Nice - I'd like to play that course! Passed it once when my wife and I were driving up to Rheinbeck .. great location and looks like a fun layout.

I would say to make it worth it just wait until the updates on it are done but it is a very fun course, challenging at some points but fair. They have two 200yd par 3's, makes you appreciate the pros sticking the green on them so much more, lol.

Also, Rhinebeck is such a great area, me and my wife live up that way just a little east of it.

Today I played a course I've not played in a while.  Driver behaved itself, and I was happy with the results.  My mid irons, not so much! 🤣.   Anyway a very nice day with clear blue skies, and no wind.  It was a complete joy to be there today.

Strange round today, shot mid 80s felt I hit the ball better. Some trees decided I had no luck and hard landing spots sealed the deal on a few double bogeys. Also had a good amount of pars and net pars but no birdies. Putting didn't cost strokes I actually made from 6' and 12' and tapped in 2 others, lagged everything else for 2 on aerated greens. I wrote off putting going in with the holes all over the green, but I won plinko a couple times today.

Tomorrow I'm playing a 9 hole "learning center" course bringing a short list of the clubs with the best notes/grades from my past month.

Driver @12° 3w @16.5° 5i 24° 6i 26.5° 6i 27° 7i 31° 9i 38.5° PW 43° Vokey 52° Jaws FT 56°

and getting its 1st on-course look is my new circa 1960ish Hogan Sovereign Putter. The Sik DW had average grades this semester and doesn't go on the field trip to the Learning Center.

From the iron sets I've been using, Apex '19 (6i, PW) sub70 699 (6,7,9i) plus 699u 5i. Evidence sub70 has won the performance aspect of the tryout. I will likely hit extra balls from every 6i distance and use both irons a bunch to compare further.

Some 7.5° and a 9° loft gap will make me hit some shots with delicate touch or I will be in trouble.

Finding a way to turn birdies into bogeys since 1992. #TeamChunks

Got out last night for the weekly after work 9 hole twilight stroll and it went great! Last week I felt like I was truly hitting every club in the bag well, and was +6 through 14 holes until it got too dark. This week we only made it through 9 thanks to someone in the group ahead doing their best Cantlay impression. Birdied the Par 5 number 1 hole, and managed to stay at 1 under though 5 and then came the dreaded double bogey on number 6. Had a putt for par after a drop and was so intent on keeping my round together I smacked it 8 feet past the hole. Three putt and out, yuck. Finished at +3 38 for the 9 holes and I was very happy. Best thing for me is a total of 17 putts, and only the one 3 putt. I even was able to hole out some 5-10 footers for par saves.

Going to try to get out for 18 this weekend and I'm sure it'll just keep on going great...til it doesnt,

Surprising how moving to different tees change the way a hole is played as well. Shorter != easier, and longer != harder.

Before I moved up to the "senior" tees last year, I played from the senior tees about a dozen times the year before.  I shot the same scores as I did from the Blue tees.  After a year from the senior tees, I'm about 6 shots lower on average.  It took awhile to get used to playing holes when they are shorter/

Got out for my weekly early morning 9-holes. Still trying to get into a groove with my swing after the winter. I wasn't able to practice or hit the simulator at all this year and it shows. Driver/3W was basically non existent and really put me into a lot of trouble all but 2 recovery shots went well and kept me alive. Surprisingly my putter was decent and avoided any 3 putts (16 total putts). I've been walking as much as I can as its been very therapeutic when your one of maybe 3 or 4 golfers on the course but I need to start wearing my knee brace and taping up with KT tape again. MCL is still loose from an old injury.

Need some range time to really work on my driver swing and get it back to where is was last year and work on my distance control on the bottom end of my bag. I keep telling myself it's still early. That excuse won't work in a few short weeks.

Played a quick 9 on the exec this morning.  +4 with some more experimenting with new additions to the bag -- heavy use of the new 55 degree wedge (even when it wasn't appropriate).  The big surprise is how much I like the second hand Yes Callie.   I put a Lamkin Skinny pistol on it and man it rolls putts well.  Good speed control (maybe a wee bit hotter off the face than I'm used to) and easy to keep on line.    I'm mulling putting it in play on Monday....  Never would have guessed that when I bought the Bettinardi that it might get knocked out of the bag by a 15 year old second hand blade that cost 90% less.  SMH  Golf...🙃

In fairness, the Callie, when it was brand new, was much more equivalent in price to the Innovai.

Owen and I got out to Buena Vista today to play eight.  They were working on fixing irrigation on hole one, so we had to skip it.  Other than the adventure of hole three (see the Shot/Hole of the Day thread) I played pretty well with six bogies and a par.  Finished with a (+10) 38 in cool breezy conditions.  Once again, Owen beat me.  My early season dominance is but a distant memory.

Snuck out during work hours today as it was perfect weather and just couldn't pass up the opportunity. Played 18 and shot a tie for personal best score with 77!! But this is the first time doing it on a par 72 so a lifetime best +5 for 18 holes. I'm absolutely pumped about this, had a great round today that included 5 birdies! A chip in from just off the green on a par 3. Sunk a 15 footer on a par 4 and another where I put it to a foot and a half from about 90 yards out. the birdies on the par 5s were less cool but was able to be on in 2 on some not super lengthy holes and 2 putted and got out of there.

After shooting an even par 36 on the front I kind of took a breath and relaxed a bit, I do play 9 holes a lot so I sometimes struggle with keeping focus after making the turn. Ended up double bogey on 11, bogeys again on 12 and 13 and then another double on an easy par 3 14. I honestly thought my chances at a good round was over at that point, said to myself to just take the win on a great start but it always catches back up if you play long enough. But honestly the best part of today was being able to get locked back in again, and ended having 2 of the 5 birds come in late round on 15 and 17.

31 putts on the day which is always the determining factor on if I am going to have a great round or not. I'm trying to keep the putter hot and make some mental notes of what I am doing right when its hot.

Hope you all can get out this weekend!

Not my best … 89 at a private club in Charleston through a good buddy of mine who has a friend that’s a member, Coosaw Creek. And the weather was fantastic.

Driver off the tee was singing for the better part of the day, iron game was stronger than it has been, but my wedge game just completely failed me. 😩 Case in point, hit a great drive on a par 4 that left me 77yds to the pin … proceeded to flub my 2nd shot, flubbed it again to just off the green, misjudged the speed of the putt to blow past the hole, 2-putt for 6. 😂

Aye aye ayeee this game! I did pure an 8i into a stiff head wind at a 144yd par 3 … proceeded to 3-putt for bogey. 🤦🏻‍♂️

But all in all, I’m happy with my round and the progress I’m making with my driver distance wise off the tee (2 OB balls) and my iron misses being much narrower. The misses I did have with the irons today were simply not enough club.

And lastly, it’s the weekend!!! Light them courses up, Spies! 🙌🏼

Played well at Galloping Hill Learning Center par 33. Brought only Dr-3w-5-7-9i 3 wedges and putter, so 9 clubs. Was +3 through 7 holes when I pulled my driver left OB. Managed double bogey with the penalty. Then left my tee shot short on #9, skulled a 52° and eventually missed a 4 ft bogey putt. Turns out that putt was to break 40.

After that 9, I looked up golf now tee times and found Plainfield West Nine was about 25 minutes away so I played another 9 holes, this time with a full set configuration. +10 on this 9 holes which I thought was easier but not in as good condition. Wind also picked up for the second 9.

Still, weird I scored better taking 5 clubs away from myself and forcing myself to play with some 7-9° loft gaps on the first 9.

Another great round ruined in the home stretch today. Went 42/41/83 gross (42/40/82 net). I didn't feel like I was hitting the ball quite as good I was last week and the putter certainly wasn't as hot, but I was cruising along just fine even with 2 penalties on holes 4 (OB) & 5 (unplayable). I really started to heat up on the back nine and was even par through 7 holes, but apparently I'm struggling with the shorter shaft length of these TM wedges and bladed my 58* straight over the green and OB for the second time this round to earn myself a triple bogey and then a double on 18 after a misplaced drive and poor approach effort.

I had at least 3 full(ish) 58* wedges and caught every one of them thin sending it well beyond the green. I either need to spend some time working on staying down and through with the shorter length or put an extension in...

On the bright side, I absolutely lit up the driver today - especially late into the round. I had four drives over 300 with the longest at 338 🤯!!! I only managed 6 fairways but when I was off it wasn't by much and a few of those missed fairways were simply because I hit it through which was kind of crazy.

Approach play was so-so and managed 8 greens, but the bladed wedges certainly didn't help. Short game and putting were solid with strokes gained of -0.82 and -0.15 compared to a 5-handicap on Shot Scope. I'm really hoping for a continuation of this trend and to start seeing scores dip below 80. There was so much meat on the bone today between penalties, bad wedges, and a 3-putt. Not too bad for someone still recovering from a car accident on the 10th.

Played hooky from work today to play a round with my buddy on his birthday.

Shot +1 on the front to my surprise, since I'm not practicing, and only get to play once a month now. Then shot a +9 on the back, LOL!

Don't think I have the muscle endurance now that I'm not playing consistently, might've gotten tired or my swing lazy on the back, who knows.

Put my ER5 in the bag today because the last couple of rounds my distance control has been absolute garbo. My excuse is that the DF face is so soft but in reality I just suck now. ER5 felt really good. Made some solid putts and it was nice to look down at something different than the usual.

I have covers on all the clubs, but the rest of them get left in the trunk 99% of the time. The Spy cover 😍 only comes off to use the putter.

Bunker Hill GC in Princeton was a fun course. Lots of slope, lots of blind shots. Shot 84 on par 72, but lost 7 of those strokes on 3 bad holes. Felt like I hit the ball very well all day. A 4 hole stretch where I lost focus with a slow pace was sandwiched between 8 holes at +5 and 6 holes at +1.

Used the new XR driver and hit it very well. Maybe better than my TS2. Going to get some more time in with both, for sure.

Second nine for the VCT entry today. Hit a 56. 3 penalties (two on the same holes as Tuesday, both due to shanks with irons). Was thrown off to start my round as I got there 30 mins prior to hit some balls. The pro shop opener was 40 mins late due to a traffic accident so my warm up was ten orange whip swings.

Struggling with heel strikes and low point control with my irons. I believe because I am shallowing more and that brings my low point back (again still focusing on shift work). Hoping things come together in the next month.

putter was ok. Was leaving a lot short. The bumpy greens are also messing with me.

Played 18 at Majestic Springs yesterday afternoon. Breaking 80 came down to a 12’ putt on 18 (right speed, wrong line)and I tapped in for 80. Overall, I am encouraged. I hit the driver fairly well, including a 320 yd drive off the first tee that wound up pin high, off the green to the right. Also, my putting was steady and the work I have been putting in to get used to the mallet I added to the bag this winter, feels like it is starting to pay off. My misses were line related rather than distance control and that is a good feeling.

Beautiful day in the 70s for todays round.   Was CPO due to overnight rains and that made play extra slow; total round time 5:15.

I was looking forward to todays round since I have been working on my putting  over the past few days and hoping to improve on my recent trend of multiple 3 putt rounds.   I have also been working on short game so hoping that improves as well.

Solid front nine with 1 birdie and 2 bogies.   First bogey was a little unlucky...greenside bunker shot hit the pin on the fly and the ball bounced off and rolled off the green but I was able to get up and down from their for the bogey.  Solid front 9 with a 1 over 37.

Unfortunately for me,  the pollen count was pretty high and by the back I was extremely congested which I am guessing impacted my focus.

Had a little blowup on the back with 2 doubles and 3 bogeys.  Chunked pitch let to first double.  Bladed wedge that flew the green and gave me an unplayable lie led to the second.

Putting was solid with no 3 putts and pretty good distance control.  Also went back to pacing off putts to help dial in the distance feel.

Overall pretty happy with the round especially the front 9.  This is indicative of how I know I can play.

7 FW, 10 GIR, 33 putts    37/43: 80

Been playing like absolute garbage lately. Had a swing flaw that made me default to to crap week right miss. Slapped it around for a 75 yesterday and today it clicked. Started just striping it after about 8 holes today and lit it up for a 3 under on the back. Need to make and iron change this week to a set a little more forgiving than a jaded ex wife and all should be good. On a funny note I learned how to putt a that is scary. Frankenstein is not leaving the bag anytime soon so no good new putter posts unfortunately.

4/14 FIR, 7/18 GIR

36 putts (3x 1 putts, 3x 3 putts)

I was essentially net zero strokes gained for driving and approach, but lost strokes in short game and especially putting.

Didn't take any penalty strokes which is going to be a big focus for me this year, and had a number of great approach shots. Just couldn't get putts to drop, but had some really good looks. Still kicking the rust off, especially the speed control. I'm hitting my lines so things should hopefully come back pretty soon.

Had my first lesson on Friday, in which we worked on my biggest weakness which was chipping, so I was eager to get out on the course this weekend. The rain on Saturday had other ideas for my weekend however. I was able to get out and walk the back nine yesterday. The weather was perfect, 70° and just a couple of clouds. Overall I played ok, one big blow up hole on a par 5 where i ended up slicing a bit and it caught a tree on the bend and shot back towards the front of the fairway, and then preceded to duff or mishit every shot all the way to about 40 yards from the green, where I chipped up and 2 putted for a quad. Putting was a big strength though, 14 putts through 9 and no 3 putts. Everything either went in or ended up within 2 ft of the hole for a nice tap in. Working my way towards my goal of breaking 90 this summer.

Double, bogey, par, bogey, bogey, quad, double, par, double. 49
