Popular Post Siamese Moose 749
In recent years due to age and injury my swing had become a mess of band aids and compromises. I've been working with an instructor to build domething sustainable for the long haul, and what I'm now doing is shockingly different. That means I have trouble erasing years of muscle memory, and my scores have been poor due to a few disasters per round. I haven't broken 80 yet this year. Today I only had one really poor hole, and I managed to save double with a great pitch. Throw in 3 birdies and 3 bogies for a 74, and it's the best score I have ever had! 12 Quote Moose, my cat, is Siamese

Thank you for the encouragement! It's difficult sometimes not to let the frustration seep in, I'm really working on the mental game and yesterday instead of asking "why?" I was working on asking myself "what can I do this next shot?". I wanted to start focusing on using each shot as a learning experience and building different shots for my game. Popular Post Lacassem 16,715
Man what a round. My cousin and I halfed the Match play round from last Thursday so we carried over to this week. Gorgeous day and the course was as always in great shape. The greens were hard to stick and super fast. Super impressed with how my cousin has shaped the course. The first and second cuts around the green were just incredible Overall I was happy with the score result of 41 but disappointed I took as many penalties as I did (3). 2 birdies, 2 pars, 2 bogies and 3 doubles!!!!!! First hole looked like it was gonna be fantastic. Great tee shot middle of the fairway and I ended up skulling my 2nd shot over the green and took a penalty. 2nd hole blocked my tee shot. Took a drop and doubled again after a really great 2nd (technically 3rd after the drop) shot. Best hole of the day was hole 3. Took an easy 3 wood and put a gap wedge to 3’ on by far the hardest green on the course. Made the bird The nest several holes we halved and stayed at down 1 (first hole came around to bite us) until the 8th. I’ll preface with the 2 we were playing against were the pro who’s a good golfer and an 18 years old kid who literally is just amazing to watch play. No flaws in his game. On 8 we both hit good drives opposite sides of the fairway. I hit my 3 wood from the rough and carried the green rolled to the first cut, chipped on made the birdie putt. The kid puts his second shot to 12’ made eagle To win. Was just impressive because he eagled last week too .. was a blast of a round just wish I didn’t take the really bad penalties I did! 11 Quote Check out my reviews: G710 Irons Official Review MC Shaft & V Series Putter Official Review WITB: Traverse is filled with all this shiny metal and tracked by RadSpeed 8* - MotoreX F1 6X SIM 3W - Project X HZRDUS Green SpeedZone 4H - Project X HZRDUS Black 2019 P790 4-PW - Project X 6.5 LZ 48 (SM8), 52, 56, 60 (SM7) - Nippon Modus 125 S ER2VI PROV1X #19 Thank you to all those that have served/are serving and God Bless America

After missing most fairways and greens and dealing with lightening fast putting surfaces with a smooth 77 yesterday at Camelback Padre with not a single birdie til the 18th (and I had to chip in from 20 yds off the green) I had a nice comeback today . I posted in the play correct tee thread about playing a combo or building your own and I did just that today at the Raven. 6722 is just too long for me with #3 a 459 par 4 in lush conditions with little Rolla nd into a gentle breeze. Ironically I thought I had a birdie as I reached the 443 yd slightly uphill in 2 with a 4 iron and cozied up the 30 footer for a tap in but then was reminded it was just a par 4. Payback came on #12, a 476 yd par 5 I again reached in 2 with a 4 iron from 205 that landed just short, hoped on rolled 15 feet past the hole and I made the putt. Thinking it was another silly long par 4 I commented I needed that birdie after landing in the sand-less bunker on #10 and having to play away from the green only to have my playing pards say "No, that's an Eagle 3, it's a par 5" That was a very pleasant surprise. ... So for my game, 6264 is just too short and as stated above 6722 a little too long so I played 9 holes off the silver and 9 holes off the white for a comfortable but still challenging 6474. The 202 yd par 3 uphill with a deep bunker guarding the entire left side and the pin almost off the left edge of the green, I pushed my 4 iron to the right fringe leaving a double breaking 90 foot putt that ended up 7 feet below the hole and I missed the putt for a bogie and that was all the hole I could ask for. Fair but very difficult. So if your course doesn't have a designated combo on the card, make your own! Yeah, 6700 is pretty much my limit. It's normally not the par 4s and 5s that get me, but long par 3s where I have to hit hybrids or 5w, I'm toast. On 6/9/2021 at 6:58 AM, sirchunksalot said: I mentioned earlier in the Random Thread that today was my first day back at work after summer shutdown and they let us leave early and paid us to do so. I came home, grabbed my bag, and headed out to the course. Played 9 holes and shot a 52. I hit 5/7 fairways, zero greens and had 18 putts. The fairways hit stat is pretty misleading as I couldn't hit a drive over 200 and had lots of weak slices that just happened to not fly far enough to go OB. As bad as driver was, my fairway woods were worse. I topped the daylights out of them, except for one 5 wood that just sailed so beautifully...I think it was an anomaly. My irons were just ok and the only thing I had going for me were my wedges, they were on fire! My putting wasn't up to my usual expectation, the greens were slower than normal and I just couldn't figure them out. Not gonna lie, I'm really frustrated with my game right now. I've worked all winter and spring and just haven't seen results. I hit a few balls afterward on the range and nearly walked off after half a bucket. The best thing to come out of the range session was I figured out my driver. I was getting my hands too high at the top of the backswing and after figuring that out I was striping it. I guess that'll keep me coming back for more. I attempted to take video, and got one good swing. My phone fell down on my second shot. Alf. S 1,102
Well it's a real struggle for me at the moment course condition not really suiting my game. Got beat in my matchplay tie 5 and 4 that's me out of all the matchplay events had 85 net 79 on Saturday's comp. Then got beat in the League match yesterday 5 and 4. We have had very little rain in Scotland over the past 3 weeks and the courses are playing firm and fast. Yesterday we also had a +20mph wind. Getting loads of distance just can't get the ball to stop. 9th 140yds to go hit a small PW bounces on the green twice and disappears onto the railway line. Being 4 down at the 304yd 12th, partner in the fairway, smoked one down wind at green through the back into the penalty area. I must have gone through 10 of the 14 matchplay holes with my approach shots. Another 2 I tried to play short and run in and they ended up short. Chipping is also a struggle off tight lies. In the doldrums at the moment maybe need to try and practise knockdown shots because my high ball flight is totally unpredictable. Playing a couple of links courses next week and entering the ballot for the Old Course so hoping for better play. 8 Quote WIMB Driver Callaway Epic 10.5' Fujikura Stiff 3W Callaway Epic 15' Fujikura Stiff 3-AW Srixon Z565 Nippon Stiff 52', 56' Cleveland RTX 585 Wedges Putter Taylormade Rosa Daytona Bags 2017 Callaway Org14 Cart bag or 2018 Srixon Z start Carry bag
CarlH 8,316
Another 83 yesterday in Round one of the Diamante Classic. Our team came in 3rd in our flight for the round of Better Ball. Didn't pay for the daily payout, but it did pay off for the Player Pool (Calcutta). I had 4 doubles as the wet ground and unfamiliar greens continue to give me some issues. Today's event will be a modified Stableford. Looking for the team to do a bit better. The guys we played with yesterday were on fire and ham and egging it well, shooting a net 63 mainly because the higher handicap player of that team didn't seem to make that many mistakes on the stroke holes. We came in with a net 68 having both of us making a double on one of the holes. Second was a net 65. This is a really nice course, albeit wet from the heavy rains of recent days. Level lies are relatively rare and the greens all have multiple levels and lots of undulations. 9 Quote Driver: Rogue ST Max (10.5* set at N) -- Mitsubishi Tensai Blue 55g R shaft Fairway: Rogue ST Max 3 wood (16.5*)-- Mitishibishi Tensai Blue 55g R shaft Hybrids: M6 3,4, and 5 -- Fujikura Atmos R shaft Irons: Apex CF19 6-9, PW, AW -- KBSTour Graphite 70g shafts R +1/2 inch 3* up Wedges: CBX2 56* and 60* True Temper Dynamic Gold Wedge shaft Putter: Stroke Lab 7S Ball: Maxfli TourX Golf Bag: Pioneer My Photography can be seen at Smugmug

ShaunieBoy652 38
Eastern NC Course Alert!!!! There is an incredible course in Rocky Mount, NC, Belmont GC. Got to play it for the 1st time Sunday, 6/6 and returned 6/8 to get some stink out. Fairways are exceptional and greens very nice (Tifeagle Bermuda). 1st round 4 putted the 1st hole and hit my tee shot OB on #2, those 4 strokes turned a 78 into an 83 :(. Had a couple other, "1st time playing the course" mistakes that I corrected. Tuesday there is "Throwback Tuesday" where the greens fees are much lower, a senior can play for under $30! Drove the ball well, specially in the back 9, Irons were solid, a little long (warmer weather, ball traveling more). Chipping was great after 4-5 holes, getting that feel going, I hit the shots I was trying to hit, so I was happy with that even if they rolled out more than expected and Putting was steady, should have made some putts , but I was happy with the stroke all day. 18th was interesting, as I hit Hybrid of the tee because anything is is too much, trying to keep in the fairway, well I barely got the ball off the ground, it skip from the tee box across the creek and it brushed the tall grass to just run out enough, (of Course this was crucial as I was down 1 at this point in the bets) Some how I snuck in a Birdie and win .. By buddy of course saying that shouldn't count as I barely pass the tee and should have been in the water( good friend I tell you) 8 Quote Driver: TaylorMade Stealth HD - 9.0 with NIPPO N.S. Popular Post fozcycle 15,389
Front nine was okay, birdie on #3 par 4. Back nine was totally bad, shooting a 42/48:90 today. Also learned that July 31st will be the last day that Pebble Creek GC will be open. Looks like we’ll be playing at Plantation Palms in Land O’Lakes. My driving distance will be about the same. Got disgusted and played a Nitro ball from 13 thru 18. Gotta say it does travel. 10 Quote Driver: PXG 0211 w/Evenflo Riptide CB Regular shaft Fairways: PXG 0211 5W & 7W w/ Evenflo Riptide CB regular shaft and Tour Edge E521 9W w/Fubuki HD50 regular shaft Hybrid: Ben Hogan VKTR 3 Hybrid(18*)w/Recoil ES regular shaft Irons: Ben Hogan Ptx 5-PW w/Recoil 660 Regular graphite shafts; soon to be Titleist T300 Wedges: Ben Hogan Tkt-15 (49*/53*/57*) w/Recoil 660 Regular shafts Putter: 33” Evnroll ER2 w/Evnroll Gravity Grip Bag: Vice cart bag(Black).
