It's a "never-ending" story.  There are days when I don't hit the ball very well and scores will be high; there are days when I don't hit the ball very well, but I can scramble around with a bunch of par saves for a decent round; and there are days when I hit the ball decently and putting is great and I will shoot my age.  I had several days like the latter last fall, and I was wondering if I was going to see them again.  No worries!!

I'm pretty familiar with that shot. I do like the pants, I want to get something either loud like those or some knickers in the future.

Check out Hreaski.com. They’re a lot more affordable, and made of better material than Loudmouth. They make nice shirts and shorts also.

Two things… try to get the ones with the stretch waistband, as they run a little small, and keep an eye out for their sales.  ( even at full price they’re cheaper than most out there.)

Went out @ 7:30 trying to beat the rain, it was more of a getterdone B4 we get soaked.  There were 2 interesting items. The undisputed best golfer in the Boyz found himself in the same “concrete” trap I was in last week…..well same results as me, no way lucky he didn’t break his wrist.  Second we have a retired Doctor who is an expert in everything just ask him.  I’m not with him often maybe twice a year because he drives me nuts, not only on his Superior intelligence that he is very willing to share but he does not fill his divots or repair his ball marks on the green.  Well I fixed his ball marks on the greens because he hits low screamers into the green and on one hole he said something about me being to detailed about repairing marks, well among my many unrepeatable remarks were as a Doctor if anyone should be detailed it should be him.  He’s not used to anyone giving him s&&t so not talking to me.  Poor me😂

Give ‘em hell Rick!

Yup, I have to have a little fun once in a while.  Guy’s complaining about conditions and not filling divots or repairing ball marks irritate me.

Yeah my pet hate is not repairing divots and in Sydney you must carry a bucket of dirt as well, you can get banned if caught not repairing divots but here in NZ they don’t care 🤷

My event hot streak continued today in our Tuesday Members league. The temps never got above 45*(wtf?) and 20 mph winds, but I got through it, shot 83 with 3 doubles. That was good enough for low net in our A flight. The last 3 weeks I’ve finished 1st, 1st and 2nd.
I finally feel like things are getting back to where I want them to be with my game after a horrible 5-6 month stretch of golf last year. The big difference has all been from 100 yards and in, as my wedge game has mysteriously returned from wherever the heck it went to.

It’s amazing how having a little confidence in my short game has freed up my swing with my other clubs, and although my putting has never been my problem, I’m now giving myself much better, shorter looks at the hole and two putting for pars instead of bogeys.

Congratulations!!  Yeah, you were a chocolate mess last year, If I recall.  Good job turning it around!!

Two days, identical scores.  Just 44/43 this time around at Encino.  Not bad considering that I'm not sure they should have let anyone out on the course today with how wet it was.  Even walking, it was tough not to do damage in a lot of areas -- and that's with roped off areas with 'new' water hazards.   You had to know your carry numbers because there was zero rollout on the fairway and only minimal release on the greens.  Contact was not quite as good as yesterday but two days in a row without chunking one is a big win for me this year.  It could have been much, much better if I'd put on my big boy pants, realized the greens were criminally slow, and stopped leaving everything short.  I had the line, but I never had the speed today.  Same deal as yesterday I didn't let myself attack the hole from beyond 190.  It resulted in a lot of good up and down opportunities, but there were several instances where I felt like I should have made the shot.  The right way is definitely somewhere in the middle of bombs away and this.  Next time out I'll let myself pull the long club when I feel confident about it.

I love to see the youngsters out hitting a golf ball, it says alot about all the Dad's. Magic if they enjoy it too, need all the Junior golfers we can get. If I can help a Junior at my club I do...

Starting to find my game or maybe just getting used to the new course. Still coming up a little short but I’m working on it. Chipping was very good leaving me with very reasonable putts. I was able to make two birdies, two bogies, and the rest were pars. It was nice to shoot even par. First solid round of the year.

Got to shoot the breeze with the golf pro after my round and showed him pictures of the progress on the golf green. He offered up top dressing whenever I need it and also said they just got a new cup setting tool and said I can one of the old ones. Boy this keeps getting better. He said he was also a licensed chemical sprayer and would come over and spray whatever product my green needs. Such nice people in my new area.

Sounds like you've gotten into your groove, good round! I can imagine the lower altitude is affecting your yardages just a smidge.

It's cold that your pro offered you a cup setting tool, it's nice to hear you've got some good people in your new area.

Not a good day today.  The weather turned; cloudy, breezy and temps about 10º colder than yesterday.  My hands never really got warm.  Shot 41/39 for a difficult 80.  Spent the day scrambling around the course saving some pars and… not!  It didn’t help that the round took 4 hours and 20 minutes; our foursome waiting on nearly every shot.

Want spring to get here with warm temps soon!!!

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
