Got out back for a quick 9 earlier. Definitely played well, but much room for improvement. I'm shaving my HC pretty good, hoping to get back to scratch this year. The shot scope stats are really helping me improve as well.Screenshot_20240317_134942_ShotScope.jpg.65d35e2d4af35481aa43848ca6a48fcf.jpgScreenshot_20240317_135212_ShotScope.jpg.00e06ddc0c92a20efe97589fe87b4a09.jpgScreenshot_20240317_135222_ShotScope.jpg.8f03a9e8390b1293c076a99efc8af0d5.jpgScreenshot_20240317_135228_ShotScope.jpg.efc9498d87181982a968ded6262fcbf1.jpgScreenshot_20240317_135323_ShotScope.jpg.f18723db3d9412c117267a8ba7a34268.jpg

Played 11 of Gearhart Links last night.  +3, I will gladly take a round like this.  Aside from a 2 iron that went too far and cost me a penalty I played some really good golf.  Second round of the year, and I’m in better form than I had been the last few.  I’m a little slower than I was, but I’m going to start training again.  Averaged around 270 off the tee with the driver with a 303 yarder in there.  The UDI is still a laser Beamer, 272 on one occasion. The wind was a little stout, but overall a great round.  No real “you dummy” shots, only an unfortunate huge hop into a pond that should have been unreachable….

Played the course i’m a member at, Sidcup in SE London, today and did it as a solo 2 ball scramble. Played some really nice shots, and didn’t bother with a second attempt on quite a few of them. Managed to go round in 2 over which I was very pleased with as my course handicap is 17

Got out for a round this morning. Usual Sunday group of me, my father in law, one of his buddies and his son in law. We decided to do a scramble since it’s been a while since we did one. I know my roll on scrambles is hit the ball far and be the vibes guy by after we used a few of my wedge shots I was pretty happy

All the practice, lessons, time at the range or on the chipping/putting green, the drills and obsession; only to play worse than ever, is simply disheartening.
Compounding errors, poor putting and brand new misses... Sometimes it's like I'm playing in someone else's body. Like every movement is foreign and uncomfortable.

Gutted after this morning's round. Taking a week away from the sticks.

I pray you all better fortune out there.

Today's round was sub par. Had some absolutely terrible shots but also some great ones!  I guess that's what keeps us coming back.

Shot 84 today. Had a few drives that were duckhooks and that's not close to the norm. Made scoring tough when you are either taking another tee shot or dropping.

Irons, wedges and putting are still great.

Like I figured, today was a different day than Tuesday. Nothing felt right and it was a grind on almost every hole. It feels being able to look back on a round and know you shot 78 without your best stuff. My driver was all over the map with my shortest at 255 and my longest at 351. It was about 25°-30° cooler than Tuesday and I repeatedly failed to take the cooler temps into account when calculating my yardage.  Also had a 10mph wind, most often in my face, as well compared to 0-5mph on Tuesday. Again, continually failed to adequately account for wind which combined with cooler air temps led to most approach shots being 30’-50’ away from the pin. And that was when I hit the green. Putter also struggled today. Had my first three putt with the Odyssey (twice actually) and speed control was a challenge. Hoping to is again a sign of things to come as I would be ecstatic if my bad rounds this season are in the high 70s. All in all, it was a great day and my first official handicap round for 2024 in the GHIN.

A score of 78 with the shortest drive of 255?!?! I only wish I could be part of such a "grind"! 🤣

I put in a lot of work on my short game for days like these. When my driver is unpredictable I really need my putter to step up. It’s the days when both fail me that I question why I keep playing this game. 😂

Hoping one day soon he will understand why a strong mental game is needed in order to excel. The ability to make pars and limit bogeys when it feels like the wheels are falling off is the key to taking his game to the next level. He’s already at a point where he can beat me. He just doesn’t realize it yet.

Happens to everyone. Even the guys on tour go through periods where their game or an element of the game leaves. Golf is like life. It’s one big roller coaster ride. With all the excitement in both the highs and lows. All we can do is keep our head up and keep grinding. Put all effort in the next shot!

Played 18 on Saturday and shot 102 because I continue to be betrayed by my wedges/short game. I blasted a drive 350 yards, I smoked this ball like never before in my life, an absolute laser that left me 125 to the green on a short par 5. I'm thinking Eagle on this hole so naturally I hit my approach short & to the right, blade my chip over the green and do the exact same thing on the next shot that left me scrambling to get up & down for bogey....after a 350 yard drive. It was that kind of day; I hit a lot of good shots and a lot bad shots.

Long iron play is much improved but it seems to have come at the cost of my short game. I'm taking good lines on my putts but can't seem to get my speed right, I'm blaming that on wonky early season greens.

Took a 5 day break from swinging a club and paid for it today. Spent the first 14 holes or so swinging way to hard. I know at times I can be thick headed and today showed my just how long. 14 holes long. Once I figured out what I was doing holes 15 through18 went par, birdie, par, two put birdie on a par 5.

So Wednesday is another day on the course.

First round of 2024 is in the books and it was not great but it was within my expectations. Shot 47/43 for a 90 with a mere 2 pars, 4 FIR and 3 GIR. All of the pars, FIR and GIR were on the back nine. The 38 putts really killed me today, just could not get myself into a rhythm. Two of those were three putts.

Room for improvement and a fairly clear idea of what needs to be prioritized. Hopefully got the rust knocked off enough that the next round will be better.

Only able to play 9 today, but had my first even par 9 holes ever. I've had one over, but never even. Went into the final par 5 at one under and missed an 8-footer for par. 😕 Still felt fantastic to play so consistently. 6 of 9 GiR, including both long par 3s. Hope I can keep this up!

After a lot of technical swing work into the net in the garage over the last couple weeks, got out to my buddy’s club in Kent, WA yesterday, Meridian Valley. One of my favorite courses to play. Turned out they were punching greens literally then and there. Back nine was closed, so we played the front twice. Started off double-triple, then settled in and played the next nine in +1, before getting sloppy again down the stretch. Gonna take some time to get the new swing feels onto the course, but when it starts clicking I feel some rounds in the 70s a-comin!!!

Been out of the loop lately. Have spent 2 weeks down at Orange Beach AL.  Managed to get out and play 4 rounds. Even after hitting balls into nets earlier in the winter still lots of rust to knock off the old bones. After the 3rd round started to see some decent shots develop. 2 major factors I had to keep in mind. 1. Balls fly shorter at sea level vs 1000ft. Also much harder to score when I only brought down half my clubs due to space. Decisions of easy 7 or hard 9. Hard 7 or easy 5.  Was happy with the performance of the Maxfli Tour balls and my Sub70 004 mallet putter. Back in snow country. Expecting 6-8 inches Fri so that will delay any golf here for 2 weeks.

Oh man, there are some great courses to golf over that way! (About 4 hours from me) there is a fantastic diner too right in downtown as well.  Out dept has conferences there once a year, but never enough time to play a round.  Glad you had a good time

I slipped out for 9 after work on Monday (3/18); it was mid 40s and steady 15 mph winds gusting over 30. I got off the tee fine and putted well, but I never really felt comfortable with full irons or wedges. Which was odd with how solid my ball striking has been so far this year. I honestly considered leaving the course after 3 consecutive mishits on the same hole (par 3), but momma didn't raise a quitter. I scraped around with a 45 on 15 putts, which is my worst 9-hole score at my home course in years.

Golf, like life, has a way of humbling us real quick. Hoping to slip out early on Friday to see if I can get back in the groove of hitting solid iron shots.

I have been a feel player since I picked up the game, but I am thinking it may be time to consider some sort of analysis on my setup, alignment, and ball position. I just don't want to be to dogmatic and take the fun out just going out and hitting the ball, but it is no fun going from flushing it to borderline shanks either.

Made it out to Recreation Park 9 GC which is a 9-hole, Par 31 course. I completed the 9 holes in 01:22:44 which honestly makes sense as I felt in a good body rhythm after a few days on the sideline with back soreness. I shot +8 for a 39. 2/4 fairways hit with the Qi10 Max. No GIR which was disheartening but it was mainly due to pulling my shots often. The greens were rolling slow as they were punched within the last day or two and had 14 putts today which was solid. Overall I am happy, but I know I could have saved a stroke or two. Next time.

Played 18 today at my club, Sidcup, and managed a 13 over par round, which I was pleased with as my course handicap here is 17.
Could have been a lot better as my driving and approach game was worse than usual but my putting was great, which is very unusual for me!
