I will take a guess and say 40+ round with the xcor2's

Now we all know wear is gonna happen on clubs but this seems awful quick doesn't it?

Have you checked to see if it's the same steel in both? They're both cast, so they should be pretty strong against the sweeping/digging so I am surprised by the BO looking that used already. But different steels might wear differently, even if they're both cast.

Well, I've gotten about 7 or so rounds in with the black ops.. Taking the xcor2's out for a spin tomorrow to get a few on course numbers and see how they feel post black ops.. Did notice something while shining up the irons.. my PW is prolly my most used club in the bag by far

This is after 7 rounds with the black ops

yes it does,  i have 0311 from 6 years ago and they dont look like they have even been played.  I have played roughly 40 rounds per year with those since 2018.

One of my big regrets is not playing there when I was stationed @ Pendleton and Miramar. Granted I wasn't all in on golf then, but such a missed opportunity.

same thing for me except it was at Pebble  Beach in the early 90s.   A round back then was $300 bones.  I certainly couldnt afford that.  Now it's around $800 a round. So who would like to sponsor me to play at Pebble?

It was a gloomy day at Torrey Pines South. The fog was thick at times and sometimes let up, but was always around. It didn't make for it's typical picturesque self but was still a good time.

1000029465.jpg.9a7a62ed628833b485af63e81f96e955.jpg

Overall, my day was a bit of a mixed bag. My 5 iron was my friend most of the time and my driver was my mortal enemy! I was able to get comfortable with the SW which led to some great shots from within about 50 yards, as well as some not so great. But that was more me than the club.

1000029473.jpg.2ab2852a95af7a93c242e8e03631d928.jpg

(I'm a sucker for black and white photography)

On hole 7, I started off with a crummy 172 yard drive that went right which is where 80% of my drives end up. I didn't hate where I was and felt a solid 160/170 yard 5 iron would get me back in play. Right now, I'm feeling pretty confident in my 5 iron. Little did I know that I'd hit the longest 5 iron shot I've ever hit! It cleared the fairway going 196 yards! It also went a little left which is an unusual middle for me. Followed that shot with a weak 8 iron that landed just short of the green.

Screenshot_20241002_093213_GarminGolf.jpg.c879cbe38664cc072452e15e6e2091ae.jpg

Two holes later, I find myself on hole 9, a par 5. Again, I'm off to a start on the right side with a 203 yard drive. Feeling confident in my 5 iron, I take it out and hit a tree for a short 52 yard shot. The shot felt good, just misjudged the tree. So I kept my 5 iron in my hand and followed it with a 188 yard Pl last to get me back into the fairway. Followed that with a PW that fell short but a wonderful 22 yard SW out of the bunker for a 2 putt double bogey. I felt like I wasnt far from par. If my first 5 iron didn't find the tree and my PW would've been a little more solid, I could've been there. These Black Op irons are really boosting my confidence.

Screenshot_20241002_112427_GarminGolf.jpg.0cb11d3515e828452bca19773b585e80.jpg

On to hole 12, a par 4. I've mostly given up on my driver so I pulled out my 3 wood. A little closer to the fairway this time but not very long. Again, I'm really clicking with my 5 iron (maybe next time I should leave the woods in the bag off the tee). I pull it out feeling confident and knock it 176 yards into the center of the fairway, 80 yards from the center of the green. 80 yards is where I feel pretty good with my GW do I pull it out. Goes a little short but I'm mostly happy with the result.

Screenshot_20241002_114247_GarminGolf.jpg.813faf5a1aa8123375000e515ca9665e.jpg

Now, onto 13 which is a fun but challenging hole.

1000029468.jpg.08b7df195ec725fa4234889fb050c423.jpg

This was on approach on the famous hole 13. Going with the 3 wood again off the tee. I had two decent 5i's, one landing short of the drop and the second landing safely to the right of the bunkers. I was hoping for a nice SW onto the green but skulled it 72 yards just over the back bunker. Then followed up with a crummy SW then a nice chip with the SW to get me within a couple of feet for a 1 putt double bogey.

Screenshot_20241002_092320_GarminGolf.jpg.2da405cb9b8c05e788fd0fadf1047587.jpg

On hole 14, I decided to pull out the driver again which was a mistake. Went back to my trusty 5 iron and just clipped a branch on what felt like an incredible shot. Had no concerns walking over to my ball with the 5 iron again. This one felt just as good, going 180 yards and getting me back onto the fairway. Here I felt a little nervous though my confidence in my SW was growing. The pin was in a tricky spot, in the back right corner with a green side bunker protecting the front and a drop down a hill on the back. I could've played it safe and gone for the middle of the green but too the aggressive approach going straight for it. The shot was perfect and when the ball landed on the green it stuck, with a little back spin. Everyone in the group let out a collective whoa!

Screenshot_20241002_093405_Garmin Golf.jpg

These are most of my highlights from the round with the Black Ops irons. They're not disappointing so far and my confidence grows every time I'm on the course. This round, i really tried to focus on using the SW within 60 yards and it didn't disappoint. I was a bit cautious at the start since I wasnt as comfortable with it but by the end of the round, I have no concern using it.

And here's the photo from earlier in color for those who aren't fans of black and white. Haha

@FallenSaberWe’ve all experienced those days when the driver just isn’t cooperating. I had a few of those days earlier this summer, so I started using my 4-hybrid off the tee on par 4s and 5s.

Those Black Ops irons are stunning!  I'm seriously considering trying/buying.😂

Well gentlemen, I took the xcor2's for a renewed test run.. While I did shoot the lowest round of my life (76) it wasn't the irons that caught fire, it was my driver, fw woods, and the Black Ops wedges I did keep in the bag.. could go on and on about the round and killing it off the tee but that's not why y'all are on this thread.. The irons hit shorter than I remembered and don't have near the same forgiveness as the black ops do, luckily I adjusted pretty quick on the range before the round.. Was swinging a soft 7 in places I felt comfy with the 8 when I had the BO in the bag, just so I would find the center of the club a little more with the softer swing.. There left no doubt which set has my confidence.. Gonna give it one or two more outings with the BO but I think I have found a winner between these two

Yesterday, I was able to get back out to Torrey Pines South and we were able to just barely get all 18 in.

20241009_143442.jpg.63afe41c2a7f20daa18cca571f4379eb.jpg

The day started off rough! finished the first hole with a demoralizing 10, followed by a triple bogey on #2. It took me a while to find my grove. The weather was cloudy but thankfully, there wasn't fog like last time.

1000029654.jpg.29f331804d39032eb14aaabd0b8d41a8.jpg

Was able to get a nice shot from the tee box for hole #3. Pulled out the 7 iron which I hit short and to the right. Followed that with a nice GW, first shot that felt good in the round. The 2 putt for a single.

Moving on to hole #5, I wasnt feeling the driver so opted to play it safe with the 3W. Went right and a little short. Opted to give the 7I a try since it was a club I haven't used too often. Had a pretty good hit that went 140 yards but didn't quiet get me to where I wanted to be. Followed that with a SW that had some nice height but landed short, in the green side bunker. Another SW shot to get on the green for a 2 putt.

Screenshot_20241009_202233_GarminGolf.jpg.115bc7421701b2a75b8ba7bea01a3068.jpg

Hole 7 was probably my best all around hole of the day. Started off with a 225 yard drive which I was happy with. Followed that with a 177 yard 5I, landing just short of the green. I usually play with the idea that my worst putt would be better than my best chip so I putted onto the green then 2 putt for a single bogey.

Screenshot_20241009_204112_GarminGolf.jpg.9d566a01e6d8295c4a67f0359179e048.jpg

My iron game was feeling better throughout the day and I was finding some success with my driver. My wedge game was off for most of the round. Hole 9 started with a rough drive but 2 5I that I was happy with, going 178 and 160 yards. The LW went long and right, followed by a miss hit SW and 3 putt.

Screenshot_20241009_204126_GarminGolf.jpg.bab245957713a975e7b4b5a945714d5f.jpg

Hole 12 featured the drive of the day, 245 yards down the left side of the fairway. Had a rare miss with my 5I that went right and short. Not really use to hitting frpm the fairway! Then followed with a SW that went short and into the bunker. Another SW to get out and 2 putt to finish.

Screenshot_20241009_204149_GarminGolf.jpg.15060cc40203c61ffa021b88a5e5e612.jpg

Hole 13 featured a nice 234 yard drive that went right and my longest 5i of the day, going 191 yards! See, I prefer hitting out of the rough! I followed that with a topped GW and then a better GW to get me on the green.

Screenshot_20241009_204153_GarminGolf.jpg.3b440607bc26d227e38aedd9fa0e895e.jpg

The next 5 holes were a sprint to the finish. The groups in front of us were dropping like flies and we were determined to get them in. By 16, we were moving at a good pace and running from green to tee box with first up being the first to make it and swing. Lost a ball on 18 simply because we couldn't see the ball after about 100 yards in the air. Even though I started off very rough, it was a fun day on the course.

I'll leave you with this photo of a paraglider flying over the 4th green.

Well men, seeing as we are about to be wrapping this up, it was an honor to be the PXG tester for this forum! Was great getting to know my fellow Black Op testers, @FallenSaber and @USMCSnyper, and the opposition, @Josh Parker @Coulterand @GolfSpy AFG.. Final reviews Monday so hope everyone comes and checks them out

Was a true pleasure men! Thank you!

I have a cobra rad speed driver, cobra fly z 3 and 5 wood, PXG 0311 P Gen 7 irons (4-GW), 54&58 degree Sub70 246 wedges, Tommy Armour #2 wide blade putter. When I’m playing to keep score I typically play the Maxfli Tour X. When just getting a round in with friends or scrambling I play whatever I might find on the course or might find at the bottom of my bag.

I strategically scheduled a basketball officiating gig near my local golf store, eager to check out the Black Ops irons as I have been following this test closely. When I arrived, I inquired about the irons and was thrilled to find they had them in stock. The employee asked how far I typically hit my 7-iron, keeping in mind that my current clubs are quite old   They’re so old that they are able to drink in every state!  😂

He set me up with an 85 KBS regular shaft, and I couldn’t wait to try these new irons. I was genuinely impressed! They felt soft and had a delightful snap to them, resulting in consistently long  and high shots. Despite the lofts being higher than my old clubs, I managed to hit the 7-iron an 184yards. Yikes!

The employee suggested I consider a regular shaft in the 90-110 range, with an extra half-inch length for each club and a one-degree upright adjustment. I’m definitely planning to purchase these irons early next spring!

I included one simulator shot below.

Beautiful numbers!! U definitely found the sweet spot!

Thanks @3Putt4Double!  It's incredible how long and high these irons are; the way they feel are unreal!

I hit my current 7 iron 170 yards.  I’ve been long overdue for new irons.

Great job on the reviews guys!

@FallenSaber @3Putt4Double @USMCSnyper

Same to you!.. Since the unboxing and fitting ran long with words, I tried to get straight to the high and low points so I wouldn't bore the reader.. These reviews can be tricky lol..I do love doing them though
