Looks like a decent alternative. Less expensive than a new LAB. I might have to check these out, since it's $50 less for Heroes.

I was wondering how long it would take for another company to jump on the zero torque train. I'd be interested in hearing how it stacks up to a LAB.

PXG are hyped for this. As they would be, but feel they have something pretty special. 

At first glance I'm not in love, but would love to at least give it a roll.

This caught my eye on the main page today.  Glad to see that LAB's success is breeding some competition.  Dare I say it, but I prefer the look of the PXG to the LAB putters.  If it performs in the same ballpark as LAB, PXG have something special on their hands.  How long before Odyssey, Taylormade and PING follow suit?

They have been other zero torque putters.  Evnroll, Edel, odyssey, axis1.  Axis 1 is definitely in the no torque camp, others may just say the others were toe up designs.   
 

it is interesting that PXG developed their own “revealer” to show the no torque aspect,  I am guessing the revealer may be proprietary

The "s-neck" PXG used reminds me of an old series of putters.  The Tad Moore/ Maxfli series, maybe?

I have to admit, I like the PXG revealer better. It looks like an oversized putter grip rather than a science project.

I'm curious how PXG can get Allan to be no torque with so few weight ports. LAB putters would have one believe that you need many weight ports to be able to no torque a putter depending on the fitting scenario. The bottom of the DF3 has 8 weight ports. It's interesting that PXG is seemingly able to do it with two large weight ports (and those two weight ports might just be for head weight preferences).

I wonder if the whole hollow-body goo-filled thing has anything to do with making it "easier" to zero torque it.

I saw that today and this is what my fitter had mentioned after seeing my LAB DF2.1 putter.  He said I would be blown away by it......  I'm going to have to call my fitter and see if he can get his hands on a left handed one to try out.

This is simply all conjecture and hyperbole without a formal forum product test review... just saying .

So apparently, after doing some digging and further discussion there is a bit of a different between Zero Torque and Lie Angle Balance. Or something to that effect. Basically there will be some... compromises?... not sure if that is the right thing to say or not. Maybe not compromise, maybe standard options? but where the PXG is more stock or needs to be able to fit more right out of the gate, where most LAB are built more custom. I am going to be very interested at seeing how this battle goes and more interested for all those current LAB users time to get out and give these a run!

My guess is that LAB adjusts the weighting to accommodate the custom lie angles.    My guess is that if you adjust the lie angle on the Axis 1 and PXG they will not sit perfectly toe up since adjusting the lie angle will change the shaft intersection point.

Another thing came to me about this putter and the Zero Torque Spotter that they created.  I have heard that on the LAB facebook page they put the Allan in the revealer and it failed.  I think PXG will soon put the LAB in their tool and it will fail in the same way that Axis 1 OEM made the LAB putter fail in the revealer.

Here are some notes about the pricing.

• The PXG is about $100 cheaper than the custom LAB models.
• The "stock" LAB models are about the same price as the new PXG.
• The PXG does appear to have more customization options than the similarly priced ("stock") LAB models.
• LAB Golf provides a free fitting.
• LAB Putters are custom built to be Lie Angle Balanced for your optimal specs.
• After ordering online from LAB Golf you'll likely have to wait around a month for delivery.
• LAB Golf seems to perpetually have a 10% off code.

As with most things, both options have different benefits and downsides which ultimately leaves the decision up to the customer (typical capitalism win).

I was at HQ doing wedge testing and they had the PXG allan putter so of course I had to give it a try.   

Personal opinion is that it doesn't look great, doesn't sound great, I don't like the S hosel but it does roll the ball pretty well.   The one thing I noticed is that it is fairly hot off the face and it almost appears like the ball just wants to keep rolling even after you think it is going to stop.    I think they are going to do some testing after most wanted wraps up so I am guessing I will be able to do something a little more objective soon.

I think this "type" of putter set up. Meaning zero torque etc is going to be the next "thing" in putters. It will be like your anser style blade and everyone will have a zero torque model.

Agree.  Not sure all players will have one, but every OEM will have a line,    Odyssey is calling theirs “square 2 square”.

I think you’re right. There’s too much hype around it not to (not saying it is or isn’t deserved). I do, however, think it’ll be like a lot of things…some will ‘look’ the part, and some will actually function. Some will be mass produced and some will be one offs. Purists will have their take on it, but the style is probably here to stay…at least for the near/mid future.
