The round felt rather boring but I made a lot of 5-6 foot putts for par to keep things going. Just couldn't quite get my irons figured out. 

As someone who has too many adventurous rounds due to a lack of skill, I find the boring rounds to be the most satisfying.

Quite literally the best round of my life. Probably should've been closer to an 85, but hit some miracle putts and a couple balls were a few feet from being OB but managed to stay in. Played the same ball the entire round. 

Craziest part was I wasn't even supposed to play today — the weather forecast looked crummy, but cleared up for a few hours. I was hoping to get in 9 holes but managed to finish while dealing with some rain.

100% chance I shoot a 95 on Friday. 

Way to go (even though you're in my flight)! Feel you 100% on the up and down nature of a low round followed by a high one.

Definitely no complaints. Only missed one fairway all day but even that approach shot hit the green. It was a good day.

Second round back after two desert courses in Las Vegas.  It took some time, but I think I've become accustomed to the slower aerated green and playing at sea level (well, 10 ft.).

My fairways hit was a bit lower today at 64%, but the misses were just off the fairway and on the correct side so I could access the hole for my second shot.  My Greens in regulation was my normal 11%, but I was often just off the green on several of my approach shots (as you can see with the 6 up and downs for par).  

Again, my putting was just a little off.  Some of it was technique and some just very rough putting surfaces.  It's been three weeks since they aerated, and I'm concerned how the greens are going to hold up over the summer.  On one hand, being aerated they are receptive to incoming approach shots.  On the other hand, the Las Vegas fairways were smoother than our putting surfaces.  

All in all, I've scoring a little better today.  The 39 on the back gives me hope for Saturday!

Great day after having the shanks the last time I played. Putting was off today, which makes me have hope for the way my game is trending. Tossed a mallet putter into the bag for this round instead of my Scotty and I wish I would have had the trusty Scotty... All in the name of testing to see if I should get the DF3

The first part of my round could be summed up this way...I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok. Tree trouble on numbers 2, 4, 7, and 9. The back half was like I hit the reset button and all was good with the world. I even got a birdie putt to drop! Yippie me! Finally one dropped and I didn't go from a birdie chance to a bogey in the blink of an eye. A tad better than the 102 I posted on Tuesday but still not near the top. That's going to be tough to beat. Go RajMahal!

Front 9 putting was pretty brutal as the greens were very quick and it took me awhile to get settled in. Back 9 played significantly better!

@Bubba1985, don't be surprised if you break 80 again in the not-too-distant future.  Once you demonstrated to yourself that it's possible, all of a sudden it doesn't seem improbable.  Having broken through what at times seems like an impossible barrier becomes liberating.  The anxiety that some people get when they approach breaking through a scoring barrier is now diminished making it easier to do it again (because you done it already).

Played a quick nine after work Wednesday and shot my best nine hole score of the year with a 38 (+2). Birdied the 1st hole, but finished with 3 bogeys on the last four holes...

Struggled to get comfortable out of the gate but got adjusted around hole 6 after making a great par save from the bushes. Wind was blowing steady at 15-20 mph all day so those slight misses got much bigger quickly. Any shots hit high just died. Had a 5 iron go 145 yards and I hit it solid, lol.

Signs at the entrance had me giddy as a school girls to start my day

Not a lot of room for error on the coast line holes. This was #7 playing 135 yards

Solidly struck 7-iron went 125 yards and the wind took it a little right to add insult to injury.

Tee shot rolled back off the front of the green and landed here. The sand from the dunes in the region is very small grain and can be dense. Balls have a tendency to stop once they enter rather than roll. Had to take an unplayable lie for a double bogey. This was the end of my struggles and finished +2 the rest of the way.

Hole 16 isn't for the faint of heart. Prominent winds typically blow from the North making the green reachable, in theory, while playing slightly over 300 yards. The fairway is pocked with pot bunkers all around starting 50 yards from the green and the green isn't very large. I chose to play smart with a 3 iron and narrowly missed a pot bunker and bounced back off the lip leaving me 50 yards to the pin.

A well placed wedge left me with an easy birdie. Still can't believe I birdied 16. That made my whole day. Scores and pics from Trails coming later.

A longer course for sure .... and wasn't in great condition after being punched last month. some of the greens just had massive sand spots ... like putting in a bunker

Best ball striking day in some time!  One birdie, one bogey missed by one shooting my age - missed a birdie putt of about 8 ft that would have done it but misread the break.

It was a slow start to my round at Trails. After walking Bandon Dunes and then sitting for an hour for lunch, it was clear my body doesn't recover at 51 like it did at 21. First 5 holes were a calamity of errors and somehow lucked my way into a sand save par on 2. After starting 6 over for the first 7 holes, I got my groove back on 8 and nearly drove the green on a 320 yard par 4. After getting my groove back, I birdied 9 after blasting out of a fairway bunker from 245 yards and then another fairway bunker from 90 yards. Making the 12 footer for birdie totally turned my game around and I managed a string of pars with only two more bogeys and a birdie on 14.

So many holes had multiple fairway bunkers like this in the middle of the fairway. Choosing your distance off the tee was always critical.

Wildlife was abundant during the round.

Just missed out on a good pic of a doe and her two fawns. 

Making birdie here got my mental game back on track.Again with the wildlife.

200 yard par three. This course was tough. I tried to hit a shot short in hope it would bounce up and on. It only bounced up and stopped on the fringe. Still led to a routine par so no complaints.

You read a lot about hole 14 at Trails. The hole plays 280 to the front of the green and 320 to go long. Any shot hit middle of the fairway will feed right into the shadowy area. Any shot hit right of the green can roll into trouble. Most play well short and hit a wedge in. I went for the bold play and took a 4-wood, with a firm breeze at my back, and ended up pin high just left of the green. Easy chip and 5 footer for birdie. Will remember this one for a long time.

530 yard uphill par 5 playing dead into a 15 mph wind. Solid drive and 3 iron left me with 95 yards. Felt good getting par here.

Sunsets on the coast just hit different. So many great memories made yesterday.

Got in a round with my college buddy at his home course. Had everything grooving and only a handful of poor shots. One led to a double bogey but otherwise it was two bogey and two birdies.
