Popular Post cnosil 24,438
Nice day for golf but mediocre results. 40/43:83 Iron striking and wedge/short game play were all pretty good; putting could use some work and I hit some really bad tee shots. Gong to spend some time this week assessing my putting and the putter I have in the bag. During my post round assessment I realized I need to work on my mental side as I seem to be losing focus during the round and just going through a semi focused routine. Need to evaluate my pre shot approach to help maintain focus for 18 holes; based on DECADE teachings this is a difficult thing to do. Also wondering if it is a food related thing as I play though my normal lunch time but only consume water during a round. 13 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: TS3 15* set to 16.5* w/Project X Hzardous Smoke Hybrids: 816H1 19* set at 18* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 5-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54-10S 588 58-12 Putter: Directed Force 2.1 Backups: 6330, TM-180, Milled Collection RSX 2, Bellum Winmore 787, mFGP2 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017
NRJyzr 1,237
Forgot to add.... Yesterday's round, I also put my Tour Edge E8 Beta strong 3w in play, in the 3w slot. It's 12* spec, but I believe it's actually closer to 13* (based on my completely scientific exam with a protractor, LOL). I cut it down to 42.5". Has a Rogue Silver 70 in it. Had a few occasions to hit it, including a shot from 235-240 off the deck into a stiff wind. Not sure I have any business hitting such a club off the deck any longer, but it worked pretty well. I got caught up in the rough, my shot would have reached the green if I could have kept it in the fairway/apron leading up to it. Gave me a brief feeling of ruggedness about my game. Crazy how fast you acclimate to your surroundings Rick. 50* and sunny in March back in Chicago I would certainly be playing, although 50* was my cold limit. But after 105-115* temps all summer here in Phoenix my blood has already thinned and 60* is my limit, although unless I am playing with out of town friends for a visit, I am not playing unless it is above 65* with sunshine! 5 Quote Driver: SIM2 Max 10.5* ... Popular Post vandyland 406
Had an excellent Halloween Sunday playing at an Arnold Palmer course (par 70) I had never seen before but has been putting in a lot of rehab work and was in great shape. Truly a tale of two 9s but the back 9 was easily the best scoring 9 holes I have ever played. I had just put my Seemore FGP back in the bag and was just going out to put a good stroke on the ball (I have been practicing putting on my Blast Motion most nights for the last week). Other than the 7 I posted on number 3 (hit my first drive OB and my re-teed second drive (3rd shot) into the face of a fairway bunker, the whole day went rather smoothly. I think this might be my ceiling for how well I can play and it has me buzzing (for now...)!

Quite a sight... would have laughed, but face movements hurt from the hair being pulled. Then I got old(er) and I don't do that anymore... unless I have a heater inside the covered cart!! 5 2 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
Haro 530
Driving has been too loose , Snap hook 4/9 drives from the tees last time out. I not sure what Im doing wrong My set up seems to be the same, The rest of the 5/9 drives were beautiful high deep fades. Tee is always same height. I have an open stance and for whatever reason my hands turn over unpredictable The first two snaps I could find in open fairway with few tress left side but the last two was way over the other fairway that I had to scramble to get back and other was OB . I got afraid of driver later in the round and had used another club to tee off. This happens. Seem like I snap hook at least once every. round . with average 1/4 times with the driver , the rest goes straight or slightly right . Got some tips now that I will try . One is to lower the tee height to be more consistent( I tend to tee up really high above way above the crown as I like to hit up , but I dont need to tee it that high) . two is to extend my arms and check if the clubface slightly open or shut I have unknowingly thinking my driver face is open but when I extend arms I see that driver face is actually shut. When i swing My left shoulder /shoulder blade moves more forward than up , not sure which chicken /egg my left shoulder lunges or my grip clubface to shut . probably a combo I never really feel comfortable with holes that have treeline fairway that has severe dogleg right to left at around 200-250 yards I feel like that sets up for snap hook even when I try not to
Popular Post MaxEntropy 8,186
It was 40 degrees and breezy when we teed off for our final league night of the year. A few snow flurries along the way, but we were dressed for it. Played bogey golf for the 9 holes, nothing too awful and nothing too great, but considering how many layers I had on, I felt like the little brother in A Christmas Story. No one else was on the course so when we finished 9, we were going to play 10 then 18 and be done. I hit a nice drive on 10 but pulled it a bit and had tree trouble. Punched a 9 iron that ended up about 15 feet past the hole and buried the birdie putt. Decided right then to quit while I was ahead. It's nice to finish the season on a high note. 13 Quote Driver: Epic Speed 9* (set -1) Mitsubishi MMT 70X 3W: Tour B JGR 15* Recoil 460ES 3H, 4H: Tour B JGR 19*, 23* Recoil 780ES 4-AW: Tour B JGR HF2 Modus3 Tour 105 SW: Zipcore Black Satin 54* LW: Zipcore Black Satin 58* Putter: Stroke Lab Marxman Bag: BigMax Dri Active Lite Ball: TP5x Pix Pushcart: BigMax iQ+ 2021 Test - Callaway Epic Speed

Happens to old people because we don't rotate enough or at the same speed as when we are warm and not stiff; the arms take over and... hook!! Popular Post Kenny B 32,505
Started out at 44º and I don't think it made it to 50º. Shot 42(+5) after a triple on the 1st hole... but I got up and down for that triple from the bunker on the 4th hole!!! Don't ask!! Birdied the par 5 #6 hole with a good drive; nice 4W and SW to 10 feet. Shot 37(+2) on the back nine with a birdie on my nemesis hole #18 par 5. Good drive to middle of the fairway at the dogleg; 5i layup to middle of fairway; and SW to 6 feet. The key for me on this hole is driving the ball far enough that I have a shot around the corner of the dogleg; don't... and I bring all kinds of trouble into play. Decent round of 79. Played with my wife and her brother from Seattle. 12 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
Popular Post mikeanthony 1,443
Got out and played the Ocean Course at Kiawah for the first time yesterday … what an incredible experience. Got on the tee sheet as a solo and was lucky enough to be paired with 3 other really good dudes, great golfers and just good company. My goal was to break 90 from the Dye tees at 6400 yards and 139 rating … shot 88 with a birdie and a triple as my best and worst scoring holes. As happy as I am about that score, I’m even more amazed that I didn’t top my 3W at the first tee … for I somehow managed to pipe it right down the middle! Can’t remember a time being more nervous on the first tee. If you’re ever out there, I highly recommend that you request Will Strickland as your caddie. Fantastic dude with 15 years experience at the Ocean Course. Just simply could not have been a better experience. And I really wish I had an endless bucket of money in the discretionary expenses category for I’d be playing courses with caddie programs and walking at every chance I could get. 9 3 Quote Driver: G410 SFT 10.5* 3W: Speedzone 14.5* Hybrid: TS2 19* & 21* Irons: G425 (5-PW) Wedges: Glide 3.0 50* Vokey SM7 54* & 58* Putter: Heppler Anser 2 Ball: Pro V1 & MTB-Black

Funny you mention that, for I was planning on playing the Kiawah tees … but the wind was very light yesterday morning, and only picked up slightly on the back. Along with that, my caddie saw my shots and distance on the range and challenged me to play the Dye tees. Two single digit handicappers played the Ocean tees at 6700, and 1 other gentleman played from the Kiawah tees. My looper told me that he caddied for Ben Curtis during a practice round once … he shot 70 while hitting just 6 GIRs.
