JerryB 933
Played a scramble yesterday with my son and my dad at River Heights. Our fourth backed out due to the possibility of bad weather so we just played an extra ball which actually wound up bailing us out a few times. We wound up shooting a 69 but the highlight was the eagle we got on hole 16. And by "we" I mean my son. He took all the shots and as nervous as he was on the putt, he dropped it dead in the hole. Weather did get a little dicey but we managed to finish the round. Had a blast AND we introduced my dad to a new restaurant afterwards! 8 Quote Titleist 385k driver Dunlop 3 and 5 wood Nickent 3DX 3 hybrid Cobra AMP 5-PW Titleist Vokey SM7 50° 54° and Cleveland 588 56° wedges PIng Anser putter

Popular Post NRJyzr 1,237
My course's Ryder Cup event is complete. And I'm part of the winning team That's the short version. Slightly longer version... My teammate in foursomes and fourball was the buddy who talked me into joining Men's Club. Our hdcps were 9.5 and 10. Our opponents were two gents who are 10.x handicaps. They tried to arrange handicaps such that all matches could be played gross, no hdcp. We won in foursomes 3&2, shooting even par over the 7 holes of our match; one birdie, one bogey. I felt pretty good about our birdie, I hit an 81 yard wedge third shot to 2 feet on the par 5 4th hole. In Fourball, we won 2&1. We won the first two holes (10 & 11) with pars, but lost 12 and 13, the latter by both of us hitting into the water and making triple. Tied 14, but I made birdie on 15 and we both parred the 200+ yard par 3 16th to go two up. All four of us made a complete mess of the par 4 17th, the match ending when all four of us made double bogey. Ugh. In Singles, my opponent and I each took a 1 up lead at some point, only to give it back on the next hole. We were tied thru #7. We both made par on #8, both hit questionable tee shots on #9 (431 yd par 4) leaving us attempting to get up and down from 140 yds (him) or 70 yds (me). He hit to 25 feet past the front pin, I skulled my wedge 20 yds over the green. I was very proud of hitting a pw back, to five feet. He hit to about 2.5 feet. I made my putt and conceded his for a half point. Was briefly compared to Nicklaus for that concession. I'm sure Jack will awake in the middle of the night in a cold sweat, not knowing how grievously he was insulted in Minnesota on the third of October. LOL With 20 man teams, there were 40 pts at stake. We won 23.5 to 16.5. Yay us! Popular Post JerryB 933
Decided to run over to Buena Vista to try to get in nine before weather and/or darkness. Place was pretty much empty and I managed to play nine in less than an hour. I shot a +8 40 including a blow-up quad on hole 9 where I bounced my second shot off the carts and then took FOUR wedge shots to get thirty feet to the green. Didn't hit anything particularly notable but other than that last hole I didn't hit anything badly, either. All in all, probably my best ever round 11 Quote Titleist 385k driver Dunlop 3 and 5 wood Nickent 3DX 3 hybrid Cobra AMP 5-PW Titleist Vokey SM7 50° 54° and Cleveland 588 56° wedges PIng Anser putter

Popular Post cjeffs12 799
I have a brag, this weekend I completed my year long goal of breaking 80!!! Since my swing changes started a year ago I have gone up 6 points. literally on the tee box of hole 1, my pro gave me a quick tip to feel in my swing and it really helped. This weekend my handicap went down a full stroke. On Saturday I ran into a buzz saw match where I shot my best and @crbishopshot his personal best of 75. It was a great weekend for my confidence. Saturday's Round 79 FIR 8/14 GIR 7/18 Putts 29 Shot 38 on the back!! Sunday's Round 83 FIR 8/14 GIR 6/18 Putts 34 My ball striking really improved with the tip pre round Saturday, but I also mentally changed to where I am just trying to get it on the green. Then with my chipping and pitching I was trying to hit it past the hole, and I stopped coming up short. Sunday I wasn't as diligent with these mindsets and it shows in GIR and putts, I went at pins I shouldn't have and missed the greens, and with my chips I was trying to get it close instead of just getting it on and past the hole and came up well short. These were my best two rounds by far, but I still have some things I need to improve. 15 Quote SIM 2 9* FUJIKURA Ventus Blue w/ Velocore 6-X Sim Max 15* Aldila Rogue Silver 70 X-Stiff TS3 18* Hzrdus Smoke Black 70 6.5 ZX Utility 3 20* Nippon GOST S ZX7 4-PW Project X 6.0 Milled Grind 3 54.11 Dynamic Gold TI S200 T20 58 08 Dynamic Gold TI S400 M Craft OMOI 02 34” — PRO V1x 3.5+ Push Cart NX9 with Slope

Popular Post Berg Ryman 5,418
So, played what might have been my last two rounds of the season on Saturday, both at the home course. First round was awful, an 88. I chipped like a baboon who was given a golf club and told to figure it out. Lost a total of 4.5 strokes to my short game against a 5 handicap and left me with doubts of even coming out for the second round where a friend from law school said he and two of his friends were coming to my course to play. I joined them as a fourth. Second round of the day, 80. Beat everyone, gained shots on short game, barely at .7. Golf is stupid and weird and that's why we love it. Couple of personal thoughts on the round. I think I went too large on putter grip with the Mid Slim SS since I was missing a lot of putts on the right side, not letting the toe rotate as needed, think I needed just a bigger pistol so that change is going to happen. Also went away from heads up putting after two three putts to start the morning round, just not working for me right now. Might focus more in the winter on it. Lastly, shot of the day, maybe the shot of my season was in the first round. 17th hole, 203 yard par 3, hit hybrid to 8 inches to a blind pin. An awesome feeling to get up there and see it that tight. 12 Quote In a Hoofer Lite bag ST180, 10.5, Kuro Kage Silver TINI Dual Core 60-S Epic Flash Sub Zero, 15*, Kuro Kage Silver TINI Dual Core 60-S CBX119 18* Hybrid, Project X Evenflow Blue, 6.0 JPX 921 Hot Metal Pro 4-P, Nippon 950GH Stiff Flex Hi Toe Raw 48* (bent from 50*), 53* (bent from 54*), and 58*, Nippon 950GH Stiff Flex SIK Golf Flo-C Pro V1X, 2021 Model, #

Popular Post chisag 17,652
... With Over Seeding started in Phoenix I played a new course today. One of the "inferior" muni's open til Oct 10th. I normally don't keep score playing a course for the first time unless it is a quality track. I think I had 3 birdies and 2 bogies and 1 "other". ... I often wonder how players have doubles and triples without an OB off the tee or hitting in the water and I was reminded how to do it today. I was having my best driving day in quite awhile and hit a big drive through a fairway not knowing it takes a sharp turn near the hole. I was faced with a 70yd shot over a towering tree sitting on the edge of a big pond. The play was a 60yd shot back over the pond and away from the hole, leaving about a 90-100 yd wedge. Since I wasn't keeping score and knew a perfect slightly open LW would probably get me over the tree and I thought WTF, lets see what happens? I just caught the top of the tree and it dropped straight down in the rough and I would have had to stand in the water just to chip it out. I took a drop in deep rough and gouged it out on the green 40 feet from the hole with a severely breaking putt at the bottom of a tier. Got it to 4 feet and missed the putt for a triple. Ahhhhh that's how it's done. ... Knowing the hole I would not hit driver the next time and would take the lake and tree out of play ... but that said had I played away from the hole and back into the fairway I would have had a decent chance at par because I would never have flown over the tier. Worst case scenario was a bogie and I can live with that after a mistake off the tee. I go back to the Annika rule and if I am not absolutely sure I can hit the shot 80% of the time, I am not going to attempt it. 13 Quote Driver: SIM2 Max 10.5* ... Haro 522
Yes Golf is stupid and weird! Though I finish off the season with one last game and play like crap. I wasnt really into it, however made one outstanding sand saves that almost hole out that made me come back. Didnt want to end the season with one of my worst scoring day , play yesterday playing great was -2 after 6 hole. Driver was great, wedge play was great , putting so-so but not awful, iron was good. Then I snap hook a driver on next hole . My only really terrible miss shot all day as I lost the ball. Ended up 6 over . Lost ball and not so good green reading on the tricky green later in the round. Also I need to stay positive after a lost ball and not let it ruin my next few holes. Now I thinking of how I could not snap hook that one driver shot that make me want to play one more time before i hang it up this season Golf is stupid and weird. And still addictive , cant seem to put away my clubs yet Edited October 6, 2021 by Haro
Grand Stranded 2,875
Today was a very good day. I thought I could feel my game coming back around recently, and today confirmed it. I played in my Tuesday Members league, and with the exception of a couple of bad breaks, and some sloppy wedge play around the green, I couldn’t be happier. I shot 38-39-77 on our par 71 Fazio course. My driver was good (other than two miscues)and my irons were terrific, to the point where I never took the cover off my 3 or 5 woods. My irons were better than they’ve been all year, by the time we came to the last 4-5 holes my confidence was soaring. It felt so nice to play golf, not golf swing… just pick a club, look at the target, and let it go. That sounds so simple, but when you’re struggling, point and shoot isn’t your first thought, worrying where the ball will go is. I’m waiting on a set of PXG irons I ordered last week, but the Rogue X were so good today, I had to fight myself not to call and cancel the order. Every time I want to replace them, they come out of the corner fighting tooth and nail to stay in the bag. I’m going to sleep on this tonight and make my decision tomorrow. When I’m hitting them well, I can’t imagine getting more out of a set. They just fit me very well. On the other side of the coin, I threw away 4 or 5 stokes from within 20 yards of the green with my short game. That’s something that has to get better, and now that the oppressive summer heat has eased up, I’ll be willing to work on it at our short game area. I’m not going to stress over it tonight though… I’m going to just enjoy the things I did well. 9 Quote G425 Max 10* Distanza 2018 Rogue 15* Quaranta Rogue ST Max 18* 20* & 23* Cypher Halo Launcher XL 6-DW Cypher CBX 54* & 58* DG 115 White Hot OG Double Wide 34” Elixir Yellow round things 2.5+ 14 way stand bag
Popular Post GolfSpy_BOS 15,236
Had a great time playing Saturday in a scramble with @StrokerAce and a few college buddies I hadn’t seen in a year. We had a lot of fun and ended up shooting -12 (tied for 3rd with 5 other teams). The tournament was played from the white tees, and my team was solid in hitting fairways so I got to play the Bryson role and go for some greens. Drove 2 greens, we converted the eagle on one of them. On this one I had the length for the green but I ended up just through the fringe into the rough on the right side. Not a driven green here, but I smashed a drive on the longest hole and Jason nearly got us on the green in 2 with a 3wood bomb. I hit the pitch to about a foot and we tapped in for birdie! Overall we had a great time and it was really fun to try to attack the course like I did off the tee. Makes me wonder why I don’t try it more often… but so many of those shots would be lost if they just moved a little to much to the left or right. But it was fun being Bryson for the day… even if it was from the white tees! 10 Quote Epic Max LS 10.5 - Motore X F3 6x | Speedzone 5-wood - Ventus Blue 8s | TSi3 20* Hybrid - KBS Proto 85s KING Forged Tec 5-GW - Nippon Modus 120x | KING MIM Black 52.12C, 56.10V, 60.04W - Nippon Modus 125 Wedge ER2B | Pro V1x | NX9 Slope
Popular Post Tom the Golf Nut 7,761
Don't you just hate it when you play in a charity scramble and the team that wins bought the win. I'm all about the charity and paying a large fee for a team to play. But when they add in the other crap it takes away from the game. As an example for $250.00 you can buy a hole in one on a par five. On another hole for $250.00 you can drop next to the green on a par five. So this team with cash to burn wins at 22 under and only one was a decent golfer and two were drunk before they even teed off. My team was pretty stout and finished at 16 under with no gimics. We wound up in 8th place out of 36 teams. Ok they raised a boat load of money and I get it but you still need to play the course in my opinion. There are plenty of ways to make money. Like pay $10 to hit a circle on a green around the flag to double your money or win a sleeve of balls. Miss it and you get nothing. That's $1440 there then take out the paybacks. More people are willing to shell out $10 than $250. I want to play the course and try to play well. I want to feel like I earned a win not purchased one. Just something that I had to get off my chest. 3 8 Quote Driver, TSi1 10* Stiff Flex 3 Wood, SLDR HL 17* R Flex 5 Wood, SLDR 19* R Flex 7 Wood, F6 22.5* R Flex 939x 5 hybrid Irons, 699 Pro's S Flex (6 - AW) JB Wedge 56* Wedge, CBX 60* Putter, Marksman Fang 35"

Was undecided what club to use very flat green Took out a 5 iron and tried to chip and misjudge length and spot. was 25 feet short. 2nd miss 7 In the sand Buried lie and long bunker shot Tried “chunk and run” got to much ball and not enough sand It sail 40 feet past the hole 3rd miss My technical was not to good in the sand I have two type of sand shots that I play and was in between techniques 8 Way short of the green 47 yards This is awkward yardage to a front pin The mistake was off the tee I could play a lob and roll or 1/2 swing high pitch Went with lob and run and Ball didn’t roll out and was still 10 yards short It had rained earlier and didn’t roll out as much as I though in drier conditions The grass was short enough but should have walked closer to the green to check it out Also if this was 47 yards to back pin I think Lob and run is the obvious choice as landed on the green and run out is more predictable than bouncing the ball just in front of the green where the spots are not as flat 4th miss 9 Ball in the front bunker 60 yards to pin water directly behind the green This was the most scary shot but I pulled it off a nice high LW ( had a good lie) Lots of spin ball dropped within 6 feet and stopped I am generally better at “floater” type bunker shots that drop dead Can’t seem to master the ones that roll out With “floater” I take little sand For the “chunk and run” can not figure how to adjust how much sand and how hard to hit 10 Didn’t want to count this one but just off the green 40 feet could have used putter decide on hybrid and roll it to 3 feet Edited October 6, 2021 by Haro
