Shot another sub-80 round this morning 41/38 = 79.  Not one birdie, but no doubles or worse either!

Amazing after trimming two evergreen shrubs; my back, shoulders, and arms hurt!!

My wife gave me stereo fingertip violins; she shot 105... if you only count 7 shots to get out of the bunker on the par 5 #18  😆... not her best day, but not her worst either!!

Those aren’t your everyday shrubs 😱

Got out Saturday with @DiscipleofPenick. It was a beautiful day and the course was in great shape, but there are getting to be too many leaves. We played a pretty liberal version of the leaf rule, so my score doesn't really have much meaning (I think I lost 5-6 balls we should have been able to find). I struggled with driver pretty badly. Way too many push fades. Case in point on 18. Red line was my intended target. Yellow line was pretty close to actual start line. The ball ended up in the bunker. I know exactly what that means in relation to path and face angle, I just had no clue what adjustments to make. In reality, I still don't. I just hope when I play tomorrow, the swing is subtly different (as tends to happen) so it stops. If anyone wants to suggest some easy tweaks to try, I'm all for it.

The one time I hit it straight, it was dead at my target of a big tree. It hit the tree solid and it must have vaporized because we never found it. I felt like chipping was terrible, but Arccos doesn't necessarily agree with me. Maybe it's because my chipping has been really good recently so my expectations were getting too high?

We had some decent wind Saturday and for the first time I recall, the Arccos "plays like" distance was way, way wrong and I flew a couple greens by 20-30 yards. The winds were swirling a bit so maybe I picked the exact wrong time to hit the ball solid?

Walked River Heights alone today.  Another great fall day, a little chilly to start but warmed up nicely.  Still breezy but not as bad as yesterday.  Started out pretty strong.  Driver was great on the front nine.  Irons and wedges were solid although wayward.  Shorter clubs were going right to left and any time I tried to compensate they just went straight, and therefore right of target.

Fell apart a bit on the back nine.  Lost a few balls on poor tee shots and on an absolute shank of an 8 iron approach shot.  Overall putting wasn't terrible but still plenty of room for improvement.

Leaves were a factor.  I teed off on one hole with a Srixon Soft Feel and somehow putted with a Q Star.  Honestly not sure whether the switch happened on my long iron or wedge shot.  Lots of putts looked like this or worse:IMG_20221024_113326743.jpg.bd1c5d2e11beeeb157296005acc41f1a.jpg

Overall I was very happy with my round, a 43/50 93 (+21).

Course looked gorgeous though. I took this pic on #15. The old box car is a bridge that leads to the 16th tee. Really cool feature IMO

Caz GC 10.24.2022 and another round of 2 parts, again 1-4 were like the warmup holes and 5-9 was the main event.  Triple on 1 could have been much worse as driver just wasn't working, neither was fairway hybrid and irons took over getting onto the green and 2 puts stopped the counter climbing.  Double, single, double, single, double, single, single, double - sounds more like lyrics for a dance song than golf I want to be playing at +3 for the day.  Decided I am considering it a warmup for the next rounds that will be main event for MGS Forum Tour 🏆 week 5 entry.

5th fairway approach to the elevated green on the right side of the photo between my playing partners.  The tree an excellent sunblock to pan back to the fairway in the opposite direction on the left and the colorful trees bordering this par-5 that I did reach with a chip on in 4 (lag putt just missed the cup...) ⛳

73*F at tee time, this is late summer weather and it is supposed to be around here all week until Friday when temps are supposed to dip after a wet Thursday.  Hmmm Thursday... ☔ sounds like my kind of weather for a below handicap round!

... I usually post good rounds or sometimes really bad rounds here but skip the boring rounds. After shooting 69-68 my last 2 rounds I played today and shot a 75. It was one of those mediocre rounds were everything was just a hair off. I hit some good shots but mostly ordinary shots resulting in 2 birdies with 5 bogies. Perfect example, I hit a really good drive on a par 5 giving me a chance to get home in two. I had 225 and a perfect 19* hybrid that I wanted to skirt the bunker on the right side short of the green as the fairway slopes right to left, bounce left and on and roll to the hole. Good swing and hit it really solid but I missed my line by about 5 yards and ended up above the bunker and had to stand in it and choke down to the metal. Hit it on and 2 putted when I was a few yards away from an eagle attempt. Seemed like lots of those kind of shots today. Back at it tomorrow!

So... THAT'S the different between your game and mine.  I get those lies all the time, but I'm always chipping for birdie (or worse)!!  🤣

Was a rough day at the course. Have not played in a couple weeks and it showed. Iron strike was was off, driver was not in good shape. Short game was ok as I got a good solid 30 minute warm up on that. I was keeping score for a time, but that fell off quickly as I just tried to see what I can learn. Mostly learned that I should practice more, and that my course, as expected has some big changes coming, they already built a new par 3. Interesting to see where they go from here.
