It rained all day yesterday. Today I woke up to sunshine. Headed out the door to play. Didn't realize how cold and windy it was. But I played 9 and called it a day. One bird, 2 bogies and the rest pars. Can't wait for the greens to heal up. Big hole aeration a week and a half ago.

Another positive for the day. I asked the pro where they get their sand from. Because I want to lawn level my potential putting green area. He was excited that I'm going to build a real grass one. He said see those three piles at the upper end of the parking lot. They been there for over two years and was donated. Take all you want. 

Bingo. Free sand with a little hard work. Now I got to run to Lowes and purchase sand bags. Fill up about 20 bags and get to work. Getting excited. Of course its going to rain tomorrow. But at least I can go get the bags.

He also advised against bent grass. He said it would be to hard to maintain. He recommended Champion Bermuda Grass. Now I got to find out if I can get seed.

Played like crap both Sat. and Sun.  Yesterday shot 88 and today shot 86.  The only difference was today my wife beat me by 3 shots.    The only good part of my game today was the maybe 80 feet of putts I made.  Unfortunately, only a few were for par and most for bogey.  I wish it would warm up a little so I can take off at least 3 layers.  Seems like just last fall I shooting in the 70's; now I can barely stay in the 80's.

hahahahaha  Piles of sand around here are gone the next time the wind blows.  The city delivers sand and dumps it in the parking lot.  I don't park anywhere near it; don't want to repaint my car.

... Did you tell her the balls don't have to be white? Controlling the distance you hit that little white ball is pretty cool. Even cooler is hitting it the right distance and direction. Controlling the distance, direction and trajectory is way cooler. Controlling the distance, direction, trajectory and spin is beyond cool. Controlling the distance, direction, trajectory, spin and curving the ball in either direction on command requires juuuuuust a little more skill than hitting a white ball then going to find it.

Add: Come to think, after hole 14 I was the only one out there, I could've been barefoot with how attuned to nature, fed up with my score, and wet my socks were. 

I had great conversation with deer, a gopher, a lone goose and the pack I imagine kicked him out for being a weirdo. Also a tree that I threatened to contaminate with termites on my next trip and another friendly tree I canopied off to hit a cart path then fairway.

I should have put that in the psycho analysis from yesterday I guess.

▪︎I want a 5i now. I'm hitting my 6i better and want to see if I can smoothly gap 5i-AW.

▪︎3 putt No Matter What. Multiple times I obsessed over some putts hitting the same miss 3 times in a row and not following through from 3-5 ft. 

▪︎The ^ point leads to: Luck Adjustment Handicap Index. This is a real thing. Today mine was set at "+cursed"  

Notes under hole #4 read 3H left p.h., bad SW, good SW, bad lag, g.g. D.H.

▪︎Pace was 4 hours + all my fault. I was the worst of 4 golfers on the course. 7s take longer than 3s and 4s, as it turns out.

▪︎Pace was not helped by the 100 notes I scribbled around the scorecard. Neither was scoring, I'm confident to say.

▪︎4 ! Putted. #18 for my 2nd 7. I found out later the 2 ft putt I pushed was for 99. I was lagging from 60ft. In the dark, in my defense.

 

I could never do this and play golf the way I want to play golf.

Well I played yesterday with My Grandson @Blakedagolfer, It was cool and Damp here in Western Wa.. Started out Terrible. Tee shot on 1 was topped and went 30ft. Screw it I reloaded on the tee and blasted one into the brush on the right, Lost ball.. I finished hole 1 with a nice easy 9.. OMG it's gonna be a long day.. lol.. Parred 2 and 3, damned near drove the green on 3.. Had some struggles, but put together 4-5 pars.. Shot a nice easy 100.. knee started getting uncomfortable, on about 12.. Not bad for just over a month out from Knee surgery. 12 is about where it started raining. so now it is cold and wet.. All in all a good day with the grandson. but not how I wanted to play.. I just could not shift the weight to the left knee, YET. it will; come hopefully soon so I can trust the knee will hold up..

Went and played with my new irons on Saturday in the 40* drizzle/rain/wind(excuse me- in Kansas, that's a breeze). I was also trying to figure out just how different the Xs were vs the LS. The irons were remarkable- the operator- not so much all the time. I had few of those shots that ensure you're gonna come back, and few that made me  mutter WT......... are you doing. I had a 140 approach shot that I stuck inside the grip. It's gonna take a while, and better weather, to get these irons dialed in. It was a really good day to get the feel of the irons and figure out what I can/can't get away with, with them. Hopefully that'll improve really soon.  FWIW- the Xs seem to work better for me with these irons(in those conditions)- but I'll have to give them a try in more appropriate temperatures/conditions. I didn't have any triples, but there were a couple doubles, a few bogies some pars and a birdie. The great thing about playing in that weather is that there were only about 5 people on the entire course- so it was peaceful and quiet- no-one rushing me and no traffic jam in front. AND- I was out on the course.
