SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted March 21, 2010 SPY VIP Share Posted March 21, 2010 Like it Steve. Totally different look, but very cool. Was worried about the snow, but it is all but gone at address. With patina it will be a beauty Adding the new Byron and Handmade stamping just ices the cake. The man can't make a bad or ugly putter anyway. jamo
Not a big fan of the snow, as sactown is, but the look is very nice. Clean, glowing lines, great color. It could be the lighting, but the color isn't as bright as a lot of the copper putters that have been posted. It looks almost like a brushed copper. SPY VIP GolfSpy_X Posted March 21, 2010 SPY VIP Share Posted March 21, 2010 Personally Z-Man I like the before better. Just my opinion but the J Blade was a simplistic style putter so I prefer a more simplistic approach on this type head in regards to the finish. #TruthDigest

Addicted2Golf
I prefer the original finish as well. I guess I don't understand you guys with all these shiny copper penny putters. They look fantastic new but they are bound to oxidize unevenly after you start to game them. Are these all display-only or are you spraying something on them to speed up the process? NGage
From pure aesthetics(sp?), I like the "after" looks better....but for playing purposes, I like the darker finishes better (providing they are care-free).
z-man
I might play it for a little while. After that send it back to Byron and have him put a prepatina finish on it. They seem to last for a long time. Thanks for the comments sales@byronputters.com or steve@byronputters.com

This to me was part of the attraction of copper. Copper penny today, but slowly changing over time. Copper prevents the carbon from rusting or needing lots of silicon spray. I like not really knowing what it will look like in a year. And if that look is not good, I can take a bit of brasso and go back to penny. Steve had a copper byron 008 that the patina was amazing. a bit of patience to see the finished model is all that's required. or just go black oxide and be prepared to take care of it. I guess but I've seen ping putters that go through that process naturally and they look kind of a mess until they reach full patina. That would bug me. But, its a personal thing to be sure. Like you said, you could go black oxide or another finish that is lower maintenance. Addicted2Golf
Yeah, can we pass a constitutional amendment to outlaw snow on putters? Too many great works of art are being defaced by consumers adding this as an option when they refinish their putters. JUST SAY NO TO SNOW!!! I think that I will be with you here and there in the process when there is a weird patina patch. I am going to fight the brasso though and let it happen Another option is to have Byron do a pre-patina finish. SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted March 21, 2010 SPY VIP Share Posted March 21, 2010 White is very cool, not sure about the red in the cavity though. I like the blue with copper on my 006. i'm not much of a red guy though. Snow looks better too with the paint to me. Addicted2Golf
I think I'm with you Sactown - not a big fan of the red on that particular putter.
