Really good round, and only 25 putts.

I often say that total number of putts can be a deceptive number, but when you are super low like today, you generally are having a good round.

now the front wasn’t like a wow start, but my little chips were really giving me a lot of one putt kick in pars, but then an eagle with 2 birdies on the back really sealed the deal for a good day.

i like it when they move the tee box way up forward on a par 5, where a good drive and a 5 iron put you inside 10 feet

Nice putting, and I agree with you. When I get that low in putts, it's usually because I missed a ton of greens and chipped it close all day.

I'm a nine and I can't shoot 80 with three doubles.  You were beautifully steady on the rest of the track to absorb your nuclear holes.

I have to keep doubles down or match them with birds to shoot or break 80.

We play a hard game.

I had a round in the recent past where I shot 79 with a triple and two doubles; par 71 course.  I had to have luck on my side, though; made three relatively long birdie putts.

Not something I do every day.  😉

Two rounds over the weekend, and a two man No Scotch event as well.  Game showing signs of life, I made a couple stupid mistakes and wound up with a 79 on my 69.0/122 course, which is better than I'd been playing.  The other round was in the low 80s, and played in 20 mph winds.  I'm trying to give myself a bit of a pass for some of the shots that day.  🙂

The No Scotch event was a little odd.  My teammate and I both managed to mess up just enough to turn birdies in to pars.  And, we wound up with an odd bogey, where we both hit tee shots OB, put the ball on the green and made a 40 foot double breaker for a five.  Yeah, go figure.

Been experimenting with a new SpeedZone driver, along with lighter than usual shafts and longer club lengths.  The latter hasn't been working so well, I've managed to prove to myself that 45" will not work for me in the long term.  44.5" is OK, but still dicey.  I do believe I'll be heading back to 44" and possibly less.  Still toying with using sub-70g shafts.

If anyone is interested, I'm moving away from the ProtoPype 80 and RIP Alpha 80 that I'd been using earlier in the year.  The NV105 wood shaft is in a 3w.  I've picked up a HZRDUS Black 62 that will get some play, and also scored a Phenom NL 60 (67g on my scale) that will get some time.  Past couple rounds have been with a ProtoPype 70 that I'd set aside a couple years ago for being too light, LOL.

I still have an NV75 or two lying around that can be assembled, if sub-70g doesn't work.  Or the NV75 in a TM adapter, that I've been using with the Original One.

I'm using All-Fit universal adapters with my new shafts, allowing me to go back and forth between my Cobras and the Original One.  The Phenom NL will get installed in one of these when I get off my backside.  Have extra Cobra weights on the way to make it a little more interesting in making it shorter and hitting my swingweight target.

Blah blah blah   😁

Tuesday morning Par 3 Exec the holes ranged from 110yd to 175yd.

I have a lot of fond memories playing par 3 courses, or the odd par 30 to par 32 executive nine.  My wife and I both got our start on such courses.

We had a par 3 course about 3 miles away, holes ranged from 120 to 185 from white tees, and there were blue tees available for a bit more length.

Wife almost had an ace there on one of the 120 yard holes (110 for her).  Amusingly, she was playing a Titleist Tour Balata that I'd been given.  Hits a 5 iron, the ball bounces once, and gives a crazy spin sideways right at the hole (like it hit a wall to deflect it).  The ball finished above the hole, hanging over the lip.

Fun stuff  🙂

They are fun, this morning was.  As soon as it gets cooler (October thru March/April) my wife will play the Par 3’s.

... I find it kinda like playing basketball and not being able to shoot past the free throw line.  I saw a Tiger stat that was something like being -1,129 on par 5's for his career and +39 on par 3's. The times I have par'ed or birdied all 4 par 5's far outweigh the times I have par'ed or birdied all 4 par 3's. Of course I have never had a HIO and with 9/18 par 3's mocking me all day long, that might have something to do with it.  🤪

Today was all about the putting. No 3 putts. I played 9 with only 14 putts. 2 one putts and 6 two putts. Oh and a chip in for par from 12 feet from the rough. 😃

Nice

I have been playing a little better the past few rounds.  Working on trying to "swing" my irons rather than "hit" them.  For me, it is all about finding some consistency.  The new sticks are amazing, but that is another thread.  Saturday - 79 that could have been 76... I realized I was getting too technical with my putting stroke, and started rolling the ball, rather than thinking about positions and length of stroke... I played Sunday morning and on the front 9 I noticed (in the morning dew on the greens) that my ball was skidding at the start... very clearly represented by the gaps in my ball's path - especially nearest to the putter contact.  Several poor lags combined with putts I should have made...I shot 44 on the front, then after that epiphany shot 37 on the back with a double.  Went back out in the evening for a 9 and I was even through 8 before dead pulling a side-hill 5W into the water hazard.  Ended up with a triple due to a poor chip and two putts.  But still happy with the way I played.  Course is closed on Monday... Hopefully will get a few holes in tonight to keep the momentum.

Played a so so 9 holes yesterday afternoon. I am still trying to recover from my wedding weekend. I really need to work on my misses, but that is nothing new. I have a lesson with my pro on Friday for my longer clubs, my long par 3's are killing me.

Jumped off the back nine last night, hit some really solid irons... thrilled.  39 with a double.  Now if I can just figure out how  not to over-analyze what is working and screw it all up again trying to repeat it...  🙂

Was lucky enough to get a round on my birthday yesterday - beats being in work! Beautiful September day here in England, warm sun, no wind - perfect playing conditions.

Had a lesson last week which highlighted a loose elbow so been working on that and starting to feel comfortable with the change.

Started so well with a 280y 3h on the 1st, bump & run to 10ft but lipped out for a 🐦.

Just went downhill from there and had no lucky breaks at all. Bounces left when it seemed impossible to not go right, odd bounces into bunkers, more lip-outs....hey-ho, onto the next game and, hopefully lady luck will be with me.
