CarlH
Morning game was rained out, but I did join a couple of guys to play 9 later. They played the tees forward of my usual tees, so since it was just the 3 of us, those are the tees that I played. The difference between the tees that I play and the ones just behind me aren't that great, but the next set forward is obvious. There are several holes that require me to use a long hybrid or more from my tees....today, I was hitting short irons into the greens. Still managed to screw up a hole when I hit a hosel rocket with my wedge. Shot 38 for the 9. I'll be staying on my usual tees for the foreseeable future as I think it's the best fit for me at this point. If you want to know how it performed, go check out the Official Forum Member Review thread. Hint: it was awesome and fun! I got to the course without a tee time, but the gentleman in the pro shop let me tee off on 10, my nemesis hole. Started out bogey, bogey, double, bogey, bogey...then the wheels fell off with a nine on a par 4. Bad drive followed by a couple of bad recoveries, a bladed wedge leaving a long downhill putt that was 20 feet short, then blew the next one 10 feet past the hole and drained the putt to avoid a four putt. Speaking of the putter, it was money today. Aside from the one hole, I sunk 4 putts outside 10 feet and one from 25 feet from the fringe. My driver was terrible until the last two driver holes where I hit great drives. Irons, hybrid, and were decent and that's better than normal. I just got in my head for a couple of holes and was hitting at and not through the ball. I shot 50 and since I don't play the back as often, I was happy with the score. It was just a fun day to be out and right now I'm hoping all the rain forecasted for the next 4 days goes away. No rain forcasted by me. Ben_Howell34
Played Bent Brook again today, shot 41/39 for an 80. Very happy with my game right now, driving and approaching much better than in the past. Only hit 6 greens but missed a few more just off the fringe. Had zero birdies, had 3 burn the edge and 1 literally do a 360 out of the cup. Shot of the day on 18 I hit a drive on a par 4 right at 370 yards. Thought it went in the water well before that, was about to drop then I see it about 25 yards from the green. Not sure how it hit it so far, must have gotten cart path then perfect roll out. Vegan_Golfer_PNW
50 on the front nine of Forest hills. Had 18 putts but that was with a 3 and a 4 putt. 3 pars. Some on course decisions were bad. Tried to play a few punchy hooks that didn’t work. Short game was still poor on SG. Mainly with my 54 chipping. My chips with the 58 both times were within 3 feet. I did spend 25 mins before round putting and chipping. Then did some after the round and got some better feel with the 54. I feel this should kick in soon if I can get a little more practice. Could have had a 4th par if I didn’t tip a 54ft putt (sometimes happens heads up putting). Also my driver wasn’t really their albeit SG saying it was still +4 to a 20 handicap. Had multiple that hit trees or hooked. Only really hit three solid drives all day and they were beautiful. Sadly a shanked 8i ruined one but that golf and that happens. Also need some work with my 4w from the turf. Probably no golf until the 17th of the month. Then nasal surgery on the 22 to fix my deviated septum. Then on to full off-season work and practice rounds. Finally my last drive left me in a precarious spot. ejgaudette, cksurfdude, CarlH and 7 others 9 1 Quote Follow my journey to enjoying golf and going low Driver: Epic Max LS Ventus Black 6x 44.5" 3wHL: Rogue ST LS 75x Tensei AV Blue w/ xlink 7w: Apex UW 21* MMT 80S DI: Caley 01X 18* with KBS PGH Stiff plus 95g 4-AW: 0211 with KBS Tour Stiff 2.5* up 3/4" long, Soft stepped, MOI matched Wedges Zipcore Putter: L.A.B. Today was the opposite - I don't feel like I was hitting the ball that well, but I scored well, mostly thanks to 28 putts. Almost the round of my life. The front is easier than the back as it's a little more open and conducive to scrambling. Ended up with a 38 on the front (with a birdie on 4) and then I birdied 10. 12-15 is a really tough stretch (especially for someone who is accuracy-challenged with long clubs) and I made it through those 4 at +4, so I was pretty pleased. Finished with doubles on 17 and 18, which sucks, but overall pretty pleased with how I played. Unlike last time I played, most of the bounces seemed to go my way this time. I'll take a little extra luck whenever I can get it. I decided to try a Chrome soft X LS I had found. Gross. I hated it. Seemed shorter off the tee, although driver wasn't great today, and kind of meh around the greens. I did like the triple track though. Supposed to play again Monday at a course I shot an 81 at last month, but rain is supposed to be coming soon. Popular Post GolfSpy TCB
My weekly men's club event was set up as a Scramble today, so score wasn't really relevant. But I did hit 12/14 fairways, and 13/18 greens. It was WET on the course today... so all carry, no roll in the fairways... but was averaging ~240 which is pretty good for me - especially with limited roll out. Oh, I do miss the dry hard fairways of the hot summer months... my driving stats looked so much better!! haha. But we need the water on the course, so I'm not complaining. I have a Sunday game tomorrow if I'm not rained out... hoping my driver and approach shots have a long memory from today's round. Popular Post CarlH
Good day on the course today. My team didn't fare well, but I shot well. I bogeyed #8 when my approach shot found the sand to shoot 37 on the front. A birdie on 10 got me back to even....then.... 5 bogeys in a row and I'm thinking "come on, Carl...don't let this round get away from you". Birdie on the par 3 16th hole and followed up by a par on 17 and 18 to come in with a 39 on the back. 76 for the round. My best score on this course (9 months of play since moving here). @dlow206great job blasting past 90! Popular Post TheCanadianBogeyman
Easily the best round of golf I've played today. Got out for first tee time, so no one to slow me up. I always have 3 goals before each round: no lost balls, no 3 putts, and no double bogeys. Today was the first time I achieved them all together. 41 front 9 (a good score for me, but not amazing or anything). Now I usually can only hold it together for 9 holes before falling apart. But today, I think because it was such a quick round, I was able to keep things under control. 37 back 9 with a birdie to finish and my first time breaking 80! Not the best I have struck the ball on tee shots or approaches, but probably the smartest golf I have played. No going for it or ego shots, just play it back out of trouble and try to scramble well. And scramble I did. The best my short game has every been working. 31 putts for the round with no 3 putts! However, I suppose that all depends on how large the greens are and how much slope back-to-front they have. ... You know your game Kenny so not directed at you but since most golfers come up short more than 90% of the time, I think they should: Hit to the middle/back yardage for a front pin. Hit to the back for a middle pin And this is the tricky part but hit over the green to a back pin. Unless there is trouble over the green. ... Playing with so many mid to high index players I rarely (if ever) see anyone hit a shot over the back of the green unless it is a mishit. I am not talking about thin shots with low spin surlyn balls that rolled over the back of the green but a reasonably good shot. The amount of times I see a player hit a shot short of the green or just on the front dwarfs any other scenario's with decently struck shots. So many base their yardage on their best shots, not their average or worse shots and unfortunately most hit more worse shots than their best shots. Popular Post PMookie
I played yesterday, shot 78, but it could’ve been a really low round! I missed FIVE birdie putts inside 10 feet, made TWO that were tap-ins on par 5s. Ugh. First two holes, two missed birdies! Ultimately my driver accuracy killed me, and of course the putting… MattF, cksurfdude, mikeanthony and 9 others 12 Quote Driver: Ping G430 Max 9*, Ping Tour 70X Fairway: Ping G425 15*, Ping Tour 70X Hybrid: Ping G425 22*, Ping Tour 80X Irons: Ping i230 4-GW, TT DG X100 Wedges: SMS 50D/54V/58DModus 130 stiff, +1” Putter: EAS 1.0 Ball: Titleist 2023 AVX
Popular Post GolfSpy TCB
Played a really solid round today tee to green, but nothing exceptional.. Course was playing really soft today with all the rain we have had recently. Struggled a bit with the putter, 4 three putts today... all after hitting the green in regulation. 5 bogeys, 13 pars. 39/38... 77. Hoping to take advantage of the holiday tomorrow to get one more round in before diving back into the work week. sirchunksalot, Kenny B, ejgaudette and 8 others 10 1 Quote Titleist TSR3 9* (A2 setting) Driver - Graphite Design Tour AD UB-5 R1 Titleist TSR2+ 3 Wood - Graphite Design Tour AD UB-5 R1 Srixon ZX 5W Callaway Paradym 4-PW Titleist Vokey SM9 50-08, 54-10 & 58-08 Scotty Cameron Super Select Newport 2.5 2023 Titleist ProV1
Popular Post Micah T
Company tournament this Thursday, so I decided I’d play a recon round today at the same course.(Thanksgiving Point) Shot 7 over with no birdies, hit driver on a lot of holes I wouldn’t normally, but since it’ll be a scramble I figured I wanna see it fly. Glad I got to see some putts, this course is on the savage side.(76.1/144 from the forward tees). Fairways were a tad on the soft side… GolfSpy_SHARK, Kenny B, cksurfdude and 10 others 6 7 Quote Driver - Cobra LtDxLS 3 Wood - Ping g410 LST 2iron - Titleist U505 Irons - Ping i59 Wedges - Vokey Sm9 Putter - Mizuno Mcraft IV

Popular Post sirchunksalot
I played a round with @Tom the Golf Nut today at his home course while doing a comparison between the Stewart Q Follow and MotoCaddy trolleys for the Official Forum Member Review. I was worried it was going to be stormy today, but we were blessed with wonderful weather and only had to deal with a couple of minor sprinkles. I didn't keep score, today was about the fellowship between fellow members and having fun while walking his beautiful, hilly course. If I were to guess, I would say I shot just north of 100. My driver was better today than it has been in a long time, I hit several fairways and most of my offline shots weren't penalizing. I lost 3 balls, one in a gully and one on a shanked iron shot. My approach game was good, I hit or was close to several greens in regulation. I hit a couple of greens on par 3's one to about 12 feet where I three putted. I did get a kick watching a group we were letting play through putt on one of the greens where they were above the hole and were tapping the ball and it was rolling over 30 feet past. It was a devious hole location. After they finished they asked if we had the same problem and we said nope. We both two putted. My putter was money on most holes. I did three putt a couple of times, but for the most part I was lagging them into make range. Tom played well and it was a joy watching him hit beautiful driver shot after beautiful driver shot. My shot of the day came on the 18th where I hit a wedge to the back of the green leaving a 35 foot downhill left to right putt. I told Tom I would just sink it just to finish right. The ball took off on my line and looked like it was going to miss right until it took a left turn at the end and went in. Thanks again, Tom for having me up. I thoroughly enjoyed the golf and fellowship with you. mikeanthony, Kenny B, MattF and 16 others 13
