Sad that it was about 25 +  years ago and I heard it as it was said. He also said something about body bags being behind one of the tee boxes for the guys who missed the green. The Masters doesn't appreciate a good sense of humor.

I remember it also, nearly peed my pants when he said it.
Some people didn’t care for McCord’s humor especially the Masters Elite.

It’s going to really be a good change for me, especially because my back isn’t hurting or tight right now! Driving was a little off and putting was way off. 43/40:83. 10 fairways, 11 greens, 2 near greens, 38 putts with 5 3 putts.

Had 4 of the 3 putts within the first 6 holes including a 3 putt from 5 feet.

Hit a lot of fades off the tee that were bigger than normal dispersion. With a couple just requiring pitch outs.

Second round with the Honma irons and I am really enjoying them. Swing still results in more toe strikes than I want but the clubs are forgiving enough that I don’t lose much distance.

Great all around round the other day at a nice public course in the area - Prairie View Golf Club.  Didn't keep all fairway/greens/putting stats, but really had most of my game in control.  Green reading and putting was probably the biggest let down, but still was fair.  

Birdied all four par 5's and this was the first time in a long time I can say that I played aggressively and went for them in two each time.  I was over the green on the first and on the green with fairly good looks at eagle for the other three par 5's. 

Driver was very good except for one errant drive that I got away with and stayed in bounds.  Approach shots were better than average, but still room for improvement.  My scrambling really helped me to stay in the round with many great chips where I was shortsided.

Shot a 74 from the Gold tees and course rating is 73.1, so very happy with this round.

Was fortunate enough to play a very nice private course in Central VA today - Country Club of Virginia James River Course. This is the same course the Champions Tour played on about a month ago and it was a Volunteer Tournament - I was a random lucky winner this year. It was a Team Best-Ball Shambles style tournament where we took the best drive of the group off the tee and then we all played our shots to the hole.

Driver started very hot and team took my drive on 7 of the first 8 holes - I contribute this to my new Ping G410 I recently purchased, so was quite pleased - however my irons game, normally my strong suit, was a mess...couldn't hit anything higher than a PW worth a lick. Thankfully, my wedges, normally the worst part of my game, were oddly on fire and chipped about 8 hits within 5ft to score us some team birdies. By the back half, the driver started to wane and my old bad habits crept in again. Few slices off the time, or just some bad tops had me a little frustrated. Wedge game stuck with me the whole round though. Thankfully the driver came back to me for the last two holes and was able to score us two more birdies with just my shots! Driver, Wedge, Putt makes this an easy game

Team shot a respectable 74, which put us in 5h place out of 12 teams. Out of the money, but a great day and simply amazing weather for early Nov - perfectly sunny, not a cloud in the sky, and high of 74, just gorgeous.

Got out again this morning and played Okay. 46/41 87 and my back survived two days in a row. I'm not talking about yesterday because it was really bad, but any rounds played now in NEO are classified as practice rounds.

I lied a few weeks ago when I said I was done playing for the year. Cold weather moves back in tonight, so I thought I'd take advantage of the break to get another 27 holes in. Nice playing in shorts on Nov. 10!

I went back to one of the "new-to-me" courses I played for the Cobra Connect Arccos Caddie challenge. I really enjoyed the course when I went for the first time, and they were on late fall rates at $25 for 18 with cart. They did just recently punch and sand the greens (most others in the area did it over two months ago now), but they rolled pretty true so it wasn't a big issue.

Battled a 15-25 MPH southwest wind all day and am ecstatic with how the season finished up.

Opening 18

- 41/40 = 81 (+10)
- 7/14 FIR
- 6/18 GIR (1 birdie)
- 31 Putts (2 3-putts, 9 2-putts, 7 1-putts)

Second 9 (Front)

- 38 (+2)
- 4/7 FIR
- 4/9 GIR
- 15 Putts (6 2-putts, 3 1-putts)

Putter was on fire all day, as was the short game. Lots of chip and downs. Took three holes to get going (started bogey-bogey-bogey) without having any range balls beforehand as I haven't hit a ton of balls lately. 

Played only one really bad hole all day. Sitting 115 out on No. 6 during my first round, I tried to hit a flighted gap wedge under the wind and ended up pulling it left into the green side bunker, from which I just couldn't get out. Three shots later, I two-putted for a disappointing double. Couple other bad shots here and there, but thankfully recovered pretty well from all of them.

I was able to sneak in another nine and played really well, leaving a couple birdie and par putts literally less than four inches short. A little more gas and I'd have flirted with par or even perhaps one-under. 

I mentioned the wind. I hit an absolutely crazy 9 iron from the fairway on one of the par 5s that rode a nice breeze . Almost hit the layup too far into the pond guarding the green.

Well for what may be the last round of the year in warm weather for me I had one hell of a first. First time I have made three eagles in one round and not one came via a holed putt. Started on the back 9 with a terrible bogey on a 100 yard par three. Get to 11 and hit my drive up the right hand side leaving me 178 yards into a 455 yard par 4. Absolute pure 7 iron that landed 8 feet right of the pin and kicked sideways for a deuce. Made pars until 15. Pounded driver up the right center and then dunked a PW from 143 yards for my second eagle on the side. Made bogey on 18 to turn at 3 under. Made birdie on 3 and then went driver, 3 wood, pitch in on the par 5 4th for my third eagle of the day. Ended with 67 thanks to a sloppy bogeys on 8 and 9.

Solid numbers to slowly close out the season. What time are you losing sun? We are almost before 5 here

i’m stoked to be consistently scoring around 45 for 9 and low 90s for 18. i picked up a club for the first time ever in july...so i can’t be mad about it 

today i snuck the 12th in and walked off the green at 4:35. i could’ve teed off on 13 but would’ve been finishing in the dark. winter’s coming!

Was lucky to play both courses at Trophy Club in Roanoke, TX last week.  They're called "Whitworth" and "Hogan".  Ms. Whitworth did not design the course named for her, I believe Arthur Hills did the work, but Mr. Hogan himself designed the "Hogan" course, the only design he ever performed.  I didn't play great, but certainly enjoyed the courses!
