How'd you play?

New swing changes are coming along nicely, I need to work on my tempo am still a little quick with my lower body, creating a bit of an over draw. BUT, i have started to hit more GIR which has been my weakest stat, which normally I have overcome that with my short game.(hence I practice chipping and putting 3 times a week)
And for the first time, I have had 2 back to back rounds in the 70s, which is also a positive. Maybe by next year this changes will be more natural and I don't have to think about positions and turns.

I had one double that was the direct result of hitting a ball above my feet….I’ve already said in the hardest shot thread that this shot is the most difficult for me.....  I need to figure out how to effectively hit the ball when it is significantly above my feet.

These gave me issues too, i was very inconsistent with these shots.  Until i started playing them as a punch shot.  I take an extra club,  grip way down, play it back in the stance a little and pretend i am playing on a breezy day in The Open and hit it low and let it run.  I have found it doesnt go left too badly either so i dont have to aim right.  Maybe give this a try if you havent already.

41/40 at Desert Springs.  Up until about 2 months ago I would have been quite happy with that score... funny how quickly our standards can change 😊.  Three 3 putts, several left pulls on approaches, mediocre short pitch DTP, and several missed birdie chances contributed.  But, I did hit one of the best 4i approaches I can recall.  181 yards on a rope leaving me 12 feet for birdie... that I missed.  I'm also seeing improvement in my 3w strikes and ball flight.

Taking the positives and dumping the negatives 👍.

Shot 48, they had a scramble yesterday and the pin placements were still in all the nasty places. The best score in my group was 45. I lost track of how many 3 putts we had. I really wasn't hitting any really bad shots, had a couple bad chips and 1 pulled iron shot into the trees. Play well everyone but more importantly have fun.

Sounds like a “Greenskeeper Revenge” pin placement 😁

We had a Charity Tournament every year @ Torrington CC in Goshen CT and the pin placements were put in the nastiest parts of the greens and the greens were “wicked fast”.  This CC was a great venue.  Good times.

used golfnow to play at a semi-private course yesterday.

thought I'd be playing with some other people but I ended up going out before all of the regular members. walked 18 in 3 hours flat. something clicked on the back and ended up with a 78.

it can be done, golf can be played in less than 5 hours!

I normally get out by myself first tee time off at 6 in the summers and play in about 2:30 it is glorious

Blew a 39 with a 7 on the par 4 9th. Blew a 40 with a 7 on the par 4 9th. Blew a 41 with a 7 on the par 4 9th.

😞

42 still a great score for me, especially the way my game has been. 6 pars 🙂

Yes, it most definitely can.  In MT I often played 18 holes solo, walking, hitting 2 balls (my unofficial ball tests 🙂) and did so in just under 3 hours.  Men's league here in the summer is back to 4 hours, but once the snowbirds are back, winter league will be 5+ 🫣.  I really dislike that part of the league but it is what it is.

Shot a very strange 45 this morning. Played a different that usual course and played up a tee. Hit the caley off all the par 4s and used it for 2nd shots on the par 5s. Lost several balls but scrambled well enough to avoid major scores. Best hole was a par 3. hit 6 iron to 21 feet and sunk the birdie.

Owen and I played the back nine at River Heights yesterday.  The hooks were creeping into my iron shots again which put me in a few tight spots.  Had a great drive on 14 that left me about 125 out and it took me five more shots to put it in the hole, which was a little frustrating.  On 15 I hit a monster drive but it was offline and wound up in the creek that crosses the adjacent fairway.  Inside about 50 yards and putting were a little dicey.  Overall I'm content that I'm still making good contact even if its not always going where I want it to go.  Shot +13 49.

Man. I’m hitting my irons so good. 74 today with just two birdies and really had some great chances. 6 putts inside 15’ that really could have gone.

I started on 10 and made 9 straight pars. 7/9 greens.

Back 9 hit 6/9 and made 2 12-15’ for birdie back to back.

This one felt good today.

The clubs always seem to come alive when they get threatened to be sent to the chopping block.

True Story

Yep and it's silly that it's even happening...darts Mark

It was as if I were on a 14 hour road trip with 2 screaming kids in the back...we all lost.

But if I had to pick one, the TSi3 was slightly better when I was making good swings.

I argue there is no better shot than a mid to long distance iron dart. Can’t be beat
