MarkHod Posted October 7 Posted October 7 (edited) Hi all, Just back into Golf after a 20 year gap. I have done a bit of research into Launch Monitors and decided to get the MLMR2 Pro. The data is ok, which I of course knew up front. However, I am starting to think that it is missing critical data. To improve my swing, I feel I need to have "Club Path" and "Face Impact" otherwise how can you possibly know, when using a net, what the problem is, if you are hooking or slicing the ball? I am starting to think I should go with a Mevo+ with Pro and Face Impact, or SkyTrak+ I appreciate there is a big difference in price, but unless you have the correct and accurate data, it is just a toy - or is that too harsh? Thoughts appreciated. Thanks, Mark Edited October 7 by MarkHod Quote
cnosil Posted October 7 Posted October 7 (edited) It measures launch direction, spin and spin axis which gives you path and shot shape. Use foot powder to see face impact. You could also use smash factor to help asses where you are hitting the ball. but if you want it displayed using the metrics you state then you need another launch monitor. MarkHod Posted October 7 Author Posted October 7 I guess if the launch direction is -# then you know your club path is to the left and if spin axis is +# then you have open club face. Shame they don't translate that into data. I have no desire to spend more money on a different LM. Foot powder - never heard of that, until you mentioned it and then googled. A bit crude, but certainly does the trick - thanks. Josh Parker 1 Quote
elight Posted October 15 Posted October 15 I think you'll find that you don't need these metrics to know exactly how you hit it once you get in the groove with your LM. It's nice to see, but the reality is that you're not likely going to be working toward changing your swing path or face angle by a degree. You want to know generally what your path and face are and your lajnch direction and shot shape will tell you. I'd be more concerned about those being accurate. You have a great LM, and as others have said, if you really want face impact, use the spray foot powder. Even with the Mevo+, unless you set up the face impact right and at the beginning it can be way off at times. With the numbers it provides already, you will know if you made solid contact. Learn the data and really understand it and I think you will find you have everything you need. cnosil 1 Quote Titleist GT3 11* Tensei 1k blue Titleist TSR2 4w 16* Titleist TSR2 5w 18.75* MKII ZX 5's (4-6) w/ KBS Tour V MKII ZX 7's (7-PW) w/ KBS Tour V Vokey SM9 Wedges 50* 54* 58* DF2.1 Putter

Curious why you feel that way? If you measure your club heads and make the adjustment it ought to be consistent and correct. I don’t know how different head size can be from manufacturer to manufacturer. But what it “sees” ought to be consistent. It's not set up as a sim. My range also has some drop from the mat to behind and if the ball isn't in the exact some spot, it gets a bad reading from time to time.
