CCorley99
I am wanting to put a few different balls to the test. I am currently playing with Titleist Pro V1x, but I could see myself switching soon if I could find a better fit. I am thinking about conducting a test myself between the Pro V1x, Taylormade TP5x, and the Callaway Chrome Tour X. I'm also considering Srixon Z-Star XV and Callaway Chrome Soft X. Before going any further, I'd like to hear some feedback from the forum on the balls listed above. Pros/cons other people have found by using them. Things I am looking for are spin control, consistent ball flight, and forgiveness. I want to try them side by side to see what fits my game the best. GolfSpy_APH
I have always loved the feel of the TP5 series, but not always the performance. The new Chrome Tour had been stupid good for me and is close to a go-to ball. Hard to say much else other than great things about the ProV1 family. There is a reason they are as good as they are and played by so many. Srixon used to be my gamer and would happily still use their golf balls any day of the week. That all said, I still use my Vice Pro Plus and am very happy with them. They give me the performance I want and need as well as pricing that is hard to beat. Bridgestone is another brand that offers premium golf balls, which don't seem to get quite as much run as they should. GolfSpy_BNG
Not on your list but I’m in love with the Wilson Staff Model ball. Feels soft off the putter like the chrome soft did for me but better for me off every club. Playing the regular model and my only complaint would be maybe a touch more spin from irons but I’m playing Cobra Forged Tec at the moment. Rob Person
Have you followed up on any of the 2024 ball tests on the forum? The Callaway and Taylormade balls were both tested out thoroughly and have some interesting feedback! Maxfli as well. And I agree you may want to look into the Bridgestone balls as well. DCXMIKE
I've been really impressed with the Maxfli particularly at the price point. I tried a number of the premium brands, but have trouble paying the full freight on ANY of the tier one balls. When I can save $20 a dozen with no discernable loss of performance for this 60+ year old 11 handicapper, I'm playing a lot of the wanna be balls (Maxfli, Vice). arodrig29, AZ-Thai Golfer, DCXMIKE and 3 others 6 Quote Callaway Mavrik Irons, Mizuno Hybrids, Mizuno ST200 Driver, Mizuno Wedges, Odyssey 10 Putter

GolfSpy_KFT
The feel of the 2024 TP5x, in addition to improved performance over the prior iteration, is a big plus for me. I've been playing a couple sleeves of the prototypes this year and have really liked them. V1x is always going to be really good and really consistent ball to ball. One thing to note with the TP5x is that it is a bit of an outlier in that "x" category ball in that it is actually lower spinning than the TP5. So if you're looking for a ball with a bit more spin on long irons, you'll maybe want to give that one a run in it's place. Maxfli Tour series are really, really good as some others have mentioned, and the price is nearly impossible to beat for the performance. I've got a bunch of the X to play this season. arodrig29
Yeah, I am going to be reading a bunch in this thread. I can’t remember where I saw it recently, but I was reminded that the golf ball is the only constant in every Golf stroke. Needless to say, it’s pretty important. I am currently playing the Bridgestone BRX ball and love it. That being said, I would really like to get my hands on the new TP-5 and Chrome Tour ball. I don’t like a ball with too high of compression. So if I can find a ball that spins enough around the green, is long off the tee, and feels great to putt, I am a buyer! CCorley99
Thank all of y'all for the quick responses and input! I will definitely take in all of the considerations as I explore which ball is best for me! I'm thinking about doing a season long comparison between balls. Maybe in the form of a head to head bracket between 2 balls every round until only 1 ball remains. Test the balls in a few different ways like one ball for the front and a different ball for the back, take 2 shots from different locations to have a direct comparison throughout the round, and any other way I see fit. I'll post updates to this topic as I complete rounds and tests. I will get to work on making a bracket with balls I listed and other balls mentioned from you all! Rob Person 1 Quote Caleb C.
