One over par on the front 9 …started with a bogey then went on a streak of 9 straight pars. Then a 3 putt bogey on 11, a 3 putt double on 12, a water ball double on 13.  One birdie on the par 3 17th. Putted well on the front.

This is a real cool track from the same architect that designed Bandon Dunes. Kind of a blend of high mountain golf with a links feel. Lots of pot bunkers and demanding tee shots. Placement is key over power and distance. Although since I played from the tips, distance was still critical. 

450 yard par 4 with a narrow fairway and no wiggle room off the tee. A little think here and you’re sunk. Easy peasy driver and 7-iron to 10 feet for a routine par. My dad didn’t fair as well here. 

Really cool par 5 on the back 9 with a demanding shots from tee to green. Only two holes on the course where water came into play. 

Its not the Ghost Tree but it still has the Old McDonald vibe.

Played a round late this afternoon after spending some time beforehand on the range this morning. Seemed to be better for me as I got my tempo and timing back to where it belongs.

Had 41 / 41 for an 82 with 9 of 14 fairways hit, and 13 of 18 GIR.

It was a cooler and windy day here, and at times club selection was challenging because of the 25 - 30 mph winds.

Course was packed, picture below shows 3 groups on the par 5 3rd hole, I was walking and waiting behind the group of 3 playing the forward tees.

I played blue tees, just to keep pace of play moving for myself without too many delays.

I put a new (to me) Paradym driver in the bag today. I think I’m going to like it a lot. I fiddled with the settings several times on the course (no penalty strokes added) mainly adjusting the loft. I got a 12° driver and played all of the four selectable lofts. I will likely play it in 11° or might swap it for a 10.5° because I got it a 2nd Swing. 30 days to change. 

(Sorry for the bits of shingle in the photo. It was a rough week here.) 

I missed just 2 fairways with it and both times I was expecting the loft adjustments to affect the draw or fade of the club like Ping and Taylormade drivers, but it did not. I therefore hit the ball exactly where I was aiming which was not the fairway. Distance? No single drive was significantly longer than normal, but at the end of the day, the average was longer. This is the first Callaway driver I have played since 2016. 

My driving was pretty good today, but there was a 10-15 minute wait between all the shots and I sorta lost interest in the middle of the round. We were playing as fivesomes and sixsomes (usually not allowed on the weekend) and still waited on a twosome.

After last week, my approach play came back to earth by just missing a few greens I hit last week. Driving was much better with just 2 drives that really left me with tough shots, one was a punch out while the other I was able to get it up and over the trees. Putting was on fire, made three birdies of 8, two putt on a par 5, and 18 foot putts. While I had a couple of long par saves on the front of 10+ feet. Was a great morning.
