I was getting so wrapped up in the scores and bad swings that I couldn't actually focus on what was going "wrong" in my swing. I spent some time on the range and found a few thoughts/keys, and then today I just really tried to not let my emotions swing too far one way or another. I still hit a few clunkers (one that led to the double bogey, and another on No. 16 that led to a bogey when I was 1-under at the time), but I tried to focus on the next shot and things worked better for me. The shots weren't mutually exclusive - the three-putts led to the double bogey and two other bogies. Two of the missed three-footers were that double-bogey and bogey. I also got bailed out by my course on two or three drives that went well right of my target. My course allows a right miss off the tee in several spots, and I took full advantage of that this morning. Thanks, everyone, for the comments. It was a fun round for sure and something I can build on (although my season is fast coming to an end). 7 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 6.7 / Anti-Cap: 12.8 (Last Updated Oct. 13, 2022) Driver: Callaway Epic Max LS (9°), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Club Champion Fitting 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", UST Mamiya Recoil 110 F5 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. Great guy same age as me and was a pretty damn good golfer. Guess he had been struggling with his driver and has a driving iron and he smokes the thing (hit his driver on 1 hole and that was it), was impressive. We passed the two groups ahead of us by hole 8 and cruised to my kind of round, 3 hours 10 minutes and done. Struggled on the front with alignment, struggled pulling everything left and just could not get myself in a good position setup wise. Worked it out by hole 10 though. Luckily was hitting the ball well so I was just off greens. Around the green helped me out big time. 79 with 2 birdies, 9 pars, 5 bogeys and 2 doubles (both on the front). Was not long off the tee today but the back was throwing darts with the irons and put a handful of short irons/wedges to 5’ and finally started making a few birdie putts. 6:05! I could use some of the early light here. Downsides of me being on the opposite side of the time zone, I suppose. Great round! One of the things many will find if they play a practice round if they can have the course to themselves, is often a bad swing will produce shots almost as good as your best swing. Hitting a hybrid a little thin from 205 that carries 150 and rolls 60 is not any different than a well struck hybrid that flies 200 hops and stops. Obviously a hook or slice is a different story but I am always amazed at how good bad shots can turn out. Especially off the tee with a driver. ... The point being when you play, just accept the bad swings because even at your level of play they are going to happen but you don't need to "fix them" during a round because you will probably put a good swing on the next shot. Golf always will be about managing your worst shots, so have a short memory and focus on the shot you are playing. Clearly shooting a 73 you have a good swing and a solid game. One of the Ah Ha moments for me as watching my favorite player at the time, Freddie Couples hit 2 hooks OB off the first tee in a tourney and I realized if someone at his level can hit back to back horrendous shots, why do I think I should hit good shots every swing? 5 3 Quote Driver: SIM2 Max 10.5* ... Popular Post cjeffs12
Had a breakthrough round today! The first day back from a week long cruise through the Caribbean, so I had no expectations after not touching a club for over a week. I shot my best score of 77, not my best swing but I was able to stay in play and get up and down. I didn’t even realize where I was score wise until 18 tee, but just focused on fairway and green like I was for the day. Looking forward to see where this can lead. Popular Post RichL85
After the atrocity of my range session on Friday, I went in with pretty low expectations today. Went out in the heat of the afternoon and had a bit of a round. For one, I ended up losing my phone around the 4th hole so my normal score tracking app couldn't be used. Strangely enough, that might have helped as the only score keeping was my Shot Scope. It was only one shot better than my previous best, but I guess any personal best is a good day out there. I just didn't know about it until I got the round to sync off the device. Ended up going 42/43. It was not always pretty, but I mostly just did a good job of avoiding big numbers. One double on the front and 2 on the back. Four pars on each side and a number of fairly standard bogeys. Had a bit of a mental breakdown in the middle of the back going double, double, bogey, bogey. No real excuse for it other than just that I got kind of pissed about the guys behind me hitting into me a few times because I was waiting on the group in front of me. Best hole for me was #12 where I hit driver over the trees to cut the dog leg, leaving myself about 40 yards to the pin. Didn't do any better than a two putt par, but it was my longest drive of the day. The driver is definitely still a work in progress, but this was enough to give me hope that it can become something useful in my game. Positive note. My phone was found and returned. Realistically, I can see another few strokes coming off that if I can find myself in the fairway more instead of having to punch out under the trees so often. The swing is still coming along, but I'm in a much better mood than I was on Friday. 12 Quote All PXG Bag: Driver: 0811XF Gen 4 w/ Fujikura Motore X F3 6- 3 Wood: 0341XF Gen 4 w/ Mitsubishi Diamana S+ 70g Hybrids: 19 and 22 degree 0317XF Gen 4 w/ Project X Evenflow Riptide 80g Irons: 5-PW 0311P Gen 4 w/ KBS Tour 120 Wedges: 50, 54, 58 degree 0311 3X Forged w/ KBS Tour 120 Putter: Battle Ready Blackjack, 36.5”, Double Bend neck My 2021 review of the Spornia SPG-7 hitting net: https://forum.mygolfspy.com/tests/20-spornia-compact-hitting-net/?do=findReview&review=66 My PXG fitting at Orlando location: https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/53343-the-experience-of-updating-an-old-bag/ My review of the 2023 Titleist White Box ProV1's: https://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/53743-2022-official-member-review-titleist-pro-v1pro-v1x-white-box/?do=findComment&comment=870552
Popular Post TheCanadianBogeyman
Well, if I ever needed proof that consistency was my problem, today was it. I shot 89, which for me is not too bad. 45 front, 44 back, no 3 putts. However, for the 9 consecutive holes in the middle (6-14) I was only 1 over par (par, bogey, and then 7 consecutive pars). So to shoot 89, I had to shoot a combined 16 over on the other 9 holes. I don't think I've ever started a round so mediocre, only to turn it around and play great, and then go back to absolute garbage by the end. I really need to work on eliminating those big number holes. and keeping my swing under control. 11 Quote Driver: Rogue ST Max LS 9* Woods/Hybrids: Epic Max 3 wood, G425 7 wood, G425 4 hybrid Irons: 921 Hot Metal 5-Pw Wedges: CBX Zipcore 50, 54, CBX full face 60, ChipR Putter: Spider EX

Popular Post Rickp
Monday Exec9, nastiest course in area. All holes all carry, wet even in drought!! I lost one ball 2nd hole the other 3 guys I didn’t bother to count. I didn’t feel comfortable over the ball all morning.
