Slugged our 9 holes in 64’ and light breeze, can’t blame the weather.

Had a couple of pars 1bird, rest bogie. Good group guys that played not particularly well either but we all moved quickly.IMG_0700.thumb.JPG.db9deccecfcac920e9145f408bf5b0c6.JPG

Made the putt! Mine is the yeller ball.

Come to think of it... I was there at the end of June in 1978.  Rained a lot.

I got out for 9 at Navy Marine and afterwards questioned why I keep subjecting myself to this.

48

FIR 1/7 (14%) and the one I did hit was on a drop kicked drive. Garbage.

GIR 2/9 (22%)

Putts - 19 with two terrible 3 jacks, with one coming from 7 feet.

I'm extremely frustrated and it's hard to pin point an area to work on when it feels like everything is going wrong.

thank goodness for the 3 birds... driver wasn’t on like it was the other day, but the Hogan Ptx pro’s Made a few great hits, and the putter was saving me too.

this game is comprised of great hits, lucky bounces, and bad breaks. How they all come together each outing makes up your score for that day.

see it’s easy when you just break it down...

Do you have a coach or a good pro you trust to take a look at your swing? Could be something simple...

... While I am always reluctant to give advice without actually seeing a player, I am going to do it here. 🤪  Take a look at your line and get a general idea of what your line is. Then completely forget it and only concentrate on speed. Hit your putt with enough speed to die in the hole. You can do this on the practice green with uphill, downhill, sidehill and flat putts. Do not worry about making the putt, just hitting it with the correct speed to stop around the hole. Not only will this eliminate 3 putts, you will most likely make more putts because just like stepping on a rocky path where you see those places to step and then look ahead to your next step, you can trust your brain to tell you foot where to go without looking at it again.

... Your brain will do the same thing with the line and free you up to roll the ball to the hole for an easy tap in if you don't make the first putt. I don't care how badly you miss your line, unless it is a massively breaking putt that fools you, you will always be within a foot or two of the hole. Contrast that with picking a good line and leaving it 5 feet short or rolling it past the hole 5 feet and that is a recipe for a 3 putt. Obviously the correct speed and line give you the best chance at great putting, but concentrating only on the speed will eliminate bad putting.

You're an athlete - just be one; try not to be so technical.

I think a lot of us (myself included) can get caught up in being so technical that we forget that if we just act/react naturally as athletes then things start to fall into place. One of the things that I have to remind myself all too often. Shawn Clement does a great job of explaining this on YT.

Very true and every time I've tinkered, I've ended up playing poorly!

No coach at the moment, but I found one I plan on working with once I get settled in San Diego. And I agree, it likely is something fairly simple!

I literally just ordered a ball marker from Liberty Ball Markers that says 'Mind The Speed'! I keep it in mind every putt, but I just need to practice more.

41/41 for an 82 today.  No birdies, one double from an OB, countless putts that burned the edges on the high side.  Good putts just a hair off the mark.  Oh well.
