Mizuno Fall 2012 Releases

Recommended Posts

  • SPY VIP

In case you haven't seen them yet, I wanted to pass along some pics of the very soon to be released Mizuno 2013 Irons. I've joked with our Mizuno contact about Mizuno being extremely predictable with their releases. While I'm sure it has nothing to do with me, they have mixed things up just a bit.

Predictably, the MP-63 will be replaced by the MP-64, and the JPX-800 and JPX-800 Pro have been upgraded to the new JPX-825 and JPX-825 Pro irons. Less predictably...hell...I'll say shocking is that Mizuno is NOT announcing a replacement for the MP-53. So as of right now...at least to the best of my knowledge, there isn't an MP-54.

Here's the bigger surprise. A few weeks ago we showed a pic of the MP-H4. We basically billed the H4 as a long iron replacement (the new Fli-Hi if you will). The H4, which is more iron than hybrid, I suppose, would fall into the same category as Adams's Transitional Hybrids (again - long iron replacements that are more iron than hybrid/wood). The surprise is that while the MP-H4 will remain a long iron replacement option only in the UK, the guys at Mizuno USA decided to turn the MP-H4 into a full iron set.

One final note before we get to the pics. Mizuno is one of the sponsors of the MyGolfSpy Tour Staff Contest. In fact, we're giving away 2 sets of Mizuno irons, and the winners will be able to choose any iron from the Mizuno lineup, including the insanely popular MP-59s, the new JPX-825, JPX-825 Pro, MP-H4, or MP-64.

When I first saw these I thought "Wow, these look just like the last 15 MP irons they've released!" It's a great look though. if I won the contest I'd be going MP-64 3-6 and MP-69 7-PW. They also scream Bstone J40 CB with a different logo.

Again, really digging the 825's. In fact, I want CH3's set up with the 825 Pro's and the 59's mixed together presuming the 825 Pro's play as a more forgiving CB for the mid and long irons with that standard Mizuno feel that we so love.

That interesting that the U.S. is getting something that the UK isnt. Usually its the other way around (putters, shoes, balls).

My Mizuno contact tells me the MP-H4 is awesome. Granted, he generally says that about all of their irons, but as it turns out, he's usually right.

I would need to see the MP-64 in person to really see if I would like it or not... MP-H4 irons and wedges are not my cup of tea, I am a blade person and like to stick to them, only CB i have seen that looks like something I would play is the Adams CMB, but maybe that is because they come stock with KBS C-Taper shafts ;)

It makes me crazy. For the longest time I wanted a pair of Mizuno golf shoes. I did manage to get my hands on a MP Craft putter though, through an Ebay seller in Japan.

I tell you what, if you haven't hit the JPX800 irons you are missing out big time! I won a set of G20's or I would have bought them hands down. Golfsmith in Raleigh will tell you to hit whatever irons you want to try and then when you are done they hand you a JPX800 to hit. They said more times than not the JPX800 sells. I had already hit them and knew how great they were but a buddy of mine that's about a 6 handicap (hitting old Titleist blades) didn't think they would be for him. After hitting several irons and deciding on the Rocketbalz they handed him the JPX800. He bought them.

What's the conversion rate if you deal with someone from Japan..Is it more, less or about the same?...

fairways & Greens 4ever........

Id say its less. The Yen is still pretty weak and you can often get some pretty high-end Japanese golf stuff for less than what similar stuff would cost here. The only thing is the shipping but more Ebay sellers from Japan offer free shipping, so its OK.

I sometimes buy stuff from Tourspecgolf and the shipping costs can be a killer. I looked into buying a Tourstage putter from them before I bought my Odyssey and it would have cost $35 to ship a putter.

The H4 definitely will be an interesting set to keep an eye on. AS Mizuno irons are deadly accurate and the JPX is all about forgiveness, the MP are all about feel just can't wait to see what is in between. And can't wait to win some of these sweets!!

Interesting that the putters that are due to be released we're included here either.

Are those slated for a later release T? It seems NA retailers are gearing up to actually have them. I also hope they've refined the feel from the MP putter line last year.

I do like how Mizzie is jumping on the Black bandwagon aside from their irons. Everything looks nice and sharp with good contrast.

It is my understanding that Mizuno plans to release the putters in Japan and the UK but not the U.S., so Im not expecting any NA retailers to have them.

Interesting because I have emails from 3 NA golf supply places that are taking preorders on them already. Maybe the shops are doing a batch over from the UK and splitting it up between them.

WHERE Are the true "players blades. like the MP 68 that I play? I hope Mizuno has not dumped the butter knives for the spoon :( s.

Mizuno sticks pretty tightly to two year release cycles. The MP-69s (true blades) were released about this time last year, so one can expect that the MP-70 (or whatever the follow-up ends up being) will be released about this time next year.

Theyre still there, they just havent released a new version of them this year because the 69s came out last year. Like T said: 2-year product cycle. You will see new blades next year.

Possibly. All Im saying that Mizuno has said they do not plan to release them for the NA market. After all of the money that Mizuno lost in the deal with Bettinardi, I know they are very hesitant to get into the putter market here again.

Nothing says that a dealer wont work something out with a UK or Japan dealer to import putters.

I must admit, they are a lot less chunky looking than the original press release photos made them look.

Mark Crossfield's opinion of them is what you would expect. He loves Mizuno irons and makes no mystery of that fact.

I watched the video and realize that the muscle looks so thick because the top of the blade is so thin. These are Julia Roberts irons. Maybe not drop dead gorgeous at first but the more you see them the better they look.
