... LOL, that would work for me. I do have 6 pair of Ecco Biom Hybrids with 4 in rotation and 2 in reserve so probably set on shoes. Of course I am always very happy for any golfer that gets a HIO. Thanks for the well wishes and while I have mentally given up on a HOI, anything is possible.

... I have 2 Albatross (double eagles) and while some say that requires more skill, and admittedly it does take 2 really good shots, I was certainly not aiming at the flag for either one just trying to find the green and just got lucky. OTOH, I have had good yardages and aimed right at the flag hundreds of times and a HIO remains elusive. In 35 years I have scared the hole coming up 1" short twice and spun back an iron hitting the flag stick and bouncing away a few inches once. My cousin who has never broken 100 has 4 HIO's. I saw him top a 5 wood down a hill from 160yds, jump over a little stream, bounce on to the green and roll in the hole. He was pretty stoned as usual and shot 103 that day. A second HIO came after a 30 yard slice hit a tree, bounced back on the green and rolled in the hole. Without the tree he would have missed the green by 40 yards away and in the woods. Ya gotta love the Golf Gods. 🏌️‍♂️🧙‍♂️

2 Albatross is amazing. I’m going to forecast your first HIO. Long par 3, water front and left of green, pin cut on the left. You’ll aim for centre of green, pull it, think it might be wet, get a kick back to the right and into the hole. After that you’ll have one a year for 3 years. So remember this whenever you play a long par 3 with water left😁

... Well I have had 4 months of mediocre, out right bad and some occasionally pretty decent golf but only 3 total at par or under out of about 100 rounds. That said, I think I am finally figuring out

HIO's.....

Is it worse to never have one.....

or have one while playing a practice round alone on the second ball you hit while trying knock down shots with different irons?    😬  That was back in the late 70's and I been waiting for the first real one ever since.

One of the last rounds I played this year with 3 others at a private club and there was a guy playing solo behind us (it was 40 degrees) and we could see the green of the par 3 we just finished from our tee box and one of the guys in our group went "holy sh*t, he just made that!".... the guy who hit the ball didn't even react and when he got to the green the 4 of us gave him some applause but he was kind of ho-hum....

I suppose if you're playing solo it doesn't have the same effect.

64* this morning, light breeze beautiful weather to play.
Even Par after 6 holes then I started thinking, bad very bad. Ended up 4 over with doubles on 7 & 8 and Par on 9.
It’s pretty much official that the G710 irons & TSI2 driver are staying in the bag for foreseeable future.
Hard to keep the Mizzies on the shelf but G710’s are more just a little more forgiving.

It doesn't. Mine was solo and I was sure the ball hit the pin and rocketed away. I didn't have anyone to help me look for it, so after wandering aimlessly around the green for a while trying to find it I looked in the cup and I was like... OH!

My only eagle had 2 witnesses from the next fairway, and they started whooping it up. Honestly that was way cooler.

I've had one ace in my golfing life, December 1st 2017.  Unusually warm day in Nebraska, but still high 40's/low 50s with some wind, so the course was pretty empty.  I was supposed to play with my boss and his deputy; twenty minutes before the tee time he sends me a text and tells me something came up and they couldn't make it, but to enjoy my round.  Which means that when my flighted 9-iron from 148 on #7 at Willow Lakes Golf Course found the cup, not a soul on earth saw it happen.

Gorgeous day here in Fl. Light breeze, mid to high 70's and sun behind clouds some of the time. All 3 made it very pleasant. My wife and I played Cypress Creek, she wanted to play from the men's tees and just bombed her drives - a couple even came close to mine 😳. It was a tale of nines for me; 47 on the front and 43 on the back. Drives were great, fairway shots not too bad. Putter and wedges are in "time out" for being non-cooperative. Here's a pic of one of the par 4's on the back and of course the ubiquitous alligator which we still haven't gotten use to seeing. IMG_6480.JPG.a1d2e050ef2cf8d583ea0768e2a1d8f5.JPG

Pushcart Mafia on the course today.....weather was foggy with 55*-75* .
Shot a 38/43:81 with no birdies, just solid shot making all day long. The Cobra Speedzone Extreme was on target (10/14) and my Wilson D7 Irons were straight(GIR 28%). My Evnroll ER6R was shining with only 29 putts. Overall very enjoyable round........and I was Walking!

Local course was brutal today with firm but just watered greens and 25mph wind gusts. Kept it together and shot 79. Had some absolute bombs with the new (to me) SiM Max. Had 2 330y+, one 375y and I put one in the green side bunker on the 414 yard par 4. Only reason the scores weren’t lower was the putting. I watched balls stop at the hole then roll 14 feet down the slope. My buddies shot in the 90s, and I only kept it low-ish by overpowering the holes where I had wind help.

Played on a sim (Nip it Golf) in Longview, TX, today. Second time here. They have a TON of great courses, so today I played the Plantation Course at Kapalua since it’s one of my favorites to watch on TV. Plus, they say it has the widest fairways on Tour, so talk about building confidence! Ha! Shot 3 over from the blues. I’d love to see it in real life because the undulations in the fairways were CRAZY!!! So cool.

Then I had just enough time to play the back 9 of Torrey Pines. Picked it since the tournament is there this week. MUCH narrower fairways. Shot even.
The sledgehammer was money again! So good. So fun!!!!!!

Put up a monster score of 104 (ESC 100) yesterday at Tangle Ridge in Grand Prairie, TX. It was my first round of 2021 and first round with the new irons and putter as well.

Driving was erratic at times causing a few penalties and forcing me to pitch out from a bad spot two or three times.

Irons performed surprisingly well. I did notice a slight drop in distance, but probably won't be more than half a club when the dust settles. Highlights were 7-iron on 2 and 6-iron on 10; both of which stuck pin-high about 12-feet left of the hole.

Short game was average, but serviceable seeing as I haven't played in a month.

Putting was the worst. It's the first time I've had the new putter out in daylight on a green and I didn't really start to get acquainted with it until the 13th hole - including an hour of practice before the round. 😞 Once I got the putter moving right though, everything came together in terms of feel and distance control. Highlights were a downhill 30-footer for birdie on 13 that trickled over the front edge, and an uphill 20-footer from just off the green at 15. Thought I was going to make another long putt on 18, but it turned in the last foot or so to miss by a couple inches. All said and done, 42 putts... OUCH.

The greens at this course are diabolical to say the least and pin placements are oftentimes downright cruel, but considering my previous round (with a different putter) required just 28 putts and my previous average was 31, I clearly missed the mark.

That's golf though! 🤷‍♂️

At least I snapped a few pictures (including the approach on 10):

... Got hit by a golf ball today. Last second I saw a ball just before it hit my arm straight on after one hop, stung pretty good. Guy hit a low hook from the other fairway and kinda yelled fore AFTER the ball hit me. Guy came over and I said "Next time, please yell fore before the ball hits someone so they have a chance to avoid it." He replied "I didn't think it would get to you" so nowhere to go with someone like that as he didn't even say he was sorry. One of my pards said "You hit him and we heard the smack it was moving so fast, the least you could do is apologize." What he said next verified my nowhere to go with someone like this "hey he got hit and my ball didn't go as far as it could have if he had not been in the way. We both loose". CJ started to walk toward him and I said just let it go. He he isn't a hot head so he just sighed, shook his head and we moved on. Thankfully folks like this are very few and far between but I already have a bruise. 🤕

Something like this?  Happened to me a few years ago the day before I was to leave on a 2 week golf vacation.  I still went.

IMG_1327.jpeg.1782cff031a019a4fb4fbe01ab559d5e.jpeg

Actually, people like that are not far and few between.  Happens quite a bit at our muni.  The people that apologize are the rare ones.  In the 5 years that I have been a member, I have averaged about 25 balls a year that land within 10 yards of me.  Most of the time, the people hitting them don't know you are there, and being next to an interstate, no one would hear a Fore!  It's the one thing about my course that I don't like, and although I joined again this year, next year we might move.

Should've been a 39, but I got greedy on #9 and went for the green in 2, with like a 20 mph wind in my face. Like an idiot, I toe hooked it almost pin high, but 25y left and had to chop it out from the bush Actually hit a decent shot considering my backswing was restricted, and it was in some deep crap, but couldn't stop it on the green. Few putts away from a solid 9-holes for me, struggling with speed a bit still.
