MaxEntropy
31 minutes ago, TJ Hall said: The course I play frequently did something similar…very tight driving hole (trees on the right right to the fairway and everything slopes down to the creek off the fairway left) that would require a left to right shot (which I don’t have for my driver/3w). They removed all the trees down the right for utility line work which opened up the entire right side (it’s an easy shot from the right now)…changed the entire hole for me. The other hole that was greatly impacted is a dogleg-right par 5 and they created a nice alley to shorten the hole. It looks like they are going to let that alley overgrow and put red stakes to discourage the shortcut. cksurfdude, TJ Hall, Rob Person and 2 others 4 1 Quote Driver: Epic Speed 9* (set -1) MMT 70X 3W: Tour B JGR Recoil 760ES 3H, 4H: Tour B JGR 19*, 23* Recoil 780ES 4-AW: Tour B JGR HF2 Modus3 Tour 105 SW: RTX Zipcore Black Satin 54* LW: TAIII Black 58* Putter: Scottsdale TR Senita Bag: BigMax Dri Active Lite Ball: TP5x or AVX (yellow) Pushcart: BigMax iQ+ Testing Complete, Final Review Posted: Sub70 TAIII Forged Wedges

Not to whine too much but I keep noticing at the nicer golf courses that they do not have ball washers on the course. That's fine if it's a course that provides or makes caddies available, but that's generally not the case. I was also a little shocked to notice there was no water available anywhere on the course; maybe that changes during the hot weather, but not having water available on the course seems like a bit of a safety issue IMHO. I shot a 104 but was let down by my putting with 4 3-putts. I was pretty strong from tee to green (hit 4 GiR) and had a few more chances to get up & down for par that I did not convert. What I'm really struggling with right now is after a big drive and approach shot, is throttling down and adjusting my swing to hit a decent chip; I find myself either trying to baby it and fluffing it way short or trying to come through aggressively and blading it over the green. Despite my poor score I really enjoyed myself yesterday, I hit more good shots than bad ones and I feel my game heading in the right direction. I played at a beautiful course, the weather was perfect, and I was playing with two of my oldest friends, guys I've known since my freshman year of college. Days don't get too much better than that and I'm playing in a tournament on Friday at Renditions. I played there at the end of March and then too had no water on the course. I was surprised too. I play mostly in Baltimore City and Carrol Park, of all the courses, always has water out and since its only 9 holes, is the one that probably needs it the least. The course itself was good fun and a challenge with the wind on the day. Northern Monkey
Had a great round today overall. First nine wasn’t as good as the back nine. The driver wasn’t performing for me today and was 6 over for the front nine but came back at level par so was really pleased. gavinski91
Played from the white tees at the local 9-hole course with just my irons today. Improved in strokes gained (compared to past 10 rounds) on both driving and approach play despite feeling like I wasn’t hitting the ball very well (which is a good indication of how poor my driving has been lately). Cleanest iron shot was my 4 iron off the first tee that somehow found the water 250 yards away. Greens were pinball-machine bad, and putting reflects that. Generally ok with the fact that I was +10 on a 9-hole round where I felt like I played pretty poorly - a good indication that my game is headed in the right direction. JCgolfer
It has been a busy work week but let me say I had a great weekend that just passed. I had a chance to play at a charity golf tournament at Eagle Glen in Corona CA. Good course this is my 2nd time playing. The 1st time I played I was just starting out my golf playing days, this past Friday did great with the foursome we ended at -10. Also I have to gloat that I finally got the wifey out to the course on Sunday and we played with her cousin and husband. She was giving me resistance because she knew it was my thing but I was proud of her and she had a good time. The weather was rough the last 3 holes, rain came down but the ladies stuck it out and we just hit a few just to get through them. The first two pictures are from the golf tournament, 3rd and fourth from Fullerton golf course with the wife., TJ Hall, William P, Rob Person and 6 others 5 1 3 Quote JCgolfer Make small improvements! BigTiny
Had our first night of our 9 hole league on Tuesday night. I joined late, so I am an alternate that plays with anyone missing a partner for the week. The course pro somehow got it in his head that I was amazing or something because he was talking me up before the start of the night. Unfortunately for my partner this week, I played terrible. The only reason I didn’t three putt the last hole was because I chipped in for par. Worst 9 of the year so far. Dweed
Played 9 today. Not real well. Shot 43. Didn't get the driver going until the last 2 holes. Strengthened my grip a bit and that did the trick...maybe. Had some heavy rain last night so a lot of standing water throughout the course. I have a "heavy" hit tendency so wet conditions are not my fav. Did have some really nice mud balls though. Sure could have used some cart path run-outs today. Tom the Golf Nut
Today was a day like none I’ve had in quite a while. I played shots from parts of the course I’ve never been in before. First hole drove it left. Then skulled a pitch over the green, through the tree line and into the 4th fairway. Spectacular recovery. I made a 30 yard hole out for birdie. That was the highlight other than another birdie on hole 8. A couple doubles, bogeys and pars. Course was packed for some reason. Positive was I got to meet and play golf with a fellow spy. @ILMgolfnut. I sure wish the fairways would grow in. It’s all still hard pack which means tight lies. Syks7
Two pretty solid days on the golf course in a row, both with a little bit of bogey + troubles. Balboa yesterday 42/38 80. One very silly double on the front from pin hunting and two silly three putts on the back from trying to get birdies instead of focusing on the lag putt. New record for pars in a round at 11. Not quite as good today at Rustic Canyon w/ @GolfSpy SAM but I had a much better back 9. I was undone by a couple triples and the inability to drop a 5 foot putt for the first 4 holes. Still, 45/42 87 isn't too bad. I hit some very good shots and only a couple truly terrible ones. Hopefully round 3 on Monday at Soule Park goes as well as these two. NubianRugby
Played in a tournament at Renditions today with a couple of dudes I used to play rugby with. Shot five under par and played "Amen corner" at two under in a scramble. The green at "12" is way smaller than it looks on TV. We were two shots off the lead, and came in tied for third. I was also about 15 yards behind the long drive winner, with a nice ~285 blast. I practiced chipping and putting twice this week, and it really paid off on the course. When I was stepping up to chip, I felt confident and had a plan when I approached the ball. It made a huge difference to have spent time on the "boring stuff." cksurfdude
Got out for 9 today but did not play very well... Sliced a few tee shots, which I haven't done in a while, and also pulled one left .. so had to punch out of trouble a few times... Two of those rescue shots ended up being pretty good and put me back into good spots where I could make a shot to the green. Wedges were working ok and putting was mostly pretty good .. except for a 3-putt on the first hole where I pushed the second putt just enough to roll over the edge of the hole... So there are two very small water hazards on the Front 9 of my course .. I mean so small a large family of frogs can't all hop in there at once .. and yep I managed to splash a ball in each of them today! They were both short approaches, too .. and I have been starting to hit my irons better *on the range* .. just didn't hit either of those shots really fully, so yeah I have bit of a confidence / shot commitment problem out on the course... ... work in progress...
