Hattiesburg, Mississippi & Chattanooga, Tennessee Area Golf Courses

[Ole Miss Rebel]

I am looking for a town with good golf courses in Mississippi and maybe east Tennessee (Chattanooga). I am retiring and moving to someplace with better weather and cost of living. Most all clubs have web sites but that really does not help. Do you play the local public courses if there are any?

I live near Chattanooga (Cleveland) and have played a few of the courses in Chatt. 

Brained is a nice course, I've played there a few times and really enjoy it. The greens are fast. It plays at 6400 yards from the tips, so it isn't that long and I usually play the whites at 6100.

I haven't played Brown Acres recently, but it's a pretty fun and decent course. 

Moccasin Bend is also nice but I've only played it once. It's a bit of a drive and I'm not too fond of driving over the ridge cut. 

There's also The Bear Trace at Harrison Bay which is a Jack Nicklaus design and part of the Tennessee Golf trail. It's probably the nicest course around Chattanooga. It's in a beautiful setting in the national park around Chickamauga lake. 

There's also Nob North in Georgia and not a far drive from Chattanooga. I've only played it once and am chomping at the bit to play it again.
