A question that popped in my head recently is if my irons should have the same shafts as my irons.  I was fitted for new irons last year and the shafts for them was Dynamic Gold 120 S300.  I bought off the shelf wedges and they all came with Z-Z115 shafts.  Should I go through the effort of getting the wedges changed out to the same Dynamic Golds?

There is no right answer for this.

there are those who play same shafts, those who go heavier and softer flex in the wedge, there are some that go with a completely different profile between the two.

Some of it’s personal preference, some is based of fitting and or self testing.

General recommendation is to go softer flex because of swing length and how wedges are used.

Most pros you see in DG x100 go dg s400 in their wedges. Iirc Rory has px shafts and dg s400 wedges

I typically stay with the s200/wedge shaft in my wedges regardless of what shaft I have in my irons

All of that makes sense.  Sounds like I should get into a fitter to see what makes the most sense for me.

In general I would agree this would be the best route. The one issue with wedge fittings imo is there aren’t many that are don’t on grass which would be the preferred way. I don’t mind iron fittings off a mat but with wedges I like to use grass for my test but I’m also looking at bounce and grind when doing that.

So with a wedge fitting I would first try to find a fitter who has access to grass or a demo day of anyone is still hosting them as we are pretty much past the demo day season. If no fitter has grass then make sure you find the best fitter in your area. This will help finding someone who understands the effects of launch and spin off a mat, hopefully has a baseline for how much change is created by their mat compared to grass. They will also hopefully have you take swings like you would on the course (full swing, partial swings, etc)

I have the same shaft in my wedges as my irons, BUT I play a lot of full shots with my wedges and they make sense for me.  For the longest time I didn't have to think about it cause I played S300s in my irons and all wedges had S300 shafts as well.

Using the S200 shafts in my wedges gives me a softer feel that I like for the more delicate chips and pitches around the green.  I still prefer a stiffer shaft for full-swing clubs like my 56 degree.

My current and previous sets have/had the exact same shafts and flexes in both irons and wedges. I liked the feeling of the matched set. No matter what I pulled from the bag it had that same feel.

I'm building a set of irons and wedges myself and although the shafts will match, the swing weights of the SW and LW will be a bit heavier as they won't be full swing clubs and the extra swing weight will be helpful.

As has been mentioned, it's personal experience and preference.

I'm into matching shafts on irons and wedges, and even more so, matching grips on everything but the putter.

I only coordinate ten clubs into a set's gapping progression, however.
My driver, driving iron, sand iron, and putter are not coordinated into any particular set.
They're add-on utilities that  I could put into any bag.

Thus, their shafts are there for a specific purpose and not matched to the ten coordinated clubs.
If I played a chipper, I'd then have to go with just a nine club gapping progression, and at that point it could become a bit limiting.
