Shankster Posted October 9 Posted October 9 Another perplexing question… Yesterday when I skipped the 54 into the back of the ball and over the green the sand was super compact and honestly like playing off a cart path. After I chopped the ball out of the bunker, I spent about 3 minutes raking it for the next guy. It was nearly perfect and anyone would have enjoyed hitting a ball out of it. Time is money type of thing here? Another question… Hole position on the green. Again, there were some hole placements that even our Pro’s would probably question. On little nubs on the green. In the middle of a pretty severe slope. Just stuff I am not used to seeing. Do they not give a crap, or are they unaware of what they are doing? I appreciate what the grounds crew does at my home course but they truly are clueless and it is clear they don't play or care based off their etiquette around players. Rob Person Posted October 9 Posted October 9 I can't speak for other courses, but can for the one I work at. Ours work very hard to maintain every aspect of the course. Unfortunately the head grounds keeper and proshop director are the ones who select pin positions. They meet every 2 weeks at mine. The cups are moved and cut every 3-4 days to promote healthy growth. Half of the ground staff do play at our course too. They use premium sifted sand for the bunkers as well. There are a number of times even they question why would someone put a pin in a specific spot too. cksurfdude, Shankster and William P 3 Quote WITB- Driver -Titleist 910D, 3w- Titleist 910F, 5hy/7hy- Titleist 910H, 6-PW - Stix , 52⁰, 56⁰, 60⁰ - Stix , Putter- AI-ONE DB / Lombardi Tour 34 custom Just an old newbie golfer, trying to learn and improve 1 club at a time.
