Drove the ball MUCH better today than my "norm" - still a few weird and wacky (aka "bad") tee shots, but the good ones were long, straight, and effortless - I'm back in the Otto Phlex (EvenFlow Riptide CB A flex) - if I remember to swing smooth and feel the tempo, it's incredible.

Toughest thing about the round was re-acclimating to greens that aren't rolling at 11+, as they were in Virginia - it was like putting on deep-pile carpet, lol.  I left at least 3 one-to-two rolls short, and another two that missed low because of speed.  That being said, it was a nice thing to be back on a relatively familiar track.

I've lost a pretty significant amount of weight over the last few months, and walking 18 yesterday was a night-and-day experience from a few months back, where I would inevitably be gassed around hole 12 or 13.

Pretty excited to see what future rounds bring, now that the combination of O.P. with a slightly stronger grip has minimized that far-right miss.

Longest drive of the day was 278, and that was slightly into wind, which was pretty awesome (for me, anyway).

Happy to be back in SoCal, and the scores showed it 🙂

Didn't bring my "big" camera with me, but managed to get a couple of snaps anyway, including a hawk in flight, a coyote trying to play through and a tree that looks "very SoCal" to me - you're welcome, lol.

This is a real cool track from the same architect that designed Bandon Dunes. Kind of a blend of high mountain golf with a links feel. Lots of pot bunkers and demanding tee shots. Placement is key over power and distance. Although since I played from the tips, distance was still critical. IMG_1350.jpeg.328fa09f149f06921ae7c1054be1458d.jpeg

450 yard par 4 with a narrow fairway and no wiggle room off the tee. A little think here and you’re sunk. Easy peasy driver and 7-iron to 10 feet for a routine par. My dad didn’t fair as well here. IMG_1361.jpeg.4b39fbfc20c6417ed540f9b1fb5cc610.jpeg

Really cool par 5 on the back 9 with a demanding shots from tee to green. Only two holes on the course where water came into play. IMG_1364.jpeg.9c3456697bd5f44a175ee9747fb4e23b.jpeg

Its not the Ghost Tree but it still has the Old McDonald vibe.

Got into a groove on 8 and 9 and then got hot on the back with 2 birdies just couldn't avoid the little mistakes that resulted in dumb bogeys.

Indeed. Although, I think I could draw a good crowd and be quite entertaining for the TV audience if they did invite me to play on the tour. LOL

This started out as a great round in the making, Par, Birdie, another 3 pars(2 saves), bogey, then parred out the front.  Even par and this day is going great, then the wheels on the bus fell off.  Holes 10-15 couldn't make the score card without a shape the one good part in that stretch was a circle on the par 5 13th.  Driver, 5 wood to about 30 yards short of the pin.  The Scottish special, gap wedge runner uphill and a couple feet of break to 8 feet below and right of the pin (which is the right place to be for this pin).  The bogey train had two more stops on 14 and 15 before leaving for the day.  I caught the fairway bunker on 16, but followed that up with a great 6 iron from 170 out and made par.  Parring out the back 9 for a 5 over 77.  2 birdies, 10 pars, 5 bogies and a double.....Getting closer. 🤔 Playing another round in the morning, then off to Jamaica (three or four rounds, hopefully 🤞)

Good conditions and greens running fast. Played well and putter was on fire again, no 3 putts. Had a good time with my son and enjoyed the day.

Tough conditions yesterday, 25 mph westerly, dry course, secondary rough up, and not hitting the ball well. As ever seem to play the 1st 5 holes well (+1), chipping and putting well, then lost ball at 6 for a triple was the first step on the slippery slope. Out in +6, In in +11, the back 9 is killing me at the moment. I also need to take my punishment from bad lies and stop thinking I'm Jordan Spieth. Had quite a few shots where I should have wedged out and took a hybrid or long iron  to only duff it 30yds and still in the rough.

Back out tomorrow.

It was a humid round, overcast with some rain a couple hours before the round. Surprisingly, it was CPO even though all the fairways were plenty dry to drive on.

Best round in a long time. Wasn't pretty at times, but I was able to get around and break 90 for the first time in many years. Gotta work on those GIR's/FIR's and the short game. Short game was the only thing that was negative strokes gained in the round. Tee: +2.56, Approach: +1.99, Short Game: -2.01, Putting: +2.53.
