Submitted my specs yesterday, and so my DF3 should be headed to production soon. A couple emails with Calvin, our L.A.B. fitter confirmed that the specs I was targeting (with their decision on lie angle) were going to be just right.

• Hand: Right
• Putting Style: Counterbalanced
• Head Weight: Heavier
• Shaft: L.A.B. Golf x TPT Shaft Long
• Shaft length: 37"
• Lie angle: 69°
• Putter color: Red
• Alignment: if possible, I'd love to have selection I (capital i) with the tiny single line on the back flange, as in the attached picture. If that is not possible, selection I would be fantastic.
• Grip: Garsen Quad Tour 17"
• Headcover: Stock

For now, as I wait, it's back to the Edel and Evnroll for data collection!

The toe of your putter was a little bit in the air so going with 67° will help you keep that flat on the ground. Now that I have received my fitting results,  Like @GolfSpy MPR, I also submitted my build request to L.A.B.  With all the various combinations possible, it made my head spin.

So what did I ultimately decide on?

    

Ultimately blue won out over red.  35.5" long and 69* lie as recommended. I went with the heavier head as that is what I prefer.  I opted for the TPT shaft over the Stability. Both are great putter shafts, but I relied on L.A.B.'s advice and testing of the respective shafts offered.  For alignment, I made use of the wizardry and advice of @jbern and asked L.A.B. to combine their pointer arrow (EE) with their T line (C).  See below.  I am very excited and honored to have the privilege of being able to test the L.A.B. DF3 putter and share my results, comments and insights with you.  I also want to offer a special thanks to L.A.B. for all their help and support.  They were a pleasure to deal with and made the whole process simple and easy. 

  

  And now the waiting begins.

Looks absolutely great.  I like your alignment mark.  Simple, elegant and functional.  Nice choice with the Garson quad tour grip.  Your ExPutt system is going to get a work out.  Well done.

Very interesting alignment marking. I like how it really focuses your eyes on a very specific point.

1. I had no idea they offered a counterbalanced version. very cool. is the intent to choke down 3-4 inches?

2. I thought you had to get one of their grips. what led you to the Garsen?

Great questions. 

1. Yes, through experience, I know that I'm a 34" putter guy. So that will be where I place my hands on this. 

2. The L.A.B. Press grips are only for their standard length putters and actually aren't even an option on the counterbalanced versions: 

I've been using a Garsen Quad Tour on my Edel for a while now and really like the shape, so I opted for that one over the SuperStroke.

Pretty close to the static fitting that I got in the fall of '22! Below is the video I submitted for the fitting!

 

I replied to LAB with several questions. I wanted more information on counterbalancing (especially after the MGS main site article on the topic), alignment aid guidance, head weight guidance, and loft/lie guidance.

Welp - it seems like I've been using the wrong putter all along.  Due to my height (6'4"), Calvin at L.A.B. asked me to re-shoot my fitting video with a different (longer) putter - I currently use a 34" and its really the only putter length I've EVER used (go figure ).

Given all my putters are 34", I had to improvise and awkwardly ask an associate at my local Golf Galaxy to assist (putter in video was a 35.25" Bettinardi) - lets hope this one is a bit easier to get my measurements!

I couldn't go with the pink as my wife really liked it, which means honey can I "borrow" your putter, only to have it go into her bag and never be seen again.  It's happened before. Couldn't risk that.  Would pink stand out - Absolutely  Would I be razzed mercilessly by my golfing buddies -  Absolutely and without a doubt, until I start sinking putt after putt.  Could I risk losing the putter to my wife - Heck No.  So purdy blue it is.

Once we found it we could combine alignment marks, the design firm of @jbern Inc. went into overdrive and started creating mock-ups for us to view prior to ordering.  I've always like the T line (simple, elegant and functional) but I kept getting drawn back to the uniqueness of the arrow/ pointer.  When you combine the two, your eyes do really focus on one spot.  Hat's off to L.A.B. for allowing you to be creative.

... and the hits just keep coming! Have been messing with my Golf Pad tracking app, finally figured out how to mark the pin.... so now I should be getting some better data! Apparently a trick that I wasn't aware of that now I am! Will be able to test it tomorrow night during League Play! This is panning out AWESOME!!!

I love the combo alignment aid. The arrow with the T is a fantastic choice!

Some good news: walked a quick nine with my son this morning and (as I suggested previously) to an old wifi-only iPhone 6 with me to run Arccos.

You iPhone people don't understand how much better your version of Arccos is than the Android version. Everything just worked. I was able to place pins and set putt distances without any issue at all. In addition, having the GPS data on the iPhone lockscreen was a really nice feature.

I used the hotspot feature on my Pixel 7 Pro to tether the iPhone, so Arccos on iPhone thinks it's online. Kept the iPhone in my pocket and the Pixel in my Clicgear.

Also had a very respectable round putting with the Edel this morning: Arccos had me at SG:0.0 vs. a scratch golfer, which I'll always be happy with. Had an uphill 45+ footer on the final hole that I lagged to about three inches, which felt very satisfying. Fifteen total putts, no 3 putts.
