How'd you play?

When you play almost every day, it all kind of blends together after awhile. Todays folly was pulling a double on the 2 par 3’s on the back but then still shooting a 77. It seems that there is always a hole or two that I chunk down with the double. Then after the round when m thinking that I shot well, I am reminded of those holes along with the 5-6 birdie putts that just missed…

I think a master class of short game and green reading would be helpful

I was able to get out for a quick yesterday after work... Didn't have the best ball striking day... but still managed to shoot +2 (38).  My most memorable hole was a pull hook off the tee into the trees that ended up next to the perimeter fencing... had to punch out by setting my club at about 1/2 a back swing - outside my normal path due to the fence.  So no backswing, just started from a set position, and threaded the needle between two trees into the middle of the fairway with 120 left.  Hit a 3/4 flighted 9 iron to six feet and rolled in the putt for par.

Same here, although ChromeSofts seem to be more prominent here than ProV because it's what the pro pushes...but there are a lot of Titleist players here, as well.  The only MaxFli balls that I find are my own

Really, really, really stunk it up today.  MGA day and the format was individual stroke play.  Ball striking was meh, putting was abysmal....end result was a +7 net with a gross of 86...and gross seems fitting for the performance I had today.

I’m not a Chromesoft fan.  BUT still want to try the Maxfli

... Not a CS fan either, although the LS model works better for my game. Irrelevant as I am firmly in the Maxfli Tour camp.

Rough day today. Played a flat course with plenty of water hazards, which made the 20+mph winds quite the challenge. Wind made things tough from tee to green, and my short game and putting wasn't as sharp as I've been lately either. 

Shot a 90, first time I've had this tough of a round in a while but sometimes a little humble pie brings some low scores afterwards!

Friday Bacon Boyz Exec 9.  We were 2nd group off @ 7:20 behind a women's 4some.  At 1st Tee we knew we were in trouble, 2 of the group never hit a ball more than 20 feet!! They were still on 2nd Tee chatting when we drove up to the Tee soooo we kept on going to 3rd Tee, problem averted.  
I shot 3 over for 8 holes!!!  Short Order Pancakes!!!!!!

Shot an 80 today, but played the next tees forward, so still shot +3 over handicap.  Rough is punishing right now.  The ball just sinks down in the Bermuda and is difficult to get out and even more difficult to control any distances.  Missed some easy putts today.

Ok, todays post will be a bit longer than normal, but stick with it, cuz it’s good.

first off a disclaimer, because I played from the white tees, as my buddy wanted to play there and since we don’t get to play too often it was fine.

second off, I borrowed a new rogue driver from the clubhouse to try out. It was a Rogue Max D, 9°- on some kind of a Tensi S 65 gram shaft 

first hole was a good drive and 100 yds out. I hit my A wedge to about a foot, and a kick in bird.  

Then birdied 4,5,6 and 8. So I was 5 under thru 8.

Then parred the rest up to 18, a par 5. Crushed a drive to 160 out, but had to bend an iron around the line of eucalyptus trees to go for a birdie. So I absolutely smoke a 6 and as it went around the tree, it hit some of the leaves and I thought it knocked it down into the fairway bunker. The the other two guys that we paired up with started yelling that it made it!

so I drove up around the corner and saw the ball about 4 feet from the pin, and my knees started shaking…

my previous best score ever was a 66 that I hit last year, so I knew at least I could get a bird and secure a 65, but I had to gather myself for this sneaky little left to right, that actually turns more than you would think.

sooooo, I gathered myself up and drew a bead on the left edge. Just took a firm smoothie stroke and watched it slip off to the right, but held on long enough to to fall in for the eagle, a -7 , final score of 64 for a personal best, and two strokes under my age.

I’ve been floating around ever since…

I’ve just watched a bunch of driver videos, and have concluded that a driver fitting is probably the best idea.

I can’t say the Rogue was super long, especially vs my Mavrik, but what I did notice was that it was endlessly right in the middle, and I did have a few long ones. But this Titleist TSR has definitely got my attention, probably the TSr2, as it’s supposed to be the most forgiving of the lot, in addition to being long.

the Rogue Max D has shown me that there are some significant improvements available, and if I can keep getting balls in the middle, as well as a few more yards, it might be time to find out what’s really my ideal boom stick
