Got applause from the clubhouse and the Senior League team were on the 1st tee so they all congratulated me which added to the occasion More than made up for losing the tie 3&2. We lived about 1/2 mile from the course and had a large practice green. About 3-5 evenings a week I would go there practice C&P then B4 dark head out and play a few holes mostly irons only. Occasionally another guy or 2 would join me. If I was alone I’d play 2-3 balls. Really helped me. @Rickp, That was the initial approach I took the first few weeks. I didn't hit any driver or irons but practiced the heck out of chipping and putting. The first few weeks looked promising as the driver and irons were working great where I didn't get too many penalties off the tee and the approach shots were landing on the green. Putting was a lot better and only some misplaced chips caused me to score poorly. This past week there were no wheels on the wagon to fall off..I done left those wheels at home locked up somewhere, LOL. The range session and the chipping and putting session after the round did wonders to boost my morale and have me looking forward to next week. MDGolfHacker 5 1 Quote What's In This Lefty's Bag? Popular Post Tom the Golf Nut 8,745
Had a great time today in the golf tournment I was invited to play in yesterday. My driver issues that crept in the last two weeks disappeared. I was hitting straight and long today. I hit all but 1 fairway so I was pretty happy. Irons and putting were good. Mr. Dependable showed up to play today. We played in a scramble format with 1 mulligan and 1 red tee per person. The team suggested to use a red tee on one hole which left 250 to the green. I said it's mine, I'll put it on the green! I teed it up put a good swing on it and it disappeared over the hill heading online to its target. We drove down and it was sitting just past the flag by around 10 feet. My putt lipped out and sat on the edge. That would have been a good one to have but nobody made their attempt either. But we were respectable with shooting 12 under. No bogies. We were out of the money but 6th place wasn't bad out of 18 teams. Good company, great weather, good golf. What else can you ask for. I hope I bring this game to Myrtle Beach next week. EasyPutter 2,902
Been working the driver since February on the sims and since April now outdoors golf is a thing around here and 90% of the time it is going straight and long. Fairway hybrids have not been doing the magic like they used to so those have taken a vacation out of the bag. Irons have been working (mine are iron hybrids) as well this year after listening to a Pro who said to imagine cutting a tennis ball in half and standing on the halves like buttons, one under forward foot ball and back foot heel, so that as the club is drawn back in the backswing the heel compresses that tennis ball half and then in the swing switching to pressing the one on the front of the other foot. Canting the iron also has had an amazing effect on considerably fewer chunked and topped hits, most often the ball makes an amazing sound off the club face and goes far. Far enough that I am having to re-map which club to use for what distance I am intending to hit clubbing down two at this point from what I was hitting last year. Reaching greens in one under par instead of at par so big improvement, might actually become a bogey golfer this year! 9 Quote Verified Hack, 23 handicap Golfing for exercise and peace of mind. |> Big Dogs: First StrikeTM Rattlesnake (10.5), Ginty Trouble Club (29) |> Blades: First StrikeTM DeliveranceTM 3(20) 4(23) 5(26) 6(29) 7(33) 8(37) 9(41) P(45) |> Wedges: Worx (55) |> Flatsticks: L.A.B. Popular Post chisag 19,796
... Finally got in 18 holes today. Not much energy and still tired and hard to believe it has been 3 weeks since coming down with this $%^&%$* sinus infection. First surprise was I tried to play Monday and only got thru 7 holes and mentioned that to one of the guys in the clubhouse (they all know me since I play 5 times a week) and Michael only charged me for 9 holes today without me asking. Nice start to my day. Then I was playing new irons, new shafts and a new driver with a new shaft. 20-25 mph winds but with the temps near 100* not a bad thing really. ... I really liked the LTDx Black with the LinQ White shaft but struggled with the KBS TGi shafts in my new Forged Tec irons. 5-pw with a FT-X 4 iron that was silly long off the tee and from the fairway and set me up for an eagle putt just over the 2nd green. I need to weaken it 2* and match the specs for the FT 4 iron. The FT's performed well but the TGi shafts just feels very brittle and stiff, unlike any graphite irons shafts I have played. Not sure if I was making poor contact, although all my par 3 shots had the tee mark in the center of the face, or the shafts are just very different because as I said, I felt a little weak and tired all round long. I am going to give them a few more rounds and then if the feel doesn't improve, I will re-shaft with Steelfibers similar to what I have in my MIM irons. Love that combo. 3 birdies and 2 bogies so 1 under par while still feeling under the weather gives me nothing to complain about. Resting this weekend then hopefully a little more energy for Mondays round! 14 Quote Driver: LTDx 10.5* ... LinQ M40X 6F3 Fairway: SIM2 Max 15/16.5/18* ... Tensei Raw Blue 65R Utility: UDi 18* ... gavinski91 1,844
Headed out of work to play 9 before dinner this afternoon, but I played pretty terribly. I was hitting my 3 wood well off the tee, but was fighting my irons, and poor green conditions took away the part of my game I can pretty much always depend on. I think I just need some range time to work out the kinks, because it feels like I’m close to where I need to be. 9 Quote Driver - Radspeed XB, Aldila Rogue Silver 70-S 3 Wood - Radspeed, Aldila Rogue Silver 70-S 5 Wood - Radspeed, Fujikura Motore X F3 6-S 4 Hybrid - Radspeed, Mitsubishi MMT 80 S Irons - Radspeed 5-GW, KBS $-Taper Lite S Wedges - King Cobra Snakebite 52° & 58°, KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 S Putter - Stroke Lab Black Ten 35" Ball - Z-Star XV Powered by
GrumpyGolf 879
Headed out today for an early Friday twilight game with coworkers for 18. First time I have played a full 18 in a LONG LONG LONG time. Walked the course instead of riding despite the hills. I did have a few high points with some drives that were ahead of the others by 20 to 40 yards, a couple of good putts from longer than 6 feet, and topped off with one birdie and two pars. Then there was everything else. My consistency is no where near where I want it to be, too many scatter shots. My short game needs me to practice and try to get back the one part of my game I was most proud of. I have a lot of work to get me back to where I was before I stepped away from the game, but even though I topped too many, three putted more than I would like, and had the worst score of the foursome, I was very happy to be back on the course and in the fresh air. Now if only the SW Idaho area can keep the weather at a level where it is comfortable to be out for 4 hours in the high desert air. 9 Quote Driver: Ping G410 10.5 degree ALTA CB 55 RED STIFF Fairway: Cobra FLYXL 3 & 5 Hybrid: Cobra FLYXL 4 & 5 Irons: Cobra FLYXL 6 - P w/ Mitsubishi Rayon KURO KAGE Black Parallel Graphite Iron Shaft STIFF Wedges: Edel SMS 50, 54, 58 degree with KBS STIFF 2g/8g/10g Weight Setup Putter: Odyssey Stroke Lab 7 Putter w/ Graphite & Steel Shaft and Pistol Grip Ball: Bridgestone Tour B X GPS: Shot Scope V3 w/ Trackers "You don't HAVE to go play golf, you GET to go play golf." - Harvey Penick
