dru_
Alright, now that I have month of solid play with the MG Golf C4 balls, I feel like I have a good feel for the balls. The Good * Distance and Driver feel very comparable to the Titleist Pro-V1x, Srixon Z-Star or Bridgestone B330x. * Middle irons impart reasonable spin, and the carry distances are competitive to the 'pro' level balls. * Short wedges impart good spin and control. * Good, to great control within 50 yards. * Excellent Price The Bad * The covers are scuff prone * The white shell is a very unremarkable white, can be very difficult to track in the air in some conditions (most IMO) * The oversize logo is a little distracting. The Conclusion If your ego and pride doesn't need the more recognizable names and you eye site will allow you to play a ball that can be difficult to track visually, then look no further. The C4 is a very good ball available at a very good price, though it is internet only. However, if large logo's bother you, or a traditional white ball is tough for you to see, there may be better options. The Srixon and Bridgestone's both come in Yellow/Orange that is far easier to see, and MG Gold does not appear to have any plans to deploy additional colors. Given those last two, I am quite happy with the performance of these balls, and will continue to use them, but I do wish for better visibility. BK in TEXAS
Good review. Hey you can use rit dye to color golf balls if you were so inclined. Heat 1 cup water to around 200Ëš, add 1 tsp rit powder. The light ball was in the water for 15 seconds, darker ones for a minute. You won't get the fluorescent color like OEMs, but it does add color. BK in TEXAS
Never thought of doing that. No affect on the ball? Not that I can tell. The stain doesn't go very deep, when the ball starts scuffing you see white again. Speaking of the OEM colors - have you noticed that Callaways yellow looks like they were RIT dyed?
RookieBlue7
I still use these from time to time and especially in winter, just like in my original review thread. I want to give this a try and dont know whether I should get yellow (golden or lemon) or orange (sunshine or tangerine) - I am wanting to dye some provs like the darker ball on the right for a pal of mine! JIMSLITA
Ok great - yes I don't need neon, just something very yellow - so I guess that I'll try the Golden Yellow color. Thanks
L.I. Rich
I used these and the TP5 all last season. Very comparable balls. I reloaded with the recently discounted Wilson Tours, so won't be playing these for a while, but I'm sure I will in the future. I love their gloves.
In my bag: Ping G LS Tec 9* Tour 65 Stiff, Cobra F8 3-4 wood HZRDUS Yellow 6.0, Calloway 21* X Forged Utility iron (steel stiff), Ping G30 white dot 4-9 Stiff 110 gm KBS tours Scor 48,52,56,60 Wedges, Nike Method Core MC3
