98 off the stick on Saturday off a daily of 19. Terrible golf.  Must've hit 20-30 fat shots.

Oh well, back to the basics & trying to take a small/no divot and swinging smoothly.

Winter here, starting to dry out a bit, but not quick enough......

93 this morning before work   Overall pretty solid day of hitting the ball, seemed like every hole was a par or a few doubles thrown in on top of the usual amount of bogey's.  No birdies, but no disastrous blow up holes.  I didn't make any long putts of significance, which I'm normally good for 1 or 2 15 footers per round.   But I didn't blow any 3 footers either.

So all in all a normal "boring" round that shot to probably a stroke or two better than my index.

Played an interclub match today and my opponent was 89 years old or 50 years older than me.  I will clarify that with he is an 18 time men's club champion at his club and has beat his age more than 900 times.  I shot a nice 75 after a double on #1 to win all three points.  Won the front 4 up, back 3 up and overall by 7.

Nice job!  Just curious what he shot and from what yardage, so I know what I can expect in another 20 years.  ;)

53 tonight. 2 really poor holes, but the putter was pretty good for a 2.0 putt avg for the night (7 2 putts 1 3 putt 1 1 putt). Started to hit the irons more consistently and hit them well. Had one blowup hole where I hit a PW too far OB 2x. Back at it again tomorrow night, feeling good.

Nice job! Just curious what he shot and from what yardage, so I know what I can expect in another 20 years. ;)

He shot 92 off a 15 handicap from 6,400 yards at sea level on the water. The super had the blue tees up today on most holes since it was an older crowd that played. The balance was some thought pins in spots that were not easy to get to. The guy was a machine and played the par 4's for bogey and hoped I would make worse than a par. When we played the first leg of the inter club at their place he shot 80 and dusted a 3 handicap that is a former club champ at my club.

Strange round of 9 over, playing off 6. Wind was up, blowing 20-25mph. Realised my 8 iron was in my daughters bag just before teeing off, of course I was bang on 8 iron distance for my shot into my first hole. Had 3 over on my first 9, only hitting 3 fairways. Had a double after finishing 6 inches from the lip of a fairway bunker. Missed 3 and 10 foot birdie putts.

Butchered the the first 3 after the turn, 2 X 3 putts and a couple of brain fades. Got it back together after nearly holing a 70 yard pitch and holing a 15 foot birdie putt. Finished with a 3 putt bogey after shaving the hole for birdie. Hit 5 fairways this side, but couldn't convert.

played 18 Sunday. Shot 45 on the front and had a really great back 9 up until 18. Ended up shooting a pretty solid 86, including a triple of 18. The tough holes that dog me I played in a relatively decent one over. I'm happy at that.

Didn't get to really play last night with a 3 club alternating shot format at league. I was friend out from the moment I got there and heard this. Maybe hit 2 good shots all night. Absolute waste.

48 in league play last night.  it was one of those rounds where I felt like I hit it better than that, but took a stupid penalty for hitting the wrong ball, then ended up with a two doubles due my stubborn head not knowing that my new 816 H1 hybrid doesn't fade, it only goes straight, and hit it into trouble on the approach of two holes.   That's Golf!

Played 18 holes at one of MGS's top ten Florida courses, TPC at Treviso Bay. Shot a 84 and was +2 on the front which is amazing for me. Also got to use the new Ben Hogan VKTR hybrid for the first time on the course. No spoilers on how that went ;)

Really looking forward to what you guys think of these.  I bought a 19* VKTR with the NV 85x in it and so far it is everything that I could want in a hybrid.

Sometimes the golf gods smile on your game.

I played a mediocre 18 on a fun course with two friends today.  I doubled 17 and put my shot on the edge of the green on 18, 45 feet from the pin.  As we got out of the cart, my golf partner  told me to end the day well with a par.  I turned to him and jokingly asked "Why not a birdie?"

"You called that one," he yelled as he fist bumped me after draining the putt.

Fourth round back after injury layoff yesterday. Shot a 40 on the front nine, started feeling I might be back. Not so fast. Even though I hit a number of really quality shots on the back nine, limped home with a one par, three double, 47. Hit two of the best drives I can hit, left with a half wedge and wedge respectively and came away with bogies on both. Horrible wedge shots. That part of my game, as well as the putting, is definitely showing the results of a two month layoff. Add a way, way out of bounds push moonshot drive on seventeen (still don't know where that came from), two three putts and the score goes north. At least I can look back on a number of really well struck shots in the round (including a 230yd five wood out of the rough (albeit a great lie) to twenty feet (after kissing the flag stick on the way by) on our #1 HC hole (the Valley's mirror twin to Stadium 18). And I made the birdie putt!

Nonchalant putts count the same as chalant putts.

I am struggling, I've got the marching golfs, your left, your left, your left, right, left. From the tee I am all over the place one goes left, one goes right, then back left, then smash it down the middle, then right, it's horrible, I have no idea where it's going, I'm stoking it well, just hanging it out to the left, then hooking it right the next time, everything feels right, just can't get the ball in the fairway. Anyway, I'll figure it out soon.

Played 18 at my usual course. Started out red hot-- even through 5. The rest of the round was a solid meh. I shot a 4 over front 9 but had a 3 putt, two missed 5 footers and wasn't pure with the irons. On the back missed another 5 footer for bogey, hit a bombed drive that I couldn't find (thought it was perfect, but might have clipped a tree or something similar.) The back 9 was pretty ok from there out. A few missed irons, a few missed putts and I ended up at 84. Not a bad round, just frustrating I couldn't keep it together longer.

Bad weekend, cart path only, fairways not mowed due to excessive rain last week. 89 on Sat, 87 on Sunday. I could not keep the big stick in the fairway this weekend and struggled here and there with irons. I did replace my 3w with a 4 wood(Cobra F6 Baffler) @16*...could not hit off tee but nailed it off the deck. Oh well, it's only one weekend. 3 bottles of water plus Powerade each round for hydration. Weather was very muggy.

Ok I'm an 80's shooter normally, it's been extremely hot here in NJ recently but we decided to play our normal Sunday round at 6:30am. For a second time in my golfing carear I broke 80 and shot 79. 38 on the front and 41 on the back at Shark River in Neptune NJ from the back tees not that there's too much difference from the whites but I'm feeling proud today!

That's an understatement. I know the guys up North are complaining about their 100 plus heat indices but that's an every day occurrence for us. I had a 3 PM tee time today that got pushed to 4 because of a fifteen minute down pour at 305. I think that was a blessing, the course was wet anyway, they haven't been able to mow the rough. It was really tough to hit crisp shots and you didn't want to be in the rough.

I hit 13/14 fairways, the one miss was in the first cut but it hadn't been Mowed so it was a thick lie. I still knocked that one on from 180 with a 4 hybrid. My playing partner keep hitting it in the rough, we'd be side by side 10 yards a part and he couldn't get it on the green while I was thinking of getting it close. I hit 9 greens and my proximity to the hole was great on nearly all of my misses. I was able to putt 2 of them from off the green and made one for birdie. Went 36-37 73 with four shots of Glenlivedt 21 and two cigars along the way. Our round took 2:45 and the temps were pleasant on the back nine. I hear the thunder roaring in the distance and the radar indicates that more rain is coming.

Posted a painful, literally, 49/41 90. Second round back and the body began crying foul on the 2nd hole. Thinking I didn't stretch my back out enough before the round and I paid for it. On a plus, I didn't run out of gas this week. It's all a work in progress right now.

My wife and I drove up the interstate an hour to Yakima on Saturday to play the country club (wife's family are members).  It's an absolutely beautiful course, but it's built on a hill and the greens were fast, and I have not played it in over 20 years.  I hit good drives, missed 3 fairways but the rough wasn't bad.  I could not hit greens and only 2 up-n-downs, mostly due to poor putting.  I couldn't read the breaks, and the speed was off; a bad combination on severely sloping greens.  Shot 48/42 90.  Very disappointed because the guy we were playing with shot 76.  It helps to know the course!

Today my wife and I played at the club where I started playing golf 25 years ago with my first teaching pro.  I did not hit the driver very well all day, and shot 41/37 78.  I did pretty well scrambling on the back nine.  Like I said, it helps to know the course!

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Summer in Florida!

I officially hate summer in Florida. Was in Miami for three days last week when it was brutally hot. Went home and it was no better. Just got back to Miami and it is miserable. Can't wait to go to Vegas next week when it is 109 the entire week.
