THEZIPR23 2,461 #9821 Posted June 12 69 9/14 fir 13/18 gir 28 putts Not a perfect ball striking day but very time I looked up ball was going where I intended it. 28 putts is a little bit of a farce as I had 8 1 putts and a 3 putt. Of the 1 putts I made 1 from 24’ for par and everything else was inside 6’. Nice to see consistency in my game for once. 8

edingc 1,922 #9824 Posted June 12 Played with my in-laws and brother-in-law today in a benefit scramble. Shot 61 (-12), which put us somewhere in the middle of the pack. Minus our four "grenades," where we converted pars into birdies, we truly shot -8. Pretty happy with that score. Neither of my in-laws hit it very far anymore, so a lot of the driving and long irons were left to my brother-in-law and me. Personally, had a handful of really good shots, including a couple decent drives and a few great approaches. Putting started shaky but was better by the end of the round. The course was The Royal in Canadian Lakes, MI. Course was in amazing shape and fun to play.

The 79 came on Sunday from better ball striking, hitting more greens, but I'm still averaging about 33 putts per round; 2-3 more than normal. The nice round came today with my walking buddies. One guy hasn't been playing for there for more than a month; a 76-year old Marine Col. pilot (I was informed that there are no "former" Marines.) he's a better player than I am; probably a 6 hcp, but we usually are about the same off the tee. We only played 9 holes, and he shot +1; I shot +2, bogeying the first two holes which are the easiest on the front nine. I was happy with that. I outdrove him on most holes; I had a couple of 230+ yarders; no wind. HUGE for me, but summer is about here, so fairways are firming up!! On the Par 4 #3 hole (#1hcp) shown here looking back to the fairway from the green: water all down the left side and in front of the green and high grassy mounds all down the right side of the fairway; I hit a slight draw 230y to the center of the fairway, then a wedge to the center of the green 3 feet from the hole. Nice birdie on a hole that I make bogey 50% of the time and occasionally a double bogey or worse. On the 146y par 3 #4 hole I hit a 9i to 8 feet pin high; missed! The 565y par 5 #5 was driver, 3W, wedge to 2 feet; didn't miss that one! I also managed to par the 546y par 5 dogleg left #9 hole with a pond in front. Here's a view from the fairway looking toward the green from over 300y out... do NOT want to go left; bad grassy hill!! I don't like quoting my own posts, but I need to this time. Remember my great play on #3 on Monday walking with the guys: nice drive, wedge to 3 feet... birdie on the #1 hcp hole? As I said above, it's a hole that I bogey 50% of the time with the occasional double bogey or worse. Well, today my wife and I played with our tax accountant. On that hole I got an "other"... a 9; two balls in the water and a 3-putt!! With my no warmup before Hole #1 double bogey, I was +7 after 3 holes. My worst start in years!! I did settle down to shoot 46/37 = 83. Our accountant bought the beer.
palvord 2,551 #9827 Posted June 13 After work 9 yesterday. Shot a 47. 3 putted twice. 3 double bogies. So many missed opportunities. Loving the Cobras on the course. Throughout the bag, I don't ever feel like it is difficult to make clean contact with the ball, even in the thickest rough. When I stop leaving my club face open, I love the ball flight and results. Was the perfect after work 9.. The weather was beautiful and the course, Rackham Golf Course, is a Donald Ross design so it challenges you to think throughout, which I really enjoyed.

cnosil 7,446 #9831 Posted June 14 League night and it was a disaster. Was running late due to a meeting and traffic; ended up getting to the course when we were supposed to tee off. Being one of those people that like to be early, hit a few chips, iron shots, and putts prior to the round it wasn't a good start to the round. Parred my first hole but then went double, bogey, par, birdie, double, triple, bogey, double for a smooth 10 over. 2 FW, 1 green, 16 putts. I feel like I only hit 1 good shot on the day. Just one of those rounds you want to forget and try to move on. 3
CarlH 2,489 #9832 Posted June 14 Men's Club night: Format was 3 clubs plus putter. I originally thought I'd play 3W, 7 iron, and sand wedge. At the last minute, I made a poor decision and replaced the SW with the PW. Bad decision!! On 3 holes, I found myself in a position that made the PW a bad choice and all 3 holes cost me with a double bogey (twice need to flop a PW). 3 doubles, 2 bogeys, and 4 pars later, I come in with a 8 over for the nine. Tied for 5th, which paid nothing, but did earn me some points towards our Ryder Cup team pick.
yungkory 5,514 #9833 Posted June 14 41 (par 37) 4/7 fir 5/9 gir 17 putts I actually played pretty well today for the first time in what feels like forever. Funny enough I lost a stroke laying up when I cooked it too far left playing off of a lie where the ball was almost waist level. Lost another trying to flight one low that I just launched and hit a tree that couldn't have been more than a ball's width. That's golf!
CarlH 2,489 #9834 Posted June 14 Guys and Dolls scramble (seniors and ladies). We didn't win, but I got KP with a perfectly executed 8 iron from 137 yds using a Snell MTB Red for this shot.... 8

Sluggo42 3,825 #9838 Posted June 14 Shot a tidy little 73 today, with an eagle on a par 5. Solid drive and a smoked 4 wood got me to the dance, and a double turn 60 footer putt. Best part was a PB from one of my regular compadres at 71. You just couldn’t wipe the smile off his face, his old best was a 75, same track...
THEZIPR23 2,461 #9839 Posted June 15 70 7/14 fir 11/18 gir 27 putts What a roller coaster round, 2 eagles 3 birdies, 8 pars and 5 bogeys. First time I have ever made 2 eagles in a round and they came on back to back holes. Par 4 5th was pin high about 10 yards off green. Chipped it in. Par 5 6th, driver, 5 iron to about 25 feet but just off green. Chipped that one in too. Had another eagle putt on 10 from 36 feet. Couldn’t get that one to drop. Obviously I should’ve missed the green.
