How'd you play?

... This is a habit I could get used to. Had another Eagle today. Driver-Dhy-12 foot putt. The irony is I later missed 3 birdie putts that were all closer. First green was much slower than normal and bogied to start my round, then bogied #4 when I pulled my approach from 205. 2 over after 4 and then eagled 5 to get back to even and turn my momentum around. 12 straight pars after that with 3 makable birdies missed. Hit a poor approach on 18 but hit a very nice LW from a tight lie and then missed my 6 footer. These greens at Aguila are the hardest greens to read that I have ever played. Just so subtle and most breaks that look like 6" or so are dead straight and then a straight looking putt breaks 6". Gonna take quite awhile to learn these greens.

-4(33) on the front, with 5 birdies.
+6(41) on the easier back with 2 doubles.

I just forgot who I was for an hour or so.

Someone must have fired up the microwave on the 15th tee.

Putter was working well today! Started out with a 3-putt double on the first but after that I turned up. Had a case of the pulls with every other club, but putter saved me. Need to figure out driver again, but it seems like it's always something  and I'm just happy to be able to threaten shooting par.

12 Bacon Boyz this morning! 5 of them off the Covid-19 virus, glad to see they’re doing pretty good.
I haven’t played much expectations were low. Shot 5 over for the 9 so felt really good. Only one bad Tee Shot, putting was poor but have an excuse, greens lightly sanded and poor shape.

Tried to play today, but slow play, cold weather, and drizzling rain ended our round early.  After playing 4 holes (3-some), we encountered a slow group and decided to go around them, skipping a hole...turns out we skipped 5,6, and 7 to avoid the 2 slower groups.  By the time we got to 13, we came across another group.  We knew they played quicker, so we weren't worried, but after playing 13, we saw 2 more groups in front of them, both 4-somes and both walking, so after playing 14, we cut across the street taking us to the inside 9 of our 27 hole course and teed off on #4.  By now, the temperature had dropped significantly and the mist was rolling in.  After 5, it started drizzling and we quit after playing 6.  No idea, what I shot or would have shot, but I did not win our game of nines.  Bought a lottery ticket and I might be a billionaire by this weekend.....or I might not.  Snow is in the forecast for next week.  If you followed this rambling post this far, you really need to find something better to do with your time.  LOL.  Peace out, my friends!

Shot 42/42:84 today with a birdie on #1. One of the holes I didn’t birdie in 2020. Weather warmed up to high 70’s. We had 45 players today.

42/37 at Mesa Del Sol today.  Came close to an even back nine with a peek-a-boo birdie putt on 18.  The weather was great and with the rains now moved on from the last few days, the air is crystal clear and the mountains looked picture perfect... so I obliged (though they do a poor job).

18º last night... so 2 hour frost delay today; the club started everyone on split tees.  Sunny, not a cloud in the sky.  It got up to 41º today but that was after we finished.

Not a great day, shot 86 with 2 triples and a double.  Those 3 holes really cost me, and there were NO penalty shots involved.  My wife moved back from the Forward tees to the Senior tees and shot 87.  I have GOT to start playing better!!

However, I did have 2 birdies; both holes I haven't birdied this year, so those went on the 2021 Birdie Challenge spreadsheet.  One of those birdies, our par 4 #10 is a hole I didn't birdie all of last year.  Wouldn't have birdied it today, if I hadn't chipped it in.  Glad to get that one out of the way early this year!!

Played in our annual Alternate Shot event.

Not great. We shot 78 and finished 2nd with a triple and no putts made longer than 6 feet..  

We did make more birdies than any other group, so that's nice.

Got a round in today in less than stellar conditions....pretty sloppy and the dreaded cart path only

Course was playing quite a bit longer with all the rain but the good news it was really easy to hold the green

Played OK today until the #6 hole -  started on the back nine where I shot 39.  However, the 10 I took on #6 deflated my game for the last 3 holes... finished with an 87.

My biggest problem was getting the tee height correct on frozen ground.  On most holes I used a knockdown shot to land the ball short of the green and bounce it in to the green.  Can't do that on the par 3's with trouble short; ball ends up over the green.  On one hole I purposely landed short in a bunker as the sand shot was easier to get close to the pin than a shot landing on the green.  

We finished, put our clubs in the trunk, drove out of the parking lot, and it started snowing... still snowing 3 hours later.  Don't think the course will be open tomorrow.

Played 27 on the sim today, and I had my two lowest rounds ever on one of these babies!

We played Hazeltine- Ryder Cup setup first, and I shot even, 72. Then we played 9 at Whistling Straits-Irish course and I shot one under 35!!! 

The sledgehammer and the putter were the stars of today!!! I hit SO many fairways, and I even made a few putts! 
I put some specifics about how the driver did in my thread “PMookie’s sledgehammer”.

First ace today! #17, 121y PW that dunked into the cup. Best part was the group in front was part of our group, and waved us on since we were playing greenies. Heard it hit the stick from the tee box, and every one on the green yelled back that it went in. Super exciting, honestly never thought it would happen. Somehow managed to par the 18th after to finish the round.
