Popular Post rkj427
Played another round on Saturday with a friend, and we also we grouped with another single to make a threesome on a sunny, and 60 degree day at the end of October. I didn't keep score, wanted to use this as a potential last round practice round and hit as many shots with the clubs I have been hitting well throughout this past season. I did use driver on most holes which required it, and only missed 1 fairway, although my iron shots on the par 3's all seemed to be draws that went left of the green. Ironic thing is an iron from the fairway usually went straight. A lot of leaves fell this past week, as it has been colder and rainy, but temperatures are supposed to hover around mid 60's for the next week, so we did make another tee time for next Saturday which more than likely will be the last time golfing this year, at least in Michigan. Popular Post yungkory
Absolutely cursed round today. Couldn't for the life of me string good shots together. Either a poor tee shot and decent second, or absolutely smash one and yank my approach left. Also had a couple of drives that ended up way worse than they should've -- smoke one down the middle and end up with a downhill, ball below feet lie kind of day. Making excuses, as that's what happens sometimes, but today just felt extra rude. Like dunking one from 80y, only for it to rocket to the left into the greenside bunker. Popular Post Tom the Golf Nut
I got a chance to play Sunday morning for possibly one of the last times at my course before the move. The greens were similar to putting on glass. Holy slick stuff Batman! That was so much fun. After I finished playing a hole, I would purposely put the ball in a tough position on the green just to see if I could make the putt or even come close. The round in general went well with one birdie and two bogies for a 72. I saw two people on the course. I'll miss that for sure as well as the views from the course and my house. Since I had the Callaway Epic Max, I ordered her the Epic Speed driver from CPO. We spent some time on the range swapping heads; put the Epic Max on her 40g shaft and I put her Epic Speed on my 50g shaft. We both decided that we'll stick with our originals. David Leighton Reid
On Sunday morning, after 9 holes, it wasn't hard to determine that I didn't have my best stuff. So rather than concentrate on score, I decided to work on my short game. I am a follower of Dave Pelz's Short Game Bible, but I have never been comfortable with the half swing or 7:30 position. Three quarter or 9:00 position shots are my favorite. My setup for chipping short pitches is upright with club, grip pointing above my belly button, heal of the club slightly up, and choked down on the grip. I began experimenting with 1/2 swings in my chipping setup and dialed in approximately 40 yards for my LW, approximately 50 yards with SW, and approximately 60 yards with my GW. These distances fit in perfectly with my 3/4 quarter LW at approximately 60 yards. Prior to figuring this out, it was always a feel shot under 60 yards. So my not so good, full swing ball striking day turned out to be a positive. Popular Post Grand Stranded
I shot one of those 85’s today when nothing really stood out, good or bad. Some pretty good shots, and a few not so good ones mixed in. I’m not posting about my round though, I’m here to talk about the one my friend Dave had while playing in my 4some. He’s an 8 cap who had one of those rounds we all dream about. He rode an incredibly hot putter, and a great iron game to shoot a 3 under par 69! It was super cool to watch, and really exciting when he rolled in a 15 foot birdie putt on 18 to break 70. It was like playing behind a pitcher throwing a no hitter going into the 9th inning. We all knew where he stood on that last tee box, but nobody said a word. We didn’t even want to look at him. When the birdie putt went in, we all went nuts congratulating him. Popular Post GolfSpy_KFT
Tied my low 9 hole round again yesterday evening with another 49. We have been blessed with some fantastic weather in Wisconsin this fall, so my oldest and I have been out a lot (by our standards). After really struggling Saturday, shots were much more consistent yesterday. Good tee shots put me in position to putt for par on nearly every hole, save for an errant tee shot on a par 3 that led to a triple bogey . Highlight of the round was chipping in birdie on 17 (we played the back 9) after hitting my 8 iron longer than I ever have in my life on the approach. Thinned my 56 on 18 after a great drive set me up in the middle of the fairway and had to try and throw a wedge high with short green to work with. Green slopes back to front so while I landed it where I wanted, aerated and firm greens eliminated almost all stopping power and it ran to the bottom of the green. Double bogey there put me at 49, so had a very realistic shot to beat that score with some better shots throughout the round. When it gets quieter, outside of my head sounds hide behind the 6000hz tone that is always present in the inside of my head, there's no such thing in my experience now as "silence" as the best comparison is an amplifier hum. With a sound generator app you can actually hear what it sounds like, when I demonstrated it for my family, I knew I had the right pitch because the app went silent for me matching the inside ringing sound and my family plugged their ears telling me to turn it off. Noise I cannot tune out... Maybe a poor choice of words EP. It is easier for me to concentrate with various sounds/noises around, even my own. When there the surroundings are essentially quiet... any little sound is unexpected and draws my concentration to that. I can't even imagine how difficult it must be to have tinnitus. cksurfdude, EasyPutter and Kenny B 3 Quote Titleist TSR3 9* (A2 setting) Driver - Graphite Design Tour AD UB-5 R1 Titleist TSR2+ 3 Wood - Graphite Design Tour AD UB-5 R1 Srixon ZX 5W Callaway Paradym 4-PW Titleist Vokey SM9 50-08, 54-10 & 58-08 Scotty Cameron Super Select Newport 2.5 2023 Titleist ProV1

Noise I cannot tune out... I've had tinnitus for 35ish years, in my case it's now reduced that I can tune it out . It reappears rarely so I forget about it, but when it started I woke up in my hotel in Saigon and when I moved my head the world spun at a million miles and I was terrified. Didn't speak the local language couldn't move off the bed, a maid knocked to clean the room and I called for help she came in and I couldn't explain what was happening so I tried to get out of bed and fell out lol. She rang reception and they were so helpful, touch wood that will continue... CarlH
Had a pretty crappy round today. Just couldn't seem to get focused on the task at hand. That my 3 other team mates were stinking it up worse than I was didn't help with the focus part. Hit some good shots, hit some bad shots (more than usual and some were really bad). Putting was okay but nothing stellar. Played with one of the Titleist white box balls today. Ball played as expected from a Titleist Pro V1. I played all 18 holes with the same ball and the durability of the ball was good. Only blemishes were dirt/mud. But, I didn't hit any cart paths or other objects that might blemish the ball, either. cksurfdude, EasyPutter, JerryB and 4 others 7 Quote Driver: Rogue ST Max (10.5* set at -1 and neutral) -- Mitsubishi Tensai Blue 55g R shaft Fairway: Rogue ST Max 3 wood (16.5*) and Heaven Wood (20*)-- Tensai Blue 55g R shaft Hybrids: Rogue ST Max 5H (23*)--Tensai Blue 55g R shaft Irons: Apex CF19 6-9, PW, AW -- KBS Tour Graphite TGI 70 shafts R +1/2 inch 3* upright Wedges: Edison 53* and 57* KBS PGI 80 Graphite +1/2 inch 2* upright Putter: L.A.B. GolfSpy_KFT
Well, struggled to a 53 to end my season today. Some penalty strokes proved costly and ball striking was not as consistent as yesterday. On the range everything felt really good but it didn’t translate. Funny because yesterday on the range nothing was going right then I hit the ball well on the course . Already looking forward to spring 2023! rkj427, sirchunksalot, cksurfdude and 5 others 8 Quote Driver: TSi3 9* Fujikura Ventus TR Blue 6X Fairways: Aerojet Max 3W & 7W MCA Kai'Li White 60 Stiff Hybrid: King TEC 3H MCA MMT 85g Stiff Irons: Aerojet 6-GW KBS $-taper Lite Stiff Wedges: Snakebite Black 52/56/60 Hi-Rev 2.0 Black Stiff Putter: Super Select Newport 2.0 Ball: Tour X & ProV1x #LeftyGang Cobra 50th Anniversary Member Special Challenge (link here) Unofficial FootJoy Hyperflex BOA 2023 Review Unofficial Flightscope Mevo Review
