It is pretty highly regarded around here and it lived up to everything it’s been hyped up to be. If you’re ever in Western MA do yourself a favor and book a tee time. Had a 41/45 and really struggled 10-14 when some rain came in but was just a great round overall for my first run at the course. 7 pars 8 bogeys 3 doubles. Popular Post alfriday101 944
A bittersweet round of golf today. The Geriatric Golfers are a foursome that have played together for 43 years. I sub in on a regular basis when one of the group is out of town, even though I am 10 years younger than them. The group started playing a best shot about 10 years ago when one of the members had a stroke and could only chip and putt. Two weeks ago we played and one of the regulars was dragging. He was undergoing chemo. Two days later he went into the hospital and didn't come home. He passed away on Sunday. I joined the other three regulars for Geriatric Golf today. We were joined by Mark's 30 year old son and 5 year old grandson. We played a match of old guys v. the two youngsters, but the match really didn't matter at all. We told stories about Mark, remembered great, and not so great, shots he hit over the years. We shot ten under, which equals our best round. A fitting send off to a good friend, who will be missed. 8 3

Popular Post tony@CIC 17,516
Well I chalked up another cra**y round - 100. This time at Eagle Creek which is one of my favorite courses in northern Ohio. My driver has been getting steadily worse - it started just before the northern Ohio get together. At the outing I had just a couple of sky balls then and its getting steadily worse. I had 6 bad drives today - all sky balls. I've been reviewing everything - position, grip, alignment, etc. to no avail. I called my instructor on the way home and told him I need an intervention so we're meeting up for a half hour lesson tomorrow. If that doesn't work, I'm calling a sports psychologist. Kenny B 24,289
I played on Wednesday with my wife, BIL from Seattle, and my buddy that used to walk with me on Old Guy Mondays. He moved to the other course in town to play in the Wolf game that I join once in a while. He's a 77 year old Marine and has been playing very well lately; shot 74 on Tuesday and has shot even par this year. This was his first time back at my course, and he struggle a little on the front nine, but made a comeback on the back nine. I shot +2 on the front with one birdie but started to fall apart on #14 and 15 with a double and a bogey. I manage to close birdie; par. Shot +5 on the back for a round of 79. My buddy shot 80... a rare time that I beat him. He informed me that there may be a permanent opening in the Tue/Thu Wolf game coming up. I don't know if I'm up for 18 holes on Tue, Thu, Sat, and Sun plus a 9-hole walking round on Monday. 6 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
