Popular Post RollingGreens 2,213
Got out on Thursday for what is likely the last round of the year. High 50s with wind near 30mph. It was a good 9. Got the driver back in tune and the irons never lost a beat. Couldn’t really test out putting or wedges because we are playing with temporary pins. Don’t really blame them for golf in northeast Ohio to have the temporaries already out. Shot even par for the 9 which is good. Only lost one ball with the course being wet and leaves still in the rough. 11 Quote G425 LST 10.5 Aldilla Rogue White 70s TS3 15.5 3W Fuji Speeder Tour Spec 818 H1 19deg Hybrid Fuji Atmos White JPX 921 Hot Metal 4-PW Nippon Modus 120s SM8 50,54, and 58deg Dynamic Gold Wedge Flex Spider Tour Putter Vice Pro Plus White or Titleist ProV1x Hoofer Stand Bag V8 3 Wheel Push Cart 300 PRO Rangefinder Official Nippon Regio B+ Driver Shaft Review

Was a little damp and misting rain first couple holes but around 70* so not that bad. Only got 16 in due to a cutoff time with family and the two groups in front of us being so slow, but played pretty well, was +11. Given the conditions and how tough the course is usually, I was happy with that. Finished it off with a 30 footer for birdie from off the green, so that’ll keep me coming back! You are making it sound not as impressive on your 30+ birdie. I’d say it was 50-60+ footer off the green up and over a hill left to right break with perfect speed falling into the hole. Popular Post Peaksy68 4,978
First round for a couple of weeks due to work and back problems. 20 mph winds from an unusual direction made for an interesting round. Ugly start, first tee shot sailed over the left fence. Followed up by an ugly double and a 3 putt bogey. Not the start I was looking for but thankfully things improved. Played some solid golf with another 3 putt bogey the only blemish in the next 8 holes. Leaked a couple more shots over the last 6 holes but a nice birdie to finish kept me happy. Highlights were a couple of really well struck 3 woods and the best drive I've ever hit on the first hole (playing as 8th on the day due to rebuilding of clubhouse. Perfect line it carried far enough to get catch the downslope. 325 yards left me 70 to the pin and for a change hit a solid shot after a big drive. Finished 3 worse than my handicap (Par format helped, strokeplay would have been much worse) Pretty happy after being 3 down after 3 11 Quote 849 Pro Evenflow Riptide 6.0 F8 3 & 5 Woods Project X Evenflow Blue 6.0 TS2 7 Wood Project X Evenflow Blue 6.0 MP18 MMC - Project X LZ 5.5 Zipcore Wedges 50,54,58 - Project X LZ 5.5 MLA Tour Mallet 33" Z Star Pioneer bag buggy

Popular Post revkev 25,214
Finally got to play yesterday for the first time in a month. Quit after 14 holes because pace of play had slowed and back was a bit sore - plus I wanted to watch the Packers game with my daughter. I was very rusty - don’t know what I shot because we weren’t keeping score - my goal was to hit the ball solidly as I was really struggling with squirrely shots. Complete success in that regard - thinned my first iron a bit - other than that was in the ball park of the club face the rest of the day and was very consistent with my shot shape and ball flight - alignment and short game not so much but that’s easier to fix than chunks, skulls and heels. Looking forward to getting out a few times next week. 13 1 Quote Taylor Made Stealth 10.5 Aldila Ascent Red R flex Ping G410 5, 7, 9 wood Alta 65 R flex Wilson D7 forged 5-GW - Mamiya recoil 460 R flex Edison Wedges 54 and 59 KBS Tour Graphite 80's EVNRoll ER 5 Titleist Pro VIx optic yellow with revkev stamped on them Still on that elusive hunt for a 3 wood that I'm able to hit - I don't know why, I crush the 5 wood and it's really a 4 wood anyway. Popular Post cjeffs12 814
I am very fortunate to be in the south where I can still be playing, but it was very wet and cold(for a Texan). I am using these periods of not posting a score, but of ball striking. I have been hitting more greens, and my swing is really starting to produce good shots. I am not the best at calculating distance in the cold, so some come up well short or fly the green. My short game was killer yesterday, several tap ins, and one hit the pin. I am really looking forward to next season, and getting my goals written down. 10 Quote SIM 2 9* FUJIKURA Ventus Blue w/ Velocore 6-X Sim Max 15* Aldila Rogue Silver 70 X-Stiff TS3 18* Hzrdus Smoke Black 70 6.5 ZX Utility 3 20* Nippon GOST S ZX7 4-PW Project X 6.0 Milled Grind 3 54.11 Dynamic Gold TI S200 T20 58 08 Dynamic Gold TI S400 M Craft OMOI 02 34” — PRO V1x 3.5+ Push Cart NX9 with Slope
Popular Post vandyland 409
Just an unbelievable lightning in a bottle round which (OF COURSE) was only 9 holes since I have young children. But truly a wild ride and, apologies in advance, I am pretty amped about it. I should be clear that I made everything I looked at but overall most everything was clicking. Also, I started using "myRound Pro" app from Taylormade and once I got used to inputting everything I found it to be quite useful. Will do an unofficial review. Anyway, excuse my gloating -- I will be sure to come back and post a s**t round when I have one to balance all this optimism out. I am pretty sure the strokes gained are calculated for 18 holes so I think I cut all these in 1/2. But still, the putting tells the story. I have been gaming my old Seemore for the last few weeks and things have been getting better and better. Also, I roll putts with my Blast golf sensor 4-5 nights a week for about 100 putts each time so it is all clicking. Anyway, look at this rollercoaster score card: I caught fire on #3 which is the hardest hole on the golf course (445 yd par 4). And, honestly, I wasn't really aware of where I was scorewise until I birdied 7 and I was like "well...I think I am getting uncomfortable now..." To birdie 8 and then steer it home on 9 knowing I was cruising under par was a great feeling. All my birdie putts made were between 6-15 feet. The bogey I made on #6 was a great save as well. I hit a drive that was right on the rough line for a really squirrely lie. Hit what I thought was a perfect shot that flew on me and plugged in the back of a bunker. Had to gouge it out to 50 ft and 2 putt from there. Once I did that I felt like the rest of the round was easy. It won't always be this good (or ever again?) so I want to really enjoy this feeling. I have been practicing my short game furiously and this was the culmination of that preparation and practice. Thanks for indulging me!

Popular Post Tom D. 577
Played a par 3 short course 9 early this morning, before I had to pick up my daughter from the airport. We are supposed to get rain the rest of the week, so this was my opportunity as I'm off today. It was rather brisk (39*), but as you can see from the pic, the sun was out and the breeze was very light (made REALLY good use of my electric hand warmer). Missed a couple greens, but managed to chip those close and one putt. Didn't ever get a birdie putt to drop, as I think I had four a foot or less and another three under 2 feet, so even par on the day. 12 Quote I'm decidedly brand agnostic -- but a bit less so with my recent change from a PING driver - TSi2 10.5 Driver - Tensei AV Raw Blue 55 R - TS2 4W - Graphite Design Tour AD DI 6 RS & TS2 7W - Alta CB 65 R - Baffler 23* - Aldila NV-HL 65 R - Original Series 0211 - 5-PW - MMT 80 S - CBX2 50 / 54 / 58 - Rotex - Directed Force 2.1 (Nickel) - KBS Tour - Press No. II 3* - MTB Black - DG Lite II cart bag attached via Top-Lok to - Quad XL and Tracked by - V3
Popular Post fixyurdivot 16,691
Played Desert Hills today and put a Vice Pro Plus against the #1 ball in golf. VPP 46/42, PV1 43/40. Started off the round a little shaky but settled in a few holes into the round and hit pretty well. Big Red held its own off the tee but did seem a few yards shorter overall. I had two sets of drives on a couple of holes that were near mirror images and provided some nice comparative data. Not much difference in approach shots, or holding greens, and both felt very similar off the putter. I must say, the red color is easy to see. Hole #14. My line off the tee is over the tall palm and catch the hard rough and kick back into the fairway. I have a couple balls in that palm... I know where they are, so technically not lost . Those things are catcher mitts. 11 Quote G410 Plus, 9 Degree Driver G400 SFT, 16 Degree 3w G400 SFT, 19 Degree 5w ZX5 Irons 4-AW Glide 2.0 56 Degree SW (removed from double secret probation ) ER5v Putter (Evnroll ER5v Official Review)
Kenny B 32,557
We has a little snow on the ground the last couple of days, but it melted off today and the course opened. My wife and I went to walk 9 holes after the frost delay. We were paired with two great guys in a covered cart with a heater. No real warmup and we played from the senior White tees. I was +3 after 3 holes, but after I missed a par putt on #5, I parred 6, 7, 8, 9 and the extra holes 10 and 11... so +4 over 11 holes. If we played further, we would be committed to finish 18, and I wasn't sure if we could finish before dark. Driver worked well today except for a skank on #2. Putting was better than usual for not practicing before teeing off. Made several nice par saves. 9 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
Popular Post Tom the Golf Nut 7,801
There was a small isolated tornado today. So small it was confined to the inside of my house. I got up this morning went down to make some breakfast, looked at the weather on my phone and the weather was going to be sunny and in the 50's. I ran back upstairs, showered, dressed for golf. Ran down two flights of stairs to get to the basement to get my clubs. Grabbed a drink to take on the course. Ran out to the car and took off. I think the curtains in the living room were still moving as I drove down the driveway. Three weeks of rainy weekends can make a golfer do some strange things. Never even said good bye to the family as I breezed by. On to the important stuff. No warm up, right to the first tee. Played decent. All drives were in the fairway. A few approaches were short but not very short. Maybe a yard off the green at most. One was in a bunker but made a good bunker shot for a sand save. We have 52 bunkers, so only being in one was a plus. The greens were very fast, very fast. Not what I expected them to be. No three putts, which was good considering the speed of the greens. Took a hole or two to adapt. I didn't keep score but it felt good to be out playing. I played a yellow ball today as it shows up better against the dormant grass. Was a little disappointed with what's going on though. The course superintendent marked 50 trees for removal. Said that it would allow the greens to get more air flow and be healthier. Well they started taking some down over the past few weeks. It's taking away from some of the beauty of the course in my opinion. On a couple of holes it was shocking. I talked to the pro after and expressed my displeasure about the amount of trees removed from around the greens. A few were definitely necessary but some holes now look like a links course. Guess I'll have a new course by spring. 13 Quote Driver, TSi1 10* Stiff Flex 3 Wood, SLDR HL 17* R Flex 5 Wood, SLDR 19* R Flex 7 Wood, F6 22.5* R Flex 939x 5 hybrid Irons, 699 Pro's S Flex (6 - AW) JB Wedge 56* Wedge, CBX 60* Putter, Marksman Fang 35"

I'm glad the small tornado did no damage to your house as you were bolting out the door. Syks7 957
Not particularly well today. 48 on 9 holes. There's just something about the pressure you put on yourself when you play with your father in law. Still great fun but it left me missing my equipment. Particularly my putter. Felt like I didn't have a trustworthy club to lean on to get back into the groove aside from the mizuno 54 that was lights out for me. I'd like to blame the equipment but it was really just me today. My iron play was poor and my upper and lower half felt out of sync. I just didn't strike the ball well most of the day Driver-- the old Callaway warbird did its job though I couldn't shape it or really get it to go. Maybe had to do with the retread provs I pulled out of the bag? It never hurt me so pretty okay with it. Woods and hybrids -- not bad considering they were loaners. Again I had a lot of trouble with distance on good strikes. irons -- I played mx 300s today and was awful with them. My swing wasn't good today. Felt like tempo was way off with the irons. Approach just burned me all day. Wedge -- the high point of the round. This should have saved me on multiple holes but for suspect putting. Putter-- I miss my betti like I miss a warm blanket. I wasn't awful but I also wasn't picking off 6-8 footers at the percentage I know I can. Dropped a single putt from outside 8' and three putted twice. I think I'm going to ship Stix my clubs out here next time. This is a challenging course for me but I'd like to play it with clubs I know yardage on, am comfortable with, and can play at my best ability with.
