A can't miss read and hopefully we can see some more members joining in on 2025. We are making sure that we work out two events. The first one will be sometime in May and the second will be September(ish). The goal being that the May event will be the slightly higher priced on and may include an OEM or two on location and the second one being a bit smaller for those that can't make the May event and in a different location that could be more accessible for some that feel the first is too far. 

Again stay tuned for more details. 

As for your calendars for those really interested it is years away, but we are going to plan a Scotland 2028 trip in May. If you need time to save and plan start now! 

2026 will be slightly different, but there are still plans in the works there and when we have more information there we can also update you here first on that.

Out of curiosity, budget wise if we were to plan 3-4 rounds of golf and 3 nights what would be a responsable amount for us to work to try and work within?

Kingsmill was a bit more than previous years to my understanding. I believe about $1100. Not sure what the others were prior. Just a general answer, of course we work to try and keep it as reasonable as possible!

Kingsmill was 2 or 3 nights?  3 round of golf though right?  $350ish a night. Might try to keep to $300 a day or less if possible. For most, travel will be another sizable expense.

3 nights from my recollection. Thursday night check in with RNK that day. Friday first round, Saturday 36, Sunday 18 and for me to the airport.

Myself being a budget minded individual, here is my take on a  reasonable cost breakdown ( although not necessarily still feasible)

Rounds- Under or as close to $100 x3 rounds

Hotel/Lodging- 3 nights at under $150 per night. (option to split a room with someone?)

Food/beverages - $25 per meal avg. 3x per day, x4 days ( less if ordering bulk at gatherings)

Golf - $300

Room- $450

Meals - $300

Total- 1050 pp ( high average)

Travel expenses not calculated, due to distances will vary per individual. I would say $500 travel would seem an average though if driving.

Also, as mentioned, some costs can be flexible or less if sharing food, travel, and room expenses.

I already have spousal permission, on the condition that she joins me for a week before or after.

Pricing always depends on your destination and time of year.  But in the end of May in a popular golf destination you should expect to be somewhere between 800 and 1000 with four to a condo and 3 to 4 rounds of golf. Lots of places have play three rounds get a fourth round free (afternoons only on the free round). 
Let me know when to start packing.

Ideally what we have learned is that condo type accommodations are best.  I know that gets tougher as the group gets larger.  At the MD outing we were all in a single condo with an open dining, kitchen, living room and a fire pit in the back which was great for group conversation.   At Pinehurst the condos were pretty big and while there were 4 to a condo there was space for getting everyone together in the evening.   Kingsmill was like Pinehurst but the living area was smaller and it seemed to make it more difficult to just hang out in the evening.  Eating at the onsite restaurants was fine, but everyone was more spread out so conversation was tough.

I had not considered a condo/Air BNB type place for this. that would drop share pricing a bit too.  4 days at a condo that could sleep 4-6 or more would drop lodging costs by less than half pp. ON SITE lodging may be a bit more

Also mentioned to my wife the possibility of this and her response was a bit surprising…was expecting a bit of pushback and she had none and actually thought it was a good idea.

That’s why they put it out early. Save money, put it aside. Then she never knows about the deposit and you just show her the balance. Bingo…Look how cheap this trip is dear. 

My wife on the other hand is glad to see me go away. I got a business trip this week and she wants to help me pack.

Can’t say I’d be able to commit to a budget or date at the moment, but I’ll happily volunteer my time to anyone planning travel! If you don’t know / don’t want to figure out the easiest or cheapest way to get from point a to point b, I’m happy to help!

Although not exactly related, please ensure the ability to add locals or those with local accommodations as "golfers only" to the mix when setting up the venue.

This was done at prior outings;  sometimes the courses themselves limit the ability to do this or the outing has reached the minimum number of people are doing the package.

If and when possible definitely!

As Chris mentioned sometimes it is limited by the course for on resort guests etc, however we will always hope to get ad many members involved as possible!

So that everyone remembers I just went through my credit card statement, 395 down within 7 days of sign up to book your spot, 705 two weeks before arrival for 3 nights and 3 rounds. For reference Queenstown, aka the prototype, was 459 for lodging for two nights and two rounds of golf, deposit was 262 to hold your spot and 197 for the golf.

EDIT: Also am I getting thinner in those shots or just better aware of how to dress my shape? Inquiring minds want to know.

MyGolfSpouse listened to my information about forward planning for the 2025 Meetup being underway and she smiled and said "okay."  Just need the details now, unless it involves international air travel, put me down as attending.  (Yes I know Scotland is 2028 which gives me time to get my passport.)

If you had an advanced head count for locals attending, could you potentially ask them to secure XX amount of extra tee times?

It would be ashame if locals couldn't attend because they weren't lodge guests

That's not the issue. The issue is there are properties that will only allow resort guests to play.

I couldn't agree more.  I missed the event last year because of this.  And it was in my own state too!
