Bucky CC
First two-day major of the year for us. 50% of your handicap broken out into way too many flights (7 flights for 52 guys). Ended up shooting 77-76 gross, which turned into 75-74 net and one shot out of a playoff for first. First day was a constant scramble to save par on each hole. Second day was fantastic except for a 4 hole stretch where my driver went completely off the rails. Oh well, it was a good time out there. Popular Post Prodigal Duffer
Played nine holes with my son today. Beautiful weather, mid 70s, moderate breeze out of the north. We got paired with two guys, one of whom happened to build my pool. Great dudes, good playing partners. I’ve felt like I’m close to getting things figured out. Today, it came together— shot a 38. Huge caveat - I played from the front tees with my son, so yardage was only 2500. Missed an eagle by a quarter rotation of the ball. One lost ball penalty and a bozo chip shot (same hole) cost me the even par. Still, I’m pretty stoked. I played a new-to-me course this afternoon and shot a 40/37 = 77 (+6). Not that it really matters, they had everyone going off the back today, so the front was actually the better 9. MILESTONE ALERT - first time I've broken 80 ( @GolfSpy_APH, can I get that Broke 80 badge please?). I've had a few 80's and 81's. I putted out of my mind on the second 9. I had 12 putts even with a 3-putt on the last hole. A chip in par helped and five 8-10 footers made for pars. I also made ~25 footer for birdie. Driver was mostly steady all day long. A couple bad swings but the holes I did it on were not terribly penal to do that. Our area is in dire need of some rain and many of the mid-tier munis are really dry - mid-August bounces and rolls. It is really good for the ego, though, especially when I am hitting driver well. I had 4 drives that were in the 284 - 296 range. Most importantly, the last hole was great. I stood there knowing I could have a bit of a blow-up and still break 80, but there were still some nerves - my big miss is right and there was OB right. Focused on positive thoughts and piped it 285 up the hill to the right center of the fairway. Tale of the tape, according to Arccos. Way to go Max!!! richk9holes
Played 9 holes at Clearbrook GC Par 35. Happy with the 41 I shot, finished bogey-double on 8-9 so could have been much better. Round started with excellent ball striking +3 through 7 holes (-3 net), my contact drifted to the toe and I played the final 2 holes down the right side. Coming in I said I wanted to avoid 3 putts 15 putts made a 4' and a 15' from off the green to go with mostly adequate lags. And avoid any score worse than 6 Double on #9 was a 5 with a mucked SW. 6 on #3 was on the 450y handicap 1 par 5 hole. Birdied #4 260y par 4 driver-PW and the above mentioned putt from the fringe. Also shot a personal best from the white tees on this 9 hole. Makes sense since previous 43 and 44 scores were accompanied by not checking one of the 2 objectives above. The pin was in front which is very difficult to get to; can't see the putting surface, but I know the green slopes away from the front to the middle, then slopes uphill to the back of the green. Greens are very firm and if the ball lands on the green it releases to the back which leaves a downhill then uphill putt. Landing short of the green doesn't guarantee a release onto the green. I tried to get cute with my PW and chunked it, but the bladed SW really frosted me. I can't remember the last time I bladed my SW. Should have just fired to the middle of the green and take a 20 footer back up the slope. richk9holes, MaxEntropy, BKervin and 3 others 5 1 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

richk9holes
I find for me I will unlock something with my driver swing that feels good, but then I'll start to incorporate that into short iron shots and vice versa. A huge part of it is the "present in the moment" concept in the sense of understanding the athletic task at hand and unlocking the muscle memory for that specific task, with a touch of intuition and a sprinkle of luck. It's a simple recipe. It just ain't easy to cook up. cksurfdude, MaxEntropy, Kenny B and 1 other 4 Quote Finding a way to turn birdies into bogeys since 1992. #TeamChunks '23 Forum Tester: Elixir Golf Ball WITB:TS2 10.5° @ 11.25° Tensei blue AV 55 R graph•917f2 15° @ 16.5° Diamana blue x5ct dialed 70 R graph•Stealth 22° Ventus red 6 (non-velo) R graph• 699u 2i 17° tgi 70 R graph•24° Tour v 90 black pvd R steel•699 6i-PW Tour 110 black pvd R steel• SM8 50°/08° @ 52°/10° SM8 stock steel• Jaws Full Toe 56°/12° DG Spinner TI steel • c series DW 2.0 slant neck stock steel•Phantom 2 gps•Tour v3 rangefinder•Elixir golf ball•

Popular Post Josh Ross
Played at Twin Bridges Golf Club in Gadsden, Alabama yesterday with my nephew to cross another state off his list in our new journey to play in all 50 states. Had an absolute blast and he played some of his most consistent golf yet. I played decently and can't say enough about the course. The staff was exceptional and the course was fun. Pictured is the signature hole, a 180 yard par 3 that was down hill and over water. Hit a 9 iron pin high to about 8 feet but lipped the birdie putt out. rkj427
Played Stony Creek Metropark Golf Course and was paired up with a couple of men, who also worked in the auto industry. They knew a friend of mine who used to work with me but recently retired, and one was a neighbor of another friend of mine from our car club. Overall a very enjoyable day, picture perfect weather, a little breezy, and it was great to make a couple new friends. Course was in good shape, although the speed of the greens on the back 9 were much slower than usual, and quite a big difference from the green speed on the front 9. Longest drive was "wind aided" and on a par 5 that I hit a 4 iron from 199 yards over the back of the green in 2. Shapotomous
I went out for 9 last night to see if i had enough game to play in the league this week after sitting out last week. I was 6 over after 7 holes before deciding i was not doing my back any good. I think another week or two on the DL and having a sub that can play to their handicap is best for the team. sirchunksalot, rkj427, Kenny B and 6 others 8 1 Quote Modern Bag: G410 LST 10.5*, Hzrdus Smoke RDX 6.5 Flex; 915F 3w, Diamana S+ 70 S flex; Snake Eyes 18* 2h, 23* 4h & 27* 5h; JPX 900 Forged 6 - PW, PX LZ 6.0; Edison 2.0 49*, 53*, 57* KBS Tour 120 S; Heppler Fetch; Ball - MTB-X; Bag - Jones MyGolfSpy Edition! Popular Post GolfSpy_SHARK
Well my play was pretty poor overall. Had a good stretch 11-16 but early on was overgripping for sure to compensate for the wet conditions. Stupid me forgot the umbrella for the one rainy round I will get out for lol. The good? Played with my son for his first 18 hole round Got out with @GolfSpy BOS and Jackson Got to swing those sweet Edel's My good holes Bryan was able to capture some good photos of my swing right now....and its good....when its good. Popular Post Jim Shaw
IMG_3564.MOV The Mission Amateur is in the books, congratulations to Mitch Lock who won in a playoff. I missed the playoff by 2 strokes and ended up tied for 3rd. Attached is a video of my making a 12 foot putt to save par and remain 1 stroke back at the time. I pushed my 2 iron hybrid ( the hole was 225 yds long) into the trees on the right (short side) needed to go under a tree over some rough and made a great shot to 12 feet, made the putt... very very excited as you can see lol rkj427, Shapotomous, sirchunksalot and 8 others 11 Quote committed to performance excellence
invee123
Over the last 2 weekends I played at Beaver Creek CC a few times because half of the course is still closed to bunker renovations. They've only got 9 holes open so I was able to get a few laps around those. Never ended up keeping score because I was just playing for fun with my family but I have noticed 2 things about my game right now. 1) I've got a pretty good streak of ball striking going on right now. I can't seem to hit the ball poorly. 2) With that superb ball striking, I can't aim to save my life. I may end up taking alignment sticks out on the course if it's empty enough to get some good alignment practice in.
