Going into the singles, team Purple is ahead by 5 points. I was in the first group. The matches were paired with golfers of similar abilities and scores were gross with no strokes given. After pushing the first hole, I promptly lost the next 3 holes then lost another hole on #8 to be 4 down with 10 to play. I parred #9 to finally win a hole and I'm 3 down at the turn. I knuckled down and fought my way back and at the end of the 16th hole we were all square. We push the next hole and tee off on 18. My opponent hits a monster drive, easily 50 yards ahead of me in the fairway (par 5). I hit my next shot and it drifts down into a hollow in the rough about 114 yards from the elevated green. My opponent finds the fairway inside of 100 yards. I hit my shot pin high, but I pushed it to the right enough to be just off the fringe in some light rough. My opponent strikes his ball and it goes above the hole, leaving himself a downhill putt of 7 feet or so. Taking no chances, I opt to put from off the green and it falls about 4 feet below the pin. My opponent misses his birdie putt and I concede his par putt. I drain my putt to be all square and split the point. So, I overcame a 4 shot deficit by hitting 10 straight pars shooting a 42 on the front and a 36 on the back! Team Purple went on the win the trophy 27-21. That's me in the back row 3rd from the left Congratulations!! Popular Post RichL85
Rough round today. Was hoping to follow up last week's round with something similar, but today was just a generally rough day. I couldn't seem to get myself to trust the swing. I've been putting in the work to make the improvements, it just didn't travel to the course today. Wasn't able to manage stringing anything together. Hit a solid drive, push the approach right, decent pitch, miss the putt by an inch. Bogey. Irons were mostly pushes to the right, driver was tending to go left on me more than usual. It was a weird round. My "lazy swing" came to course today and brought along all of the issues that come with it. On top of that, it was incredibly slow today. Last week my round felt slow and took right around 3 hours. Today it was a little more than 4 hours, and I skipped 3 holes to avoid the parking lot that gathered on 13-15. I was sitting behind 2 or 3 groups on every hole and when I got to 13 I was looking at 2 groups waiting to tee off, both of which were pretty slow groups themselves. I couldn't take it anymore. Popular Post edingc
Managed two nines this weekend, carding a 41 on the back Saturday and a 37 playing alongside my brother-in-law on the front yesterday. The 41 came with a penalty after putting my tee shot on No. 17 on the driving range. I did drive the ball decently both days, working on some grip focuses that have helped. I'm realizing when I try to strengthen my driver grip I tend to just roll my forearms to do so which does nothing more than open the face up. Actually hit a couple of baby draws after correcting that. Something to work on. Irons continue to be pretty solid and the swing in general feels as good as it has all year. Handicap has been trending up a little but overall I'm pleased with where things have gotten to this season. Popular Post cnosil
40/36:76. 12 FW, 10 GIR, 31 putts. Not my best ball striking or putting day but managed to score pretty well. Used the mentality of get the ball on the green and let it roll out when I missed greens and it was effective and I ended up pretty close to the hole on those shots. Looking at strokes gained, I lost less than a stroke in short game and putting to a scratch golfer so I am happy. cksurfdude, MattF, MattWillGolf and 9 others 12 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: TS3 15* w/Project X Hzardous Smoke Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/:Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: TM-180 Testing: Backups: Milled Collection RSX 2, mFGP2, Futura 5W Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017

For me it was the thought of strengthening the grip by rotating my lead wrist, not rotating the entire lead forearm/elbow. I was getting to the point where my lead elbow was pointing too much toward the target at address. Reigning that back in toward my hip and then using my wrist only keeps everything much more square back and through. This makes sense given I remember watching a Bryson YouTube video where he talks about feeling the left elbow pointing at the target and when he does that he can't hit it left at all. 6 minutes ago, Vegan_Golfer_PNW said: You could try ball position up 1/2” to start in you don’t want to mess with grip The caveat for me with a forward ball position is what happened to me on 2/4 drives yesterday - straight pull to the left. Popular Post MattWillGolf
This morning’s 9 holes was ok. There was nothing horrible but nothing exceptional. I had only one poor drive. I hit solid shots but today they seemed to clip branches and end up in positions that kept me from going at greens. My chipping was much more solid than my last round. Scratch that, there will be no tweaking of my grip. When I played Sunday, my back and right hip were a little tight and I could not loosen them up. Last night in league, they felt much better. Without any grip changes, I was pounding the driver, which was great. The only problem is any semblance of fade was mostly gone - I was hitting the ball dead straight which landed me in trouble on the left too many times. Finally, on the last hole I aimed down the middle. Of course the fade shows up when I don't want it to. Fortunately, it was far enough right that I had a shot. The first three holes and last two were perfectly acceptable. +1 on those 5 holes with two birdie putts that stopped 1 revolution short. The 4 holes in between were a hot mess, with 2 penalties, a false front that repelled an approach, and some less-than-desirable putting that led to me being +8 on those four holes. Ugh. It was also one of those nights where if there was any luck to be had, it was all bad - my friend and I both hit second shots on 16 that we pushed to the right - his sat down in the rough a few feet from the green, mine kicked way right about 20 yards from the green (it did make me feel better that I was closer to the pin than him after the next shots). In the end, I feel like I was playing better than the score on the card, but that's golf, I guess. Popular Post Vegan_Golfer_PNW
Had a 51 on the back nine at Forest Hills today. Shot scope told me this was my best SG for driver today but I find that hard to believe as I was all over the place (fadey) and even had one that was only 174 (hit a tree and then rolled down a hill). Doing SS training prior was probably not a good idea even with a 30 min rest after. Granted I had not penalties from the driver so that probably helped. I had 3 pars but way to many ugly numbers. I felt my short game was better but that was my worst SG for the round. Had a few chips that lead to solid pars. Putting about the same as the last nine. Had three lip outs that would have put it in plus territory and would have cut down on a couple three putts. As well had a 30 ft uphill put that i hit to 1 ft that would have been for birdie. Approach game today really hurt me. Had a water ball and then a lost ball on two of the last three holes. The water ball came after an amazing drive on a par 4 (see shot of the day). The lost ball was my 3rd into 18 (par 5). I was 205 out and over drew a 5i (i need to learn to feel hitting a push draw with my long irons to avoid this) and i lost it over by the cart path/range area. Also had a PW on 11 (downhill par 3) that I almost lost left (was odd, i never hook my short irons). Anyways, a fun morning to get out. The three pars were awesome. I just need to string some solid holes together and avoid big numbers. Picture is number 17. Down hill par 3. Ended up parting and just missed the birdie by a foot from 22 feet out. Popular Post Sluggo42
Shot me a really clean +1 today, 3 bogies, and 2 birdies. Lipped a birdie attempt on 18, darn it! short game and putting ruled the day. 26 putts. Saved a lot of strokes on 5-10 foot putts that made the difference. Usually they don’t fall, or the little chips aren’t close enuff, but today they worked. Popular Post edingc
The "regular" part of my season is officially over after this morning's round. Mixed emotions as that means summer is pretty much over and now I shift into fall mode. Just not enough daylight early in the mornings anymore to get a full 18 in before work without taking a bunch of vacation time. Weather will soon follow, I'm sure. We've actually had somewhere between 3"-4" of rain fall Sunday evening through Monday evening, and the course was closed until Tuesday evening for cleanup. Everything is pretty wet and still not a joy to play on. Still hitting the ball really well, and I'm slightly bummed that despite trying to play 18 the past two days, I had to quit after nine due to there being a lot of groups off the back right as I made the turn. No way to make it to work in time trying to play through. 41 yesterday, 38 today. Driver was excellent today leading to six pars and a birdie. Just one bogey and a bad double that was unfortunate. I hit a beautiful 4 utility that just caught a branch on the right side and sat down in some trees and had issues getting out. With a few exceptions I'm probably down to playing nine holes for the rest of the season now as I move into the offseason. cnosil, cksurfdude, ejgaudette and 9 others 12 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 7.5 / Anti-Cap: 13.0 (Last Updated Feb. 19, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°, -1/N), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B.
