Popular Post LeftyHawk 518
Friday was an absolute train wreck. Played a new course, tee boxes and fairways in wonderful condition. the greens were microscopic, I mean a few of them weren't much bigger than the tee boxes. I paced #10 and the green was 15 paces by 10 paces. Pretty small target. Add that to the incredibly narrow fairways and it sets up for a disastrous round. I stopped keeping score after the 7th hole, by then I was at 60. I lost 8 balls just on the front 9, I haven't done that since the 80's! My iron play was from another planet. I was doing things I haven't done since I was 20 ,playing with persimmon woods. I have a 7 iron shot into the 2nd green. I hit so far behind the ball I think my club was still on hole one. Took a swath of turf about 18" long and 6" wide. Ball went maybe 20 feet. Shook it off, refocused.....swing.....another county sized hunk of turf and another 20 feet. Now I getting a bit ticked at myself..( and a little blame on the club). Mind you I still 150+ from the green, shot 4.......a carbon copy of shots 2 and 3....this time the 7 iron flew further than the ball......Anyhow, crawled to the end of that hole, took a breather for a while to regroup myself....stepped up to the 3rd hole tee box. Par 4....Took out my driver, 'I got this" my driver is the one club I have absolute faith in, I haven't mishit that club in years. Step up, go thru my routine....SWIING.....topped the ball, it went about 5 yards........the driver went 20 yards!!!!!!! Step up to it with a 3 wood...CRACK right on the screws......right into the woods! Now I know what you're thinking....I should have packed up the clubs and gone home....well, I ain't that smart...You would think at 60 I would be...but...no! The rest of the round never got any better, I'm lucky, or maybe the clubs are, that I didn't snap a few over my knee, at least I was smart enough to remember what I paid for the G410"s and that kept me from sending the irons....shall we say.."BANG....to the moon Alice"..... As I sat on the porch that night cleaning my clubs, reflecting on the day's events I realized I should have done some things different. First I was planning on a 10 am tee time, didn't call for a tee time, just showed up, this has never been an issue in the past, course was jammed, on the course #2....jammed...called course #3...jammed. Finally got a 2 pm tee time at course #4. Headed there and that's when the train wreck started. I should have stopped for lunch before going to the golf course. Should have called course #1 days earlier for a tee time. Anyhow, it's a day to be forgotten..... Time to mow the yard..... cksurfdude 7,923
Played 9 after what seemed like a looooong break .. heat, storm, house stuff.... but actually only about a week and a half. Most tee shots were ok; most seconds were not so ok; and most short game and putting was ok. So a typical mixed bag?? I was, can I say?, easy 2 putting everything but there were a few first putts in there that I thought I might've had .. but just a tad too much break and/or tad too much speed. #8 had a solid 1 putt for a Birdie, but then gave it right back on #9 when I missed the second from 1 1/2 feet... D'OH..... Finished +6 (Par 35) with reasonably clean round save for a 2-chip out of a bunker (bounced and rolled off the far side of the green) and that closing hole 3-putt. Next time! MrBandit 359
Played today, but really, I have played awful the last few rounds. Putting has been horrible, there was a few holes that I didn't even touch the cup or came close. I always said golf is a love / hate relationship, right now is on the Hate... drove the ball decent, irons were ok, wedges were good, but putting HOLY COW.. what a s*** show. And the Par 5 i have completely gone on the butcher cycle, perfect position of the tee and just butcher the next shot. Need to take a break from Golf for a bit. Going the wrong direction after making good progress. Popular Post cciciora13 690
Put together another nice 9 holes today. Shot 37 (+1) Was striping the driver leaving PW/ 52 deg into greens a couple of times. I started out really hot with a 52 deg wedge placed to 1 ft on the first hole for birdie. I unfortunately gave it back on the next hole after not getting up and down for the bunker (too good to be true) LOL. My only blemish besides that was a 3 putt on #7 because I ran the first putt too far by. I was able to tame the island green for par this round compared to the double bogey I has last week. All in all a fun round with my fiance and parents and can't wait to do it again! 11 Quote In my bag: Driver: Ben Hogan GS53 10.5* Stiff Mitsubishi tensei blue 3 Wood: Insight BUL Stiff Hybrid: 939x Hybrid UST 680 recoil shaft stiff Irons: 699 irons KBS tour 90 v Stiff 52 Deg: 588 RTX 2.0 56 deg: Reg 588 tour action 60 Deg: 588 RTX 2.0 Putter: Studio Stock #3 (Winn 1.32 Pro x grip) Rangefinder: Caddytek V2 Check out my MyGolfSpy 2020 Forum Official Tester: Ben Hogan GS53 Driver

dlow206 5,129
Had one of those rounds where the score was not good, but I learned a lot and in my mind progress was made. I've been able to consistently miss right, instead of big two way misses. My home course can be very punishing to any misses, generally with left misses meaning you are hitting the ball into someones yard. Still had some right misses today, but made a minor adjustment to my driver (increase loft by one setting to slightly close the face) and that helped. Now I need to overcome the fear of hitting the ball left and not being afraid of it. Lag putting was great today. Changed the grip on my putter to more of the style I was used to in the past, one that is much larger in size than the Sense grip. That helped my distance control significantly. 8 Quote Follow my golf journey to break into the 80s Current tester for the Titleist TSi Driver Spring 2020 MGS Tester for the Fujikura Motore X Shaft Updated 12/27/2020 Driver: TSi 2 - Graphite Design AD-XC 6S Hybrids: SIM Max 3H, 4H - Matrix Ozik 85S Irons: ZX5 5 - PW - Nippon Modus 120 S Wedges: CBX 2 54, CBX Full Face 58 - KBS Hi-Rev S Putter: ER2

chisag 11,552
... It is amazing how the first hole can set up the rest of your round. Playing into gusts of 20mph I wiped my tee shot and hit a tree, leaving me 210 to the pin instead of 140-110 which is normal depending on the wind. Just felt horrible hitting one of only 2 trees far right on this easy opening hole with no fairway bunkers. Hit a great 4 iron under the limbs to the thick rough just short and left of the green and I felt much better. The ball was sitting down but not egregiously and I misjudged the thickness hitting a poor chip that came up 12 feet short and felt horrible again. Then I rolled in the 12 footer to save par and felt like anything was possible LOL. My back is still tight and I am not swinging freely the last couple of weeks so there were plenty more up and downs and I finished the front 1 under with a lone birdie on the most difficult hole. Played the back +1 and it was a grind from start to finish, but I thought the opening hole really set the tone for the round. Heading to #2 at +1 after playing an easy opening hole might have meant a different kind of day. 9 Quote Driver: TaylorMade SIM Max ... Diamana Limited 55R Utility: Callaway Super Hybrid 17* ... MattF 9,508
I shot a 45/43 88 and I'm not mad about it. First time in the 80's for a while. Best hole was the par 6 16th. Hit a small 230 yard drive right down the middle, chunked a 6 iron a whopping 70.5 yards then hit a perfect 3 hybrid 195 yards onto the green and 2 putted for par. The new swing is starting to come together. 8 Quote In the bag: Driver: M5 Project X Even Flow Blue 6.0 Fairway: Sub 70 939X 15° Project X Even Flow Blue 6.0 Hybrid: CBX 119 19° hybrid Project X Even Flow Blue 6.0 Irons: D7 Forged 4-GW Project X Catalyst 80 6.0 Wedge: Smartsole S Putter Tracy Bag: Alpha Convoy 514 Balls: MTB-X or Black Cart: CaddyLite ONE Ver. 8 God Bless America, God save the Queen, God defend New Zealand and thank Christ for Australia! Popular Post revkev 22,051
We managed 16 today when the pro in our group said, “I see yellow popping up on my app - lets get somewhere safe.” The somewhere was my buddy’s house off the 15th tee with a bottle of Glenlevidt 18 in the bar. As we drive our carts into his garage the rain started and lightning was jumping.I had 68 for 16 holes. Key was that I had the straight D7’s in play. Can’t wait for those forged bad boys. Our opening hole is a par 5 that is beyond my length to reach in two any more. I hit my 3rd shot to 4 feet below the cup, leaving me an slight uphill putt with no break for the bird. I missed the putt. Although I wasn't mentally distraught over the miss, I never did play well the rest of the round. Yesterday, I sunk my birdie putt and won a net skin on the hole. Today, my handicap was one stroke lower than it was yesterday and I wouldn't have gotten a stroke there...although the birdie would have been nice to have, regardless, and maybe the rest of my round would have gone better! MaxEntropy 6,517
I had a fun three days of golf with some friends in central Illinois. Friday was Prairie Vista in Bloomington - pretty open course with some tough greens. Shot 82. Saturday was iron-only day at University of Illinois Orange Course. Perhaps a bad idea for that course at 6600+ yards from the most forward men's tees, but ended up with what felt like a good 88. Today was a muni in Jacksonville, IL. I sucked. Couldn't hit an iron, ended up with a 92 on a pretty easy course. 7 Quote Driver: Tour B JGR 9.5* Recoil 460ES cut to 45" 3W: Tour B JGR 15* Recoil 460ES 3H, 4H: Tour B JGR 19*, 23* Recoil 780ES 4-PW: Tour B JGR HF2 Modus3 Tour 105 AW: S5 52* SW: 588 LW: MD3 Putter: Stroke Lab Marxman Bag: Tour B Stand Bag Ball: Z-Star Pushcart: BigMax iQ+ Tester Starting Driver Speed on PRGR Monitor: 102 mph Final Driver Speed (end of Level 2): 120 mph

Kenny B 23,143
Fairly decent weekend of golf for me. Driver played a little better after I adjusted it from 10.5 to 9.5. Saturday I managed to hit 5 iron shots catching the heel in the turf sending the ball left. I had adjusted the lie angle to 2º flat a couple of years ago, but I'm thinking that maybe they moved a little back to standard. Going to have them checked this week. Short game was pretty good and helped me have a DOUBLE BOGEY FREE weekend. So that's nice. On Saturday my wife and I played with 2 guys; one a pretty good player and the other has been playing a month. On the 1st tee I said, "Uh oh!! Great guys and while the golf newbie hit a lot of bad shots, he hit a few good ones. The best part was he played fast. With as many shots as he took getting to the greens, we still had to wait on the group in front of us on nearly every hole. I managed a 42/40 82; a round that had a lot of distractions. On Sunday my wife and I played with a couple we usually play with a lot, but not in the last month or so. A little better round for me at 41/37 for 78. I managed only one birdie on hole #14, which was matched by my wife. She also had two other birdies... I'm jealous. 9 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
