3/Driving Iron: 18° UiHi Iron (MMT Utility TX 105g shaft) Irons: 4-GW T100 irons (Nippon Modus 120 X-Stiff shafts) (2021 MGS Official Review here) Wedges: 54° & 58° TSW Forged (Dynamic Gold S300) Putter: ER2B (2019 MGS Official Review here) Ball: MAXFLI Tour X Bag: Hoofer Lite WITB thread here
Popular Post edingc
Swing has felt like garbage since about two weeks ago, and the scores have been following the swing, unfortunately. I think I can count on one hand the number of quality shots I've hit over my past six or seven rounds. All sorts of issues with driver, irons have lost about a club of distance. Blah. I can tell it's getting toward the end of the season. Averaging about 10 shots over my handicap over those rounds. If not for decent putting and short game, it'd be worse! Although I can blame the state of my game on lack of play, and the few AM rounds I have gotten in don't really allow for much time to warm up before we start. Next week will be better though.
