How'd you play?

Pretty crappy round today, until hole 17. 169 to the pin, anemometer said 7 mph from right about 12:00-1:00 ( in our face) and this happens. How can you have a "bad" day on the course, and do this? 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Of course "bad day on the course is relative" as any real golfer will assert that a "bad day" on the course is better than a good day almost anywhere else.

I hit some really nice shots today... and some that weren't so nice.  Started the round with bogey-par-bogey-par-bogey, then parred the rest of the front nine for a 40.  Five more bogeys on the back nine for another 40.  What was funny was that pars were easy pars... some missed birdies; but the bogeys were mostly very good saves... 10-20 yard pitches close to the hole, 10-15 foot putts to save bogey.  All day long my swing felt off balance and seemed like I was always scrambling.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

... I could have a meteorologist as a caddy as I don't think the Golf Gods care what I use. They get a big kick out of me never having a HIO. Having dunked 2 on the fly that came back out of the hole damaging the cup and watching my cousin bank a slice off a tree and top another down a hill that hopped over a little stream and rolled in the hole they are clearly having fun with me.

Yesterday was one of those days that hope look darkest before the dawn. Ballstriking anything over 8 iron was abysmal. My recovery shots hit a tree 7 times. At least I putted well. Still worst score in 2 years

Thank you. I’m looking at it as what I am capable of when all goes well. Hoping to see my normal 90-92 scores become the 88-90 scores soon.

I don't know if this will help you however I would go over "fairways hit, greens in regulation, and total putts" just to see where you excelled or were better at, I believe that would be a good place to start to move the needle and get more consistent in your scores, good luck and have fun...

Great advice and that’s exactly what I’ve started looking at. Hitting fairways and GIR this round definitely made it possible.

I have commentary on the VCT thread. Shot a 46/56 yesterday for 102. Driver broke on my 6th hole. I was +1 at that point. With my wife’s reaction after telling her I need to get things fixed/replaced, I may not be golfing for a while. Just can’t see playing much without a functioning driver, although this could help my ball striking as I’d have to focus on my irons more.

Played a, let's call it adequate, 9 - nothing really good but nothing really too too terrible.

Kept the ball in play and .. generally .. moving towards the hole. Well.. ..except for those two punch outs that found the sides of big trees .. and the ball got bounced a little bit away from the greens... 🤷‍♂️

Driving was better than usual - hit driver 6 times with 5 in or just off the fairway; one was pushed-blocked-sliced just a leeetle bit offline... Followed by one of those ooopsie punch outs!

But best tee shot ended up being #9 - kind of a low bullet that went straight-ish enough to bounce and roll and catch the slope down towards the pond fronting the green...

20230528_110732.jpg.43731be7e392d8bbc48b1cc5cf61b048.jpg

..leaving me about a 60 yd wedge towards the flag.

Landed it maybe 15 ft or so right of the flag .. got a little nervous, I guess, having both a FIR and a GIR on this hole and blew the first putt 8 ft or so past the hole 🤦‍♂️

Nailed the second putt .. Par baby!!!

And, yes - the cart seat is a *great* accessory on those s.l.o.o.o.w. days!

In what was truly a tale of two halves.  Played pretty good on the front kinda came apart on the back, but by this point my back had tightened up and I lost any kind of swing.

overall for a course I played for the first time I’ll take under 100.

course overall was beautiful, the bugs were atrocious though.
