Javs
Found this article on Justin Thomas and it shows how golf is hard for everyone! Thomas is the only player in three decades to post a 10-shot variance between every round at a major championship. https://golf.com/news/justin-thomas-weird-open-week-culminates-quirky-record/?utm_campaign=PANTHEON_STRIPPED&utm_content=PANTHEON_STRIPPED&utm_medium=PANTHEON_STRIPPED&utm_source=PANTHEON_STRIPPED&=1 cksurfdude, Rob Person, William P and 2 others 5 Quote Play like a champion today! cksurfdude
Yeah talk about being streaky... But "golf is hard" totally applies to all of us - on any given day - as per that other article you linked to, "The Big Lie". Driving the ball straight is hard, flushing an iron is hard, catching a crisp wedge to the right distance is hard and oh yeah putting is hard!! mongo312
I find that driving is easy, irons are easy, chipping is easy and putting is easy. The problem is only a maximum of one of these is true during a round except when none of them are true. Skrizan
Some days it feels like you have it all figured out. (Spoiler, You don't!) Then you come back for the next round, using the same swing thoughts that were working the last round and it is gone. Getting it all working at once seems to be the hardest thing. You may be putting well and making up for missed greens with one-putts, then you start hitting greens and you can't sink a putt over 3 feet. Yes, golf is hard! After winning a tournament the week before and in the booth after a solid opening round Andrew MaGee talked about finding a key the week before that really worked for him on the weekend. The announcer asked what it was and is it still working and he responded "Heavens no. That was last weekend". The announcer was a little shocked and said he didn't know PGA Pros search for swing keys and Magee said Pro's are just like Am's, just much better at it. When asked what was the longest a swing key worked for him Magee said "One tournament I had a swing key that almost lasted the entire 4 days before falling apart". cnosil and Skrizan 2 Quote Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... Was playing the best golf of the season leading into it. Back to the drawing board. This happened to me mid tournament this year at the member/guest my uncle and I play in. I had one of the best scoring days of my life on Saturday, won multiple holes for us in each of our three matches and closed out the first match that morning (I'm a 16 hdcp, my uncle a 7). Severe storms hit Saturday night so the two rounds Sunday got cancelled and they moved straight to the alternate shot shootout. When it was my turn to hit our tee shot on the second hole, I fanned it so massively far left it wasn't even funny. That after not losing a tee shot left all day Saturday and really not having that miss to that point in the summer. Golf is, and always will be, the hardest sport I will ever have played in my life. chisag 1 Quote Driver: GT3 9|Tour AD-UB 6S (testing in progress) Fairways: GT2 15 & 18|Tour AD-UB 7S (testing in progress) | Aerojet Max 7|Kai'Li White 70X Hybrid: King TEC 3H|MCA MMT 85g Stiff Irons: Aerojet 6-GW|KBS $-taper Lite Stiff Wedges: Vokey SM10 52.12F|56.12D|True Temper Vokey Wedge Flex Putter: Super Select Newport 2.0 Ball: Tour & ProV1 #LeftyGang Titleist GT Long Game Test (Link Here) Cobra 50th Anniversary Member Special Challenge (link here)
Rico_de_Gallo
Growing up, my dad would always tell me "Nothing is automatic" ... ok, he still tells me this even in my 30s. But it was so true and applied to nearly everything I did including sports. For golf, it really applies.... Last couple rounds have had moments where I am all over the place, but several times even with things seemed to start well on a hole, Good drive....fairway lie, wedge in hand ..... big green A great reminder that even with "easier" shots ....results are not guaranteed: Chunk Chunk followed by another chunk missed way left and into the forest Over the green Bladed over the green Such a good reminder to myself to stay committed to every shot cause this crazy fun game is hard Good Topic @Javs Quote Love some good Breakfast Tacos and Biscuits Driver: 0311BlackOps Wood: 0311 Gen 6, 3 wood and 5 wood Irons: 0311P Gen6, 4 iron - Gap Wedge Wedges: Sugar Daddy II, 52* and 56* Putter: Battle Ready II, Bat Attack Ball: TP5x Technology: and 2024 Caddy Daddy Claw Glove Test
