Before saying anything I had 3 pretty good partners as far as having an enjoyable day so absolutely no complaints since it was free, got a nice Johnny-O polo, lunch, drinks all round long and after round hors d'oeuvres. That said they were 1. beginner golfer with 2. his dad a "13" the had to be on his home course index and 3. an 18 that was just all over the place. Needless to say I had to play mostly safe shots and unable to take on pins because we usually had no balls on the green. We used every one of my tee shots but one when I tried to hit a huge drive and caught a low screamer in the heel. The most frustrating part was too many mid-short putts with quick sharp breaks and my 3 pards constantly played the low side often missing by 2 feet or more so putting 4th I had little idea what the break was on the high side and just had a hard time making putts. Those that weren't tap in's and handled by my pards just wouldn't fall with 3 high side lip outs so I only made 2 putts. Equally frustrating on long putts they were just very erratic, particularly the 13 that would hit putts 6 feet or more offline so no help at all. Did I men sion they were good guys though? ... Obviously I pretty much played by myself as far as score and we ended up just 3 under. 18 under won and with 36 groups playing the 2nd best score was 9 under so that winning group was silly stacked with ex D1 players and a mini tour guy. I hit a 295yd drive on the longest drive hole and lost by about 50 yds LOL. Same group took long drive and closest to the pin that was 2 inches. All in all a really great day! That polo is KILLER! nice tee package!! It's been a while since I raked in some nice Tourney Swag... GolfSpy_SHARK
20 mph rinds made for a very interesting round. 82 (+10) with all bogey/par which is a feat for me. Had a rough stretch in the back of +7 and 5 bogeys in a row. Played very conservatively for the most part. The front was playing really well and the driver got finnacky on the back so swapped to the new driving iron….this sucker isn’t going anywhere. The feel is fantastic and is everything I got it for, will be doing an unofficial at some point on it. Glad I got out as the season is winding down. Popular Post edingc
Rare October 18 for me this morning. Up-and-down 78 / 77 adjusted. Should have been -3 after five holes but missed a one-foot tap-in and then proceeded to bogey five of the next six holes. Got it together for back-to-back birdies on 12 and 13, saved par on 14, felt like I might have something with 13 and 14 having great drives. But I missed fairways on the last three holes by well over 30-50 yards each and limped away. Just cannot close out my rounds lately, driver has been a total bummer. Doesn't help that 16-18 is such a tough finishing stretch. RichL85
During my fitting last week the fitter and I talked about needing options to deal with the holes where driver is too long. To give an idea what I mean by that I didn't hit driver until the 8th hole today. My course has 3 different 9's and the "Valley" 9 has a lot of fairly short 330-380 yard par 4s with dog legs right around the 200 yard spot. Hit mostly hybrids off the tee to start and got to use driver more on the back 9. Ended up shooting 43/44 for an 87. For someone that had only broken 90 once before this year, I feel like I can see the improvements. It was honestly one of those weird days where I felt that overall I hit the ball well, I just didn't score well. Had a painful 3 putt when my first putt hit some goose droppings and just died. Was going to be tough enough to 2 putt from 60+ feet, but that did not help. For new clubs that I didn't dial in the distances yet, I hit some shots long but for the most part my approaches were just a little off to the right. This hole was a combination of both. Hit it a little long and to the right and it took a wicked bounce long. A few missed opportunities with some wedges and just not quite doing enough with the short game to give myself shorter first putts and the round could have been so much better. If that's my mediocre game now, I'm ecstatic compared to where I was. The PXG irons have such a different sound than I am used to, it's just a lot of fun to hear them struck well. I had about 20 minutes hitting the 7 irons and 19 degree hybrid into the net yesterday, and about 40 shots of warmup with a wedge, an iron, and the driver. That was as much as I had swung the new clubs before playing. Took around 2.5 hours for the front and only 1.5 for the back. Was waiting on every shot for the first 12 holes until the group in front finally let me play through. edingc, ejgaudette, Kenny B and 6 others 8 1 Quote Driver: PXG 0811XF Gen 4 w/ Fujikura Motore X F3 6- 3 Wood: PXG 0341XF Gen 4 w/ Mitsubishi Diamana S+ 70g Hybrids: 19 and 22 degree PXG 0317XF Gen 4 w/ Project X Evenflow Riptide 80g Irons: 5-PW PXG 0311P Gen 4 w/ KBS Tour 120 Wedges: Indi 50 FLX, 54 FLX, 58 ATK w/ KBS Wedge 610 (Official Review) Putter: Battle Ready Blackjack, 36.5”, Double Bend neck Spornia SPG-7 hitting net review 2023 Titleist White Box ProV1 review

Popular Post DiscipleofPenick
I played Fri & Sat. Friday was one of my best ball striking rounds of the season. Greens were punched so only 1 birdie, but +4 on a really fun course. On Saturday it was cooler and more wind. For the most part my game stayed where it was, great ball striking, couldn't make a putt. Other than a 3 hole stretch where I went bogey-double-bogey with 2 penalties it was the same as Friday. Though after those holes I rallied and parred in the last 3. With the par 5 18th playing 600 yards per Arrcos. Popular Post JerryB
Walked the front nine at River Heights today. After gaming a little too much last night, Owen was not interested in waking up this morning, so off I went. Had a sleeve of Max Fli Soft Fli matte blue balls to try out. Who in the world plays these balls?? Lost them all pretty quickly, lol. Couldn't track them to save my life. On the first two holes I just walked to about where I thought they should be; found it the first time but couldn't find it on the second. Went double double par double on the first four holes as I went through that sleeve, then switched to a found yellow DT Solo and bogeyed the rest of the holes. Mixed a few really frustrating shots with some pretty inspiring ones to go (+11) 47 and feel pretty good about the next round. Popular Post GolfSpy BOS
Long overdue to post this one, but got out for a round while we were up in NH and it was a milestone round for me! I woke up to a beautiful sunrise on the lake with expectations of a brisk, but sunny fall morning round. No, the milestone was not because of my own play... I did shoot an even 35, but that wasn't the highlight of the day. It was the first round for my middle child and I was excited to see him play! My oldest son also played from his first official set of tees (they had purple junior tees ranging from 200 to about 250 yards for par 4 and par 5 holes). We all played with my Father-in-law and it was *brisk* 40* and quite foggy when we teed off. The sun finally poked out as we were heading off the course and heading back to the lake house. It's certainly one of those memories I'll cherish forever! JerryB
Owen and I played the back nine at River Heights today. They're starting to punch the greens and were working somewhere on the front so we took off on the back. Owen started rough and put four balls in the water on the first three holes and stopped keeping score. He came around and finished pretty strong, though. Me, on the other hand, I started well by going par par before getting a double bogey with some awful putting. Then I had three straight one-putt bogeys that were waylaid by wonky approach shots. Followed that with a three putt double bogey on a par five that taught me the importance of changing my setup when I grip down on a club. The final two holes were already aerated so I'm not too down on them, but I had birdie looks on both and walked away with bogeys. All in all, I shot a really good (+9) 45, so I can't complain one bit! ejgaudette, MaxEntropy, Vegan_Golfer_PNW and 6 others 8 1 Quote Cobra Aerojet Max driver Cobra Aerojet Max 3 wood and 7 wood Cobra Aerojet 4/5/6 hybrids Cobra Aerojet 7-PW, GW Cobra Snakebite 52° and 58° wedges Cobra King Stingray 20 putter
Grand Stranded
So I learned something today, and it ended the brief competition I wanted to have between the PXG XP irons and the Cleveland Halos. The Halos are like cheating. If I’m a little off with the PXGs I pay the price for it. With the Halos, unless I put a horrible move on the ball, I’m getting a decent or better result. Decision made. The Halos win by an early round KO. The XPs are great irons, but I know I’ll never want to switch them into my gamer bag over the Clevelands. It was wort scratching the itch though thanks to the 100% money back guarantee PXG’s running right now.
