Popular Post sirchunksalot
Played nine after work today and had a beautiful 75 degree day to be outside. I walked and put the Q Follow through its paces and it's amazing how much easier it is when you're not pushing a cart around. As for the golf, I started out and was +13 after six then the wheels fell off. +18 on the last 3 and completely forgot how to hit a golf ball. Really frustrated right now and my confidence is gone. It'll be ok, just got to dust myself off and remind myself that it'll get better and be so sweet when it does. 12
Popular Post Jnoble89
Not on level with most on the forum, but played my best 9 hole round to date yesterday with a 49. Started out +1 through three and then had an OB penalty and a 3 putt on the ensuing par 5 that threw me off a bit, carded a snowman there but recovered with a bogey on the ensuing hole and lipped out of a birdie on the next. OB penalty off the tee and then again on my approach plus a 3 putt put carded a 9 on the second par 5. Double bogeyed 8 and 9. If I can get away from the big mistakes, which get me a couple times every time I’m out, I’m shooting a much better score. Still was pretty happy with the end result for myself though 14 Quote Unofficial Craftsman Golf Head Cover Review TSi3 9* - Tensei White AV Raw Stiff Flex Sim2 Max 15* - UST Mamiya LIN-Q Purple 6F4 Burner Superfast 2.0 Rescue 18* RSi 1 4-PW Spider Tour Putter

It was a Rogue Max D, 9°- on some kind of a Tensi S 65 gram shaft first hole was a good drive and 100 yds out. I hit my A wedge to about a foot, and a kick in bird. Then birdied 4,5,6 and 8. So I was 5 under thru 8. Then parred the rest up to 18, a par 5. Crushed a drive to 160 out, but had to bend an iron around the line of eucalyptus trees to go for a birdie. So I absolutely smoke a 6 and as it went around the tree, it hit some of the leaves and I thought it knocked it down into the fairway bunker. The the other two guys that we paired up with started yelling that it made it! so I drove up around the corner and saw the ball about 4 feet from the pin, and my knees started shaking… my previous best score ever was a 66 that I hit last year, so I knew at least I could get a bird and secure a 65, but I had to gather myself for this sneaky little left to right, that actually turns more than you would think. sooooo, I gathered myself up and drew a bead on the left edge. Just took a firm smoothie stroke and watched it slip off to the right, but held on long enough to to fall in for the eagle, a -7 , final score of 64 for a personal best, and two strokes under my age. I’ve been floating around ever since… Well done!! Congratulations!! 4 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Yesterday I was having a fun and relaxing time until the 7th. I popped up a drive into high grass, hit a nice recovery 50 yards short of the green, then pull topped one 30 degrees left, hit a sign and it proceeded to hit a tree. Then I got to the 8th and they had all the tee markers together way back with the line of high grass blocking out all but the smallest view of the green. It just didn't set right to my eyes and I pulled a low screamer into the grass. Hit a bad recovery and it went downhill from there. My wife also tells me I shouldn't keep score for a while and that I'll pressing too hard to do well. That it gets into my head to perform well. Funny thing is, the 9th fairway is next to the range and littered with balls. While looking for my drive I took some time to whack some back to the range and hit toward the 200 yard marker. Hit some pretty good shots then shanked my ball into a pond. It'll get there, I'm just messed up right now from paralysis by analysis.

I've had similar issues and have joked in the past about being a better match play player than a stroke play player. So sometimes I'll do just that; play match play either against Owen or just by myself. By myself I'll set the bar at bogey and just play hole by hole. Other times I'll keep moving the target. Did I hit bogey? Keep it there for the next hole. Par? Par is my new target. Double bogey? That becomes my line for the next hole. So I guess that makes me smart by default. Thanks!! My wife actually says that sometimes I "act smart". I also agree on the not keeping score suggestion. I do that frequently when I'm playing alone. I play "golf shot". There are many ways to play a shot; I pick one that I believe is the best option. Hit it, then evaluate if I hit it the way I wanted or not. If I did, then go play the result. If not, I may either try again or pick another option for the shot. I enjoy the challenge of making the shot like I envisioned it... actually more than the score. My wife keeps our scores when we play together so I don't even worry about it then. 6 1 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

I agree, I think I've just gotten into a bad mental place over the last year or so over how I'm playing. I was actually really relaxed playing yesterday while averaging double bogey until seeing the tee on 8. That just messed with me and I spiraled badly. I fell into the trap of asking why instead of how. The mental part of this game can be brutal.

Popular Post Kenny B
I didn't get to play today ... except for the Men's Club going off #10 and the Ladies Club Championship going off #1, there was no other play. The range was open until noon, then the course has festivities in the afternoon for their 25th Anniversary party. The putting green has been transformed! Only thing missing is the clown's mouth!!! On a bright side... my wife is in 2nd place, both gross and net, after the first day of the Ladies Club Championship. Hopefully, she can come through tomorrow and add that title to the Match Play Championship last week. 11 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
Popular Post Syks7
I'll call day 1 of the club championship what might have been. 39/46 85. I started by putting my tee shot in the water for double then managed to pull it back and only got ve away a single stroke over the remaining 9. I was 4 over after 13, knew I was going to break 80, and then I imploded. Triple.... I did my best to recover but I never got my tempo resettled. Over the next 4 holes I gave away 6 more strokes. . Sloppy. That said. My game has progressed to the point that I can melt down and still shoot an 85, so not all bad. I'm also still solidly midpack in the A flight (9.5-11.5 handicap) so there's still opportunity to win tomorrow. The 3/ 11s that broke 80 today probably aren't going to do it tomorrow and there's only 3 others ahead of me. So we'll see. 12 Quote 0211 -- Tensei AV Raw Blue75 3 Wood RBZ Stage 2 - Diamana Blue Board 2 & 4 Hybrid RBZ Stage 2 -- TT Elevate Tour MP60 4/PW Nippon Modus 115 T22 52° & 58° -- TT Elevate Tour Innovai 6.0 CTR Ball: Zstar XV Divide
Hook DeLoft
First hole on my home course is a par 5. Excellent drive. Excellent 5 wood. 56 yards to the pin. Tried to get cute and left the shot about 35 feet short. FOUR putted for a double and it shook me so bad that I went on to shoot a 48 on the front 9. The worst 9 hole score in many a year. 38 on the back nine. I'm normal, but my golf game is schizophrenic. Popular Post Tom the Golf Nut
The Hole that made me laugh. Normally It's an uneventful round of golf with mostly pars, a birdie or two or a bogie or two. For today's round all but one hole followed the norm. I was even par going into hole 13 with one bird and one bogey. I will typically hit driver over the trees (dogleg left layout) and be 100 yards in front of the green. I'm usually looking, at par or birdie potential. Well not today. A freaking 9 on a par 4. Yup, you read it correctly a 9. Tee shot did not get up high enough hit a branch and ricocheted dead left onto the 9th tee box (1). I had a window to punch the ball back to the fairway. Figured I would punch it with a draw to get further down the fairway. It drew to soon and hit a tree trunk on the left of my opening (2). The ball went dead right about another 20 yards. Still left with other punch out. So I got a little peeved. Did not take my time and shanked the bugger(3). But at least I got in the fairway. Now I'm 160 out. Took my time, set up and hit what I thought was a perfect 7 iron (4). The ball flew true cleared the bunker and hits the rake that someone left on top. It shoots straight back and rolls into the bunker. The bunker was like cement and my wedge bounced off the sand sending the ball across and off the back of the green (5). Then I chip on (6) but it was down hill so it rolled out. I had a 15 footer backup to the pin. I went past by about a foot (7). I went to tap it in and it spun around the hole and back out (8). Tap in for a 9. All I could do was laugh. Next hole, par. Now I'm located right across from the tee box back on 13. Not one to let a hole beat me down. I went over and played the hole again. Seemed so much easier the second time around. Par. Then I made one more bird and the rest pars to close out the round. At least I kept the round in the 70's with a 79. Popular Post RollingGreens
I decided to take my new swing to the course today in a 20mph headwind. After topping 2 shots to start out and finishing with a 7 on the first hole, I got in a heated. My driver came out hot and the ball looked to be getting through the wind nicely. I finished 3 over the next 8 holes. The back was up and down. Good shots and bad. Some shots hit really thin or line drive wedges which wasn’t something I had seen before, thus the high and lows with swing changes. Finished with a 42 on the back, I had 2 holes where I doubled because I slapped it around a bit. All in all pleased with an 83 for using my new swing and also trying out my Scotty today to see if I could get any traction with it vs my spider. More than likely I will have the spider back in the bag but it’s fun to get it out every once in awhile 12 Quote G425 LST 10.5 Aldilla Rogue White 70s TS3 15.5 3W Fuji Speeder Tour Spec 818 H1 19deg Hybrid Fuji Atmos White JPX 921 Hot Metal 4-PW Nippon Modus 120s SM8 50,54, and 58deg Dynamic Gold Wedge Flex Spider Tour Putter Vice Pro Plus White or Titleist ProV1x Hoofer Stand Bag V8 3 Wheel Push Cart 300 PRO Rangefinder Official Nippon Regio B+ Driver Shaft Review

Yesterday I made a few unlikely 15 footers and today I missed almost everything inside of 10 feet. Driver was decently solid both days and I hit some really great irons and wedges.
